On Windows 10 at the moment, and there is a lack of drivers on Lenovo's website.

Dolby Audio, and Lenovo Fingerprint Manager are two important ones I can name right now.

Cool, thanks for that. I think I'll wait another couple of weeks before upgrading to W10.

I've used the X240 now has my travel laptop for about 3 weeks. Spends most of its time in my weekend bag travelling around the country with me for work by plane and train. The size is perfect for the train tray table. I'm actually happy I went with the X240 instead of the Surface Pro 2/3. Now I know I would not be able to use the Surface with the keyboard out on the tray table, would have been a big deal as I wouldn't have been able to get anything done whilst travelling?!

Construction is solid, battery life is going pretty good. Getting about 6 - 7 hours tethered to my phone and surfing the net with mild word processing. This is using the 3 + 3 cell option. I'll be picking up a 6 cell later in the year. The touchpad is growing on me. Still find the distance of travel when clicking and the noise a but off putting. People have mentioned its quite noticeable when I am clicking away... Performance I have yet to really test out. I will be using it for light gaming whilst travelling. I installed and briefly played the first 3 minutes of Bioshock, it appeared to run well.

The keyboard is very nice. My only major gripe is the horrible TN screen. Need to look into upgrading this soon. Lenovo need to stop offering the TN screen as it really is horrible to look at.

Yep, I do like the X240.

If it had better sound quality, then it would be an almost perfect laptop.

Yeah the speakers are pretty poor. Then again, I only ever use it with headphones seeing as it's my travel machine. Wish Lenovo would swap the FN and CTRL keys (yes I know it can be done in bios). Would be nice to have the larger CTRL key on the far left, minor gripe though.

Can you get the Windows 8 drivers to work?

I updated my desktop earlier this week, and there weren't drivers available for my Asus sound card. I force-installed the ones for 8 and it worked completely fine.

Update: I installed Windows 10. Running perfectly.

Windows automatically detects the fingerprint reader, and installs the correct Synaptics drivers for it. Been working flawlessly. Dolby Audio didn't use to exist, but in the recent 'Lenovo Settings' metro app update, Dolby Audio support was added. It's no where near as customizable as it was in Windows 8 (you can't have custom EQ anymore for example), but at least it works.

I tried the old Windows 8 Dolby Audio drivers, it fails to install. Probably due to an operating system version check in the software.

Just thought this might be useful for anyone contemplating the upgrade.

I have a chance of buying an X240 from a good deal. However I read loads of complaints about the touchpad. I was wondering since this notebook has been out for a while now if these issues were fixed? With a bios or driver update perhaps.

I am finding the touchpad to be quite good. Probably my biggest complaint would be the distance the touchpad moves down when you are clicking. Quite a lot of movement, plus makes a reasonable amount of sound. A little off putting at first, but I'm getting used to it now. Using the touchpad is excellent. I'll put it out there and say its probably the best Windows touchpad I've used. Two finger gestures for scrolling work really well. Plus the surface area is very large.

Now in terms of using the top of the touchpad as buttons with the trackpoint, its a disappointment. This is where the vast majority of complaints are centred. Hope this helps.

As T-Mobile and AT&T use the same technology, if it can be activated on T-Mobile, it should work without issues.
