Hey guys, I'm seriously considering picking up a refurb X240/X250 to replace my Sony Vaio Duo for portable stuff. My only issue being screen resolution. Most machines I can find come with the HD screen, and not the FHD 1080p option.

How does everyone with only the HD IPS option find it? I'm not sure I could cope with the downgrade in resolution after coming from the lovely screen on the duo, but then again I might be able to make it work if the difference isn't that notable.

I'll be using it mostly on trains and planes for typing, web browsing, watching movies and playing some steam games.

Does anyone have the x250 1920x1080 Ips touch display? Is this display glossy or matte? On the Lenovo site there are no information if the display is more matte or glossy like a mirror...

All touch screens are reflective, like a glossy screen, due to the glass used in the touch surface.

That's not true. The X60 tablet up to the X230 tablet have had multi-touch gesture screens that were matte.

Unless we are talking about just the X250 here, in which case they would all be glossy indeed.

I'm not speaking of the screen itself. It can be matte or glossy underneath, makes no difference because it's the glass in the touch surface that causes the reflectivity. I had a X200t with a matte Hydis LCD, but it was very reflective.

    First thanks to all replies.

The reason for the question is that I'm currently unsure if I take the non touch or touch version of the FHD display. If the display is very glossy I may think about taking the touch display.
Unfortunately I did not found any pictures that show the differences of the display surface at all. I do not want a "mirror" display like the Notebooks hat ~5-6 years ago.

    @ Jayayess1190
Is is possible to take a picture to see how glossy the screen is? I did not found any pictures showing the touch screen to find out if it is too glossy for me...

So are you saying there is only one module in the x250? If so that would crush my plans of getting the 4gb model and upgrading it later...

Wow, that's about $120 cheaper than the one I found through my own research, and thanks to you I know that it for a fact works! That's awesome, thank you. Anything special I need to do when my laptop comes in to prepare it for this new stick?

Short question, when the X250 is powered off and charging, is there a charging indicator showing the device is charging or fully charged?
Got my X250 today and first I'll charge the device completely.

    -- Edit --
Also an additional question, in the control panel energy options I'm able to define actions when I'm pressing the power button, close the lid, press the sleep button. That is fine, but the X250 does not have a "sleep button" at least not a button with a "moon" on it.
On the TP T530 is it Fn+F4, and the button has a "moon" on it. My old Samsung Q210 Notebook it was Fn+F1 and also there is a "moon" symbol.
Is a sleep button on the X250 present or not? I'm wondering since it is available in the control panel power options...

Wondering how satisfied you guys with your X250, with single channel ram? I am shopping for laptop for next 3-5 years and currently I have a T510 with dual channel 8 GB running smoothly. At least i don't want the new computer perform worse than my current one...

At all a very nice machine.

I updated to Windows 10 a few days after the official Win 10 release.I cloned my original windows 8.1 HDD to a 1TB SSD and swapped the HDD and SSD. Than I performed the Windows 10 Update. At all no problem with the update, all components work as expected. On a Desktop system Windows 10 is very nice IMO, better than Win8.1 in usability.

Have they stopped offering the TN panel as the lowest option on the X250?

No at least in Germany you are able to buy in the cheapest verion of the X250 - Lenovo offers 3 different base versions in Germany - the " HD-Display (1366 x 768), TN 200 Nit, WWAN" display. The "HD-Display (1366 x 768), IPS, 300 Nit, WWAN" would be 47.60€ more.

Interesting, I can honestly recommend everyone to spend a little bit more and get the IPS panel. The TN panel is horrible. I had a look at the Australian Lenovo config screen for the X250 and thought it had been removed as an option. I must have missed it.

Not sure if this is the official X250 owner's thread? I couldn't really find another.. Shocking to see no post since august.. Can't believe it!! Anyways..

I was wondering how does it feel to have FHD display on such small screen? If you lower resolution, will it look terrible? I'm thinking it won't, too small to notice..

Am i wrong? I was talking about desktop use. Of course for game it'll be necessary to lower.. Other question : is there a free M2 port? mSATA port? The later'll be better..

I hate to seem rude, but please do not tell me how to format my responses.

I took my laptop to a frys electronics and we opened the laptop up together to figure out what kind of micro drive was necessary. This laptop actually takes a special kind of M.2 drive, a "low voltage" M.2 to be exact. I can tell you without a doubt that, even if there is an msata drive, it's unusable.

The X250 is great and works well, why discuss :)

My X250 used to work well with the Windows 10 Summer Release and now it works perfectly with Windows 10 1511 (TH2)

I use it in FHD Resolution, but I scaled it to 125%. For me perfect. Even Visual Studio 2015 is perfectly to use...

It depends on your X250 configuration. The X250 may have two or 3 M.2 Slots. If you have a 3G/4G Card in your X250 you do not have a free M.2 Slot, except you have ordered the Version with a free 3rd M.2 Slot.
If you does not have a 3G/4G Card in your X250, than you have at least one free M.2 Slot. The WLAN Card is also in an M.2 Slot.

Only as an addditional hint. The 3rd M.2 Slot is on such a bad place you Need to disassemble the complete X250, including CPU and Mainboard.

The 3rd M.2 slot was only available with a HDD that did not have an onboard SSD. If you have a 3rd M." Slot you will have a 16GB SDD installed. But it is like I said, you need to disassemble the complete X250 to get access to this M." Slot. My X250 has this slot, I initial plan was adding a 512GB 2.5" SSD and a 256GB M." SSD, but when I found out there is no w to access this M.2 slot I got a 1TB 2.5 SSD.
I'm an experienced person but completely diassemble the X250 was too much for me. At all it is tricky to open the X250 case without scraching the case.

The Modelnumber is 20CLS0EQ08, the serial is

To make it easier to imagine where the 3rd M.2 slot would be. On this picture

over the Displayport marking, you see on the product picture the smartcard slot. At this location the M.2 slot is located.
The problem is you need to disassemble really everything :-(
