x201s is not x201 tablet
-
X201t = tablet
x201 = CPU i5 520/540M or i7 620M.
x201s = supposedly a long battery-life version housing i7-620/640LM CPU -
The boot disk contains the software to start the recovery process. The other two CD's retain the image of your harddrive/system that the software on the first disk uses to restore your system.

Does anybody know when Lenovo supply for X201 with Core i7 will be replenished?
-
After weighing my options, I've decided to pick up a new X201 to replace my unusable netbook. Got it with an i5-520, 4gb RAM, 6 cell battery for $961 CAD.
-
The Boot Disc can be a CD (even if you use a CD, it won't be filled), while the two Data Discs should be DVDs (unless you want a huge stack of CDs). When you restore your computer using the disks, you will need to insert the Boot Disc first, then the two Data Discs when prompted to do so.
-
So it's three discs total? Hmm, do these discs create an image of the system as current, or restore it to its factory default?
-
It should be your systems image at the time of the backup.
-
Hmm, so how do you restore the hard disk to its factory settings, if not with these restore discs?

Could anyone tell me about the differences between X201 and X200 batteries:
43R9253 ThinkPad Battery 47 (4-cell)
43R9254 ThinkPad Battery 47+ (6-cell)
43R9255 ThinkPad Battery 47++ (9-cell)
Do they use the same battery? No upgrades from X200's batteries? -
Yes, I believe the batteries are identical. The T-series got new batteries with improved charge capacities this revision, but the X-series did not.
-
That's incorrect. The X201 9 cell battery has improved capacity. Everything else is the same.
-
But why the name is still the same: 43R9255 ?
-
So x200,x201,x200s and x201s uses exactly the same batteries?
And lately the 9-cell have been upgraded.
Whats the specs and modelnumber of the new battery?
Is this the new one?

43R9255
LITHIUM ION 9-CELL - 7800 MAH -
That is the old one (84whr), the new ones are 94whr. The old ones do fit into the refreshes x series, not sure if the new batteries fit into the old x series.

On the X201s the WXGA+ screen is usable? I am mainly looking for an I5 based laptop thats small and has a higher res screen. X201 fits that very well, but from many reviews, the screen is very sub-par. I will mainly doing coding, and school related tasks. What are your guys opinions on the 201x's WXGA+ screen.?
-
I saw the screen at a local shop which had a X201s out on display. The display resolution is quite good. Screen quality on the other hand if you view from the side or push the screen back a bit is quite shabby but if you are directly in front of the computer it is fine.
-
Good to hear. I wish it was cheaper as 1400$ is alot of money for a notebook with a sub-par screen
-
I am going to buy a 9-cell do you know how can I see if its the new or old? Does it have different modelnumber? Is both batteries 7800 mah?
-
Are we sure the x201 screen is LED-backlit? I have it on maximum brightness and it's about half as bright as my LED-backlit 2530p... then again it has better viewing angles than the 2530p...
-
What do you mean exactly?
just a print screen and keep in in original resolution like 1440x900? Or a camera shot? -
I'm just making a review myself for x201s and I can tell you this - I own a 13.3 Dell XPS m1330 and with WXGA it is like watching a 640 x 480 game on a 1024x768 monitor. Exactly for that WXGA+ reason I have upgraded and I can tell you - I don't regret it. In W7, at least, it looks good. Sure, u cant read from ur screen from the other side of the room anymore, but if you are in front of it like someone said here no resolution can be too high. With the camera the picture isn't that great, but I will see what I can do and put the review tonight.

I got my X201t a couple weeks back. Loving the multi-touch. I was initally concerned about the low res screen compared to my 17" workstation but it's not bad at all. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.
-
I ordered the palm rest from the X200t because I never use the trackpad. It fits perfectly. No compatibility issues at all in case someone else wants to do this mod.
-
Does anyone has the X201 with the 128Gb SSD?
What brand/model?
You might know that these are still important for SSDs (TRIM, performance..), so , while I hope Lenovo does not use cheap models in his business line, better to investigate..
Still uncertain about X201/201s, but a minor request (it is not the reason for my doubts..): has the 201s an integrated mic?
Thanks

How can I upgrade to 3Yr Basic Warranty Extension if I only bought 1 year?
-
hey any of you try to replace the redesigned keyboard on T400s and T410 to your X201? is it compatible? I'm not a long time ThinkPad user and I really hate it when I hit F1 instead of ESC all the time.
apparently no, I should have looked first, sorry about the question above. -
How Do you know its the old one? And how do you calculate the whr? cant find it in the text.. Does the new have a different modelnumber?
-
Most reports I've seen of recent shipments indicate they're using the Intel 2nd generation SSD... but not guaranteed.
As far as I know, both have the mic. Camera is the only lost option on the X201s. Unfortunately, X201s is months away from shipping. Delivery is probably a bigger concern in your purchase decision. -
Intel does not make 128GB SSDs, they only have 80GB and 160GB models (which are the ones that Lenovo use, for those respective options). The 128GB SSD is either a Samsung or Toshiba, if I remember correctly.
-
Thanks everybody for your replies.
I will let you know as soon as it will be in my hands: I got a X201 with SSD. -
Btw, I add one more question about brand/model of X201 hardware.
What is brand/model of X201's RAM? (2GB, 4GB, 8GB) -
I like to ask if you took the 8 cell; ssd hd; outdoor screen and how long is the battery life ?
-
Anyone have an idea of the timeframe for the X201 Tablets becoming available again?
-
I have been using a HP 6910p for a while, and plan to buy an X201 shortly.
Just need your help on heat and noise issue. Anyone who has used an HP 6910p before can compare which one is better in terms of heat and noise? Thank you. -
to my suprise the heat exhaust is much better on x201 rather than x61, I never had the HP. On x61 the palm rest is hot after a few while, i need to buy these fan under the laptop to prevent the heating. On my x201 is not like that.
The DDR3 is by Elpida, to my suprise, Kingston and Corsair seems to buy the chips from them (google) -
Around June for 620LM and July for 640LM according to Lenovo.
-
thanks. so you dont need a laptop cooler for your x201, right?
-
Wow! And to think I nearly cancelled my order. I got mine 2 weeks after they came out. Very happy with it, and I'd definitely buy again. Patience.
-
Nope, but I am buying a new laptop cooller anyway made from Aluminium just to preserve my laptop
-
Just Order a X201 for my dad. Win 7 64 bits W/ i5 540M, 4 gb Ram, WXGA W/ Camera, 500gb HDD, 3yrs Onsite + 3yrs ADP... I am sure he will love anything i bought him. estimate shipping date 5/13/2010.
Cheers -
Can you disable the trackpad without disabling the pointing stick?
-
^^^ Yes. Press F1 to get into BIOS when the computer shows the first splash (Lenovo) screen. Within the menus, you have the option of disabling the trackpad without disabling the pointing stick.
-
Oh men, I just ordered my X201 two weeks ago. And now Lenovo has a crazy sales off with only extra $60 for 3 years damage protection and onsite warranty.
Poor me.
(
-
^^^ Anyway to try and get a price match? Or just cancel your current order and re-order with the better price (if you haven't gotten it already)?
-
I have an odd problem with my X201, the computer seems to random shut itself down when I put it into sleep mode on battery, but it never happens on AC. Anyone else experience this issue?
-
I have aT42 and the sound is adequate for me to listen to Pandora. With the correct driver installed has anyone compared the x201 sound to the T42?
-

I'm thinking of buying an Ultrabase. I regret not having added it to my order when I bought my X - would have got a 35% off...
Does anyone know if Lenovo has discount promotions on accessories?
