Waiting on your laptop? Memory backorder?

it is a UPS issue, just mentioning that the whole ordeal to purchase a laptop is quite funny.

 

I know what you mean, life was supposed to get more simple with the build to order computers=. The problem is that everyday I feel like walking into a costco and purchasing whatever they have so I could be typing this on a new laptop.

I cant wait until i create the "Got my T60 review" thread. Probably wont be as big as this one.

 

Oh and just to let you know. Yesterday morning I sent four emails out about my situation and how I was mistreated and lied to.

One to the team leader, one to my rep, one to a supervisor, and one to the normal lenovo customer contact email service. I have not gotten one reply back.

yeah, express is awesome, unless you paid for 2-day delivery.

 

Im starting to think that all of us in that order time zone are going to be express shipped. I think it has more to do with invoices though. They need to get them shipped and charge as many as they can before the end of the year. For financial reason. I doubt it has anything to do with customer service.

just checked the order status page, to my surprise, my 12/02 online order was shipped today on 12/06, that is fast

one question:
what does "Rescheduled Delivery: 12/07/2006 " mean?
does it mean they will send it on 12/07/2006 or I will get it on 12/07/2006?

if your item was PICKED UP on DAY 1 by 6:45pm (Hong Kong time), it will be delivered by DAY 2 by 10:30am (US time).

if your item was PICKED UP on DAY 1 by the end of Day 1 but not before 6:45pm (Hong Kong time), it will be delivered by DAY 3 by 10:30am (US time).


For EXPEDITED
if your item was PICKED UP on DAY 1 by 6:45pm (Hong Kong time), it will be delivered by the end of DAY 4 (US time).

ex. Mine (Express) was picked up at 10pm on Tuesday, Dec 5. Therefore, it adds one extra day of delievery, and the delievery will be made by Thurs 10:30am Dec 7 my time.

There is no GROUND shipping option for items coming out of Hong Kong. You can always estimate your delivery time on ups.com. For "shipping from" just enter Kowloon, Hong Kong.

 

UPS is pretty aweful with 3rd party duty brokage firms. Basically what happens is that somehow your item was deem dutible by the US customs and the duty brokage firm must collect the duty + service fee (paid to the brokage firm) from someone (usually the receiver, but in the case, I would bet Lenovo) before US customs will release the item for further delievery.

Canadian customs are a lot worse as they pretty much stop everything that's over a certain weight.

The thing is UPS could've chosen a collecting firm that charges less fee. But they don't. At least in this part, you don't have to do anything.

 

Are prices like this currently available? Thank you.

 

What case do you have? I hope mine isn't really going to be as delayed as it seems. I've been told my systems are "packing," but maybe packing the parts that are there, but no case, and definitely no ram.

 

mtnbkr...I have a z61t (9440D9U), if that helps. I had a voice mail from someone from customer service regarding the "complaint" I had filed with a rep. I'll call her back and post any info I get.

I called and was tolded I have a firm ship date of Dec 28th and Dec 29th. On the order status page, est. ship date reads Jan 3rd and Jan 5th. I asked about the difference, and was assured that those dates given over the phone are the last possible day that they'll ship out...I guess time will tell. It's still too late b/c one of my units was supposed to here before new years so I can give it to my sister while she's in town. I wonder if Lenovo will pay for me to ship it to her

 

if it's too late, perhaps you can tell Lenovo to ship directly to her. just an idea.

Oh and as an update to the whole Z fiasco I was informed by a supervisor that it isnt a lack of shells. It has to do with the screen. One of the screen manufatures (not sure which one) went out of business without properly notifying lenovo. Therefore, there is a backorder to make up for all those screens that they do not have.

 

Yes. When packages are moved to shipped queue, it often means that they go to the dock for pickup.
Until UPS grabs and processes the boxes, they wont appear in the UPS system.

Well, My T60P 2613HPU was ordered on 11/21, est. ship date is 12/22. It has been more than 2 weeks already, but it's still "in process". It seems slower than most of the T60 orders I have seen on the forum here.

Is it because I made my order on the student/alumni page? Could it be the reason that caused the delay?

 

I ordered a T60 but I spoke to the supervisor about the Z series also and how they had an even longer wait. The T series are waiting for the RAM. The Z series have a backorder of screens due to one of their screen manufactures closing abruptly and without notice. I heard the backorder is 4-5 weeks.

Question guys why do most of you guys get your laptop in 2 days but it takes me a week? Does that mean my delivery day is the 14th? I am confused about what reschedule delivery means.

Mine also shipped today. Either I got the RAM before they ran out or that's not really why they're taking so long.

If only I could get some tracking information, I'd be golden. (other than having to make a special trip to pick it up)

I ordered the T60 in my sig over the phone (no EPP, student, or anything EPP pricing was worse than the price I paid) on 11/16. The estimated ship date has always been 12/19.

While I would like for it to have taken less time to build, I shouldn't complain, since it shipped in the timeframe the sales rep originally indicated.

 

My account doesnt show the tracking number actually. I got an email from a complaints supervisor to tell me that it shipped and he gave me may tracking number. I just can't believe it takes 7 days for me with express shipping. Im just happy it shipped.

 

Here's what I got today after sending an e-mail verifying that my CC has been charged. For some reason when I put my order through my CC information was wiped and only was told after I e-mailed the first time inquiring if there was any method to speed up the process.

But here's the big news.

I hope its true!!!!!!! A lot faster than the 1/05/07 estimated ship date.

PS My order is for a customized 15.4" z61m with 2gigs of RAM.

 

I got the EXACT same email (verbatim) with the only difference being my build date was 12/15. I ordered on 11/26. How about you?

 

I ordered 12/01. I wonder if their big memory shipment is arriving around 12/10 then.

Though mine was slightly pre-configured I think. I went through the Education route and picked a 15.4" Titanium with a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00ghz with X1400 Camera and Fingerprint reader which was closest to what I wanted (only cared about 15.4" and 2.00ghz Core 2 Duo) then changed its memory, hard drive size (120gig 5400), Optical drive, and threw in a battery for the Ultrabay.

 

My latest status:

 

I was told by my rep that the delay for the Z61t is the case, and the ram. I never heard of any delay due to the screen. I hope it'll ship before the end of the year.

Also, where did you guys send emails to to get the response w/ an estimated build date?

I ordered a customized T60 on 12/4 and the estimated ship date was 12/26. Fortunately it shipped today, 12/7. I called right after I placed the order to ask about the 12/26 date and was told that's just a default three week estimate and that it would likely ship much sooner.

So there was a memory backorder. Big mistake, but **** happens. I can let that slide. But now it seems they are shipping new orders right away while many of us who ordered in November are still stuck waiting, for what looks like about 2 more weeks. That is not acceptable.

Tomorrow I am going to call up and place a new order. But I will not cancel the old one. Whichever arrives first I will keep, and return the second. The only thing stopping me from ordering right now is that the price is a little higher than what I paid on 11/21, I want to see if they will lower it (and add the wireless N).

 

The RAM issue is not officially over until monday or tuesday of next week. I really do believe though that the only reason mine shipped is because of the complaint I made. My response had a tracking number on it. It seemed that my complaint finally got to someone that actually had some authority in the company to get the ball moving. I dont know. Right now Im kind of itchy about the shipping. Shipped on the 7th expedited and I wont be getting it until the 14th. Good grief.

 

The T60's are coming within a week of ordering right now. That means they might have already solved the memory problem.

How come the Z61's are not coming????

Last time I checked, both use the same memory.

 

No change in my status. A bit inconvenient for me as I will be in a different city each day next week.
Will have to ask UPS to hold it, after they make their first delivery attempt.

 

People have posted that both the display and the cases are backordered for the Z series. Since T's are shipping out, it does seem like memory has arrived, but too soon for the Z people, since the memory might run out by the time the displays and/or cases arrive.

Can someone tell me who they contacted to get that email regarding their build date and what is causing their delay? Thanks.

 

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to chime in and say that my T60 is shipping. I ordered a C2Duo 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 14" SXGA+, etc on Dec 1st. My shipment date said January 3 2007 when I ordered it! But, I just checked again and its shipping today! W00t!
