No switch, handles it on the fly on its own.

okay, so does this mean..
we can't use discrete graphics while unplugged and vice versa? In other words, is it out of the user's hands whether or not your laptop is set on discrete or integrated. -
Kev, ETA on the review? Tonight, tomorrow, Smarch?

In the ATI menu you can select max battery life or max perf for either battery mode or AC power mode. Depending on the current load (sitting on desktop or gaming) it switches to the best mode for that situation.
Basically you can let it go into high performance mode under battery or AC power. -
when can we expect the review?

-
wait, my other personality wants the review too.
+4 to that, then -
make it +4
-
make it +6
-
I think he's dodging that one lol
If he says tonight or whenever and it's a bit later, we'll burn NBR down -
I have to agree with that one.. there would be how many complaint treads..
-
A good rule of thumb to remember is that it will be done when it is ready.

Want to make the review go faster? I need someone with a T61 to tell me if their optical drive connector looks like this

I have a T61 14.1 inch and my optical drive connector looks like that drive connector in the picture.

It wont be up tonight, that I can say for sure. Dont wear out your F5 button.
-
Is there any reviews of a t500 coming?
-
hahaha, don't worry for my F5, i had a lenovo keyboard.
By the way, no pressure kevin, it's me being anxious. I agree that i want a good detailed review.
thanx man. -
I have a lot of reviews I need to see:
Lenovo T400 / T500 / W500
Dell M2400, M4400, E6500, E6400 -
It must be exciting to do something that many people are expecting...since it won't be on the NBR tonight...I can go to sleep early
-
I second the above post.
Kevin, thank you very very much for putting up with us! -

Well I can say with a good amount of certainty that the T400 first look will be up early next week (coughmondaycough). The T500 which is now in my hands will be following it soon after.
-
Excellent news, thanks!
-
-
Could you post the 3dmark results for both the T400 & T500 units when you get to that point.
-
How about reviews of the w500 and w700? With the news of the w700 I am starting to lean towards that model over the t series, but it would be nice to see reviews of them to compare. Thanks.

Just to get a general idea, about how impressed are you with the T400 and T500 Thinkpad laptops?
-
I think the T500 is too dim, personally. I know, I know, business laptop. Still.

Looking at the sale prices of the T400 to replace my T60.

I'm sorry but I wish I could believe that. I mean, I think that might be best case scenario, i.e., nothing on, screen nearly dark, idling.
I think that most notebooks with the same components these days should have similar battery life given a similar size battery. What this tells me is that the battery life seems to have gone up, which is always good. If the 9 cell could get 5 hours of usable battery life, I'd be happy. I usually cut the battery figures in half to get it right. Maybe I'm just venting b/c a T61 6 cell gave me 2.5 in what I consider ideal conditions. I want 4 hours off a six cell, 3/4 brightness, wifi. That's what I desire. I had an m1330 with six cell LED screen and that too gave me about 2.75 hours with brightness 2 notches from the top with just wifi. Oddly enough, my macbook pro really gets great battery life around 3.5 hours, which is completely strange to me since I think it must be the operating system that's responsible b/c again it's similar components and a similar-sized battery. -

is this comparable to the T500?

-

Nope -
darn! well i'll go check out the sr at the sonystyle to bide my time... thanks kevin
-
wait, to clarify, the T500 is getting 5.5-6hr with the 9cell battery? And this is w/ discrete graphics or integrated?
T500 seriously needs some LED bling -
dietcokefiend DietGreenTeaFiend
This is with discrete graphics and the 9-cell battery. Not really doing as well as the T400 which has the LED backlit screen and lower graphics card.

-
this is really coming down to a tough choice....14.1" versus 15.4"
Kevin, are you planning test out the gaming capabilities of both laptops?
Where are the reviews for the T400/T500/W500 - DEAD - DEAD
