The 3dmark should give you an overall idea of its gaming capabilities...and it's here in this thread

haha, i dont know how to connect 3dmark scores to which games it can handle.

I wonder if T400 can play Battlefield 2 on high settings

How about the battery life of the 4-cell?
I would prefer to sacrifice some battery life to not having the battery sticking out in the back! But it would be nice to know exactly how much is sacrificed.

Kevin, could you please provide the part number on the T400 you received (ie, 2765, 2764, etc). Thanks.

2767 type, but that is as far as it goes. The sticker on the box and bottom of notebook dont match the specs for our configuration.

The first look review of the T400 should come out on around next week....Monday I guess....so your question should be addressed there.

So does the T400 actually have the ATI 3640 (like it says on the website) or 3470(which I believe people think it has)?

I mean, the T400 has been up on Lenovo's site available to purchase for a while now, I would think that they would have corrected it by now if it was a typo...

Cooler than my T60 for sure. Same size (if not larger) heatsink assembly and fan, but consumes less power.

It's a 3470. The Lenovo staff is clueless. Also, didn't someone call Lenovo, and got the answer that the 3650 used flash memory? I mean... what more is there to say.

Hi I am deciding between the T400 and the HP Elitebook.

The other questions i have i think will be answered in the review anyways so i wanna know about the 4cell battery vs. higher ones - how much do they stick out and is it unconfortable if they do? How long does the 4 cell last and how is the weight affected? THe Elitebook has a 6cell battery "built in" and weighs 4.7pound

THank you very much for your help

Well, with the 9-cell batteries, the T400 is about 2.5 Kilos and T500 is about 3 Kilograms.

If you are concerned about size and battery life (who isn't) go with the 4 cell primary battery and the 3 cell ultra bay battery. Then you don't get anything protruding from your laptop but you get good battery life.

Any idea why they are now allowing customers to order several new laptops and there isn't a single review out? Their website is a mess (particularly in the UK) and they don't even appear to be sure of the specifications of their own notebooks. Who exactly is responsible for their PR? They need to be taken out and beaten with a very large stick.

For such a supposed premium brand their whole customer sales and marketing platform is a mess. Take Apple as an example, laptops are released on a certain date, are available for customers to order across the world on the same day with reviews available almost immediately in the media.

    Travel bezel included with X300?

    Kevin,
Could you set the T500 to maximum performance mode, then run at least 3 different benchmark programs "at the same time"? It is because I want to verify whether the CPU fan will make those "High frequency but Low volume" noise? The Sony FZ has similar noise which is "on->off->on" every other seconds after CPU has fully loaded at least 5 minutes. The Sony FZ and some HP is famous for that kind of noise. Please give some comment compaing to Sony FW. I need to make a decision between T500 and Fw. I need to use the notebook for coding and do a lot of technical reading. I never own a Thinkpad because the display is not bright at the showroom. Could you give some comment on the brightness? For some case such as some youtube clip is dim, so it will be nice if the notebook display can set more brightness when is needed.

    Appreciate your time. Thank you.

    Thank you very much!

It looks like I am going with the T400 finally!

    But I have another question

BEcause Vista Business is the only 64 Version they offer (and the only one i would prefer not to get) i was wondering if 3GB or Ram and 2GB of the Intel Turobo Cache will conflict (as 32Bit Vista can only handle 4GB) or are they on diffrent "systems" anyways. I am also worried that if I am buying 3 GB now and upgrade to 8 GB later that i have to "throw away" the old ones?

I think i will go with the 4 cell battery and in case i need more get an additional one later (at the Lenovo website it seems that the other batteries are the reason for shipping delays)

I wish there could be a better coupon then 5% (student/visa)...

    Kevin,
Does the T500 maximum brightness is as bright as Sony FW XBriteEco? On the other hand, the XBriteHiColor is too bright at maximum setting. The maximum setting of XBriteEco is acceptable even not super bright. Thank you.

FW for coding? Isn't 1600x900 a bit too "wide" for its height? I really miss the 14" 1400x1050 screen. 150 pixel is at least 8-9 lines of code. :(

IMO the perfect coding notebook should have a square screen, perhaps a 14" at 1200x1200. :)

I am looking forward to the T400 review. No pressure though.

I think a general concern for the T500 is

    - Brightness
    - Sound
    - Heat

For me, I'm holding off on purchasing the T500 to see if the T500's improved graphics and real estate is outweighed by a loud, hot, and dim laptop - if so, there would be no point in purchasing from Lenovo (known for its cool, quiet laptops) and I'd get a T400 instead

I would say the T500 rates a bit lower in the brightness scale overall. Nowhere near as bright as the T400 with LED backlit.

i think anyone ordering the T500 can expect the brightness will not compare to the led screen of the T400.

as for sound and heat... i dont see this being a huge concern. its a laptop so of course its gonna be hot and unless its an ssd hdd we can expect noises.
