Intel has been pulling this kind of crap forever. It's one of the main reasons I never use them if there's a viable alternative. They're infamous (at least to me and other people who have been paying attention since the early 90's) for doing exactly the kind of thing you're suggesting.

is this in stock anywhere now?
-
my ANTonline order was canceled due to no stock as well
-
Anyone got OEM connections so we could do a group purchase on the Samsung PM800 128GB mSATA SSD and forget the puny 80 GB Intel?
It has been shipping for a few months but you need to buy a laptop to get one.

Right now TigerDirect has them, just ordered one myself. Get it while its hot
Intel 80GB 310 Series mSATA SSD @ TigerDirect -

I just got one. Let's see if they really have it in stock!

for anyone trying to buy from provantage, if you see that their website shows a few number in stock, you can call them to push the credit card processing to bump you up. that's what i did when i saw their website was showing only 1 in stock. was told i gobbled the last one up
-
EDIT - Okay they got back to me with the tracking number and it's set to arrive tomorrow. -
anyone have a status update from tigerdirect? mine still says dispatched to drop shipper
-
Mine says the same thing. They claim that their 3rd party is "Ingram Micro". I think they might be lying.
-
I ordered one of these from AVA Direct on the 24th when it was listed as "low stock." On the 25th I received an email saying that it was scheduled to ship via UPS ground from Chicago and that I would receive an email with a tracking number within a day of shipment. Never heard anything on shipping so on Tuesday I emailed them asking what the deal was. They replied yesterday, saying that they didn't have the drives in stock and were waiting on a shipment from customs, who was holding the drives. Today I was notified that my order was cancelled because customs sent the drives back to their original destination. Evidently they had already charged my credit card and will refund it. I didn't even know you could charge someone's card if the product wasn't in stock. Seems a little shady to me - I don't like to order from places that indicate they have a product in stock when they don't. I will be avoiding AVA Direct in the future. In the mean time, if anyone knows a more reputable store that does have them in stock, I'd appreciate the information!

I posted this on another thread. (Sorry I didn't post here).
CAUTION re AVADirect:
I ordered the Intel 310 (for my M4600) from AVADirect because they said that they had 8 parts in stock. I called to confirm that the parts were in stock. While on the phone confirming this, I placed the order. Guess what? They have no parts in stock. This bait-and-switch tactic to secure an order is annoying. I spoke to the company president today who said that the parts WERE in stock when I asked, but that they then were sold within the 1 second that it took me to click "order." Meanwhile, I cancelled the order, but they charged my credit card anyway (and then credited it).
BEWARE of ordering anything from this company.
By the way, if you search around the internet, you can find that there are many bad experiences with this company, and even a lawsuit. -
I got mine in from ProVantage yesterday. It is sealed with tape that says "Please check tape integrity". This tape has been cut open and taped back over with clear tape. Anyone else experience this? Should I be worried?
My computer hasn't come in yet so I can't test it to see if it's good or not... -
Newegg has these in stock again.
-
-
Just to let you know, I ordered the "in stock" part from tigerdirect. After waiting for five days, I called to ask why it had not shipped. I was told that it was backordered. I canceled the order.
So, Tigerdirect lies. -
-
I know it is for different purposes, but $200 for 80GB sounds quite expensive to me, compared to $300 for a 320 160GB SSD ..
-
-
Finally, newegg had it in stock for more than 30 minutes. Never had them pull the fake stock on me before, in fact I've had orders change in my cart before finished because they ran out. Better than the alternative IMO.
Time to cancel my worthless "reserve order" at another place...
We know we're paying for the form factor, place a minicard next to a 2.5" drive and its pretty clear why -
-
I ordered one from newegg yesterday. They were available in the morning then went out of stock in the afternoon. But I kept refreshing the page and eventually it became available again late in the afternoon. At that point I quickly snatched it up. I got the order confirmation a few minutes later. Now I'm siked for my new W520.

As for the interface, its the same:
SSDMC (mini-SATA to SATA Adapter ver1.0) -
Newegg has gone up $10 on this since last week...
Just placed an order on Newegg for other stuff and noticed this. -
-
-
The market may be a small one but the mfg output is still smaller than the market or they would be available.

By the way, the Intel 310 80GB msata SSD is again available on Newegg.com.
This was as of 2300 (eastern time). -
Received now
oh, let it be known that it was 10 days beyond the ETA given when I ordered...
-
Amazon says they have it in stock right now from Price Pros at 1433 Central Time. What are the actual chances?
-
I ordered from Price Pros via Amazon, but they lie about their stock. They didn't have any, even though Amazon showed that they had stock. Stick with Newegg (mine will be here in a few hours....).
-
-
I just ordered one too. I guess you and I took #'s 6 and 7. Hopefully it shows, I was shocked to see them in stock.
Update: Well the order status is now "prepping for shipment" so that might be a good sign. -
Mine already says "shipped" and I've got a UPS tracking number. Still says it will take up to 10 days.
-
just got mine from Newegg
-
just got vs just ordered? They're out of stock everywhere I've looked. I'm about to get a Renice or a MyDigital instead.
-
IMO keep camping newegg, they seem to have consistently gotten it in stock every few days the last 2 weeks. They are known to not lie about having stock, if your order goes through you get one, if it runs out before it will pull it before you can finish checkout. (lost quite a few items because I was browsing too long on big sale days)
Keep in mind you are competing with people like me who got sick of looking all over the net and wrote scripts to send a message when the page changes to in stock -
Hmm. UPS tracking number from Price Pros has been updated with the status "The sender has voided the UPS tracking number created for this shipment. UPS does not have possession of this shipment."
Update: Order canceled. Price Pros joins the list of "less than truthful".
Update update. Received this in an email" "While processing your order, our warehouse noticed that the package was damaged and is not in a shippable condition. Unfortunately, the Intel Solid-State Drives 310 series - Solid state drive - 80 GB - internal - PCI Express Mini Card is currently not available and we do not have a confirmed ETA for the next shipment. Therefore, we are unable to ship a replacement item.
I'll leave you to form your own opinion... Did you get one of these emails mam4983? That would certainly be a coincidence if BOTH our shipments were damaged. -
My order was also cancelled and I received an email informing me that they no longer had the drives in stock. I responded telling them they lived up to their reputation as a less than truthful company and they apologized for the inconvenience.
Update: I just gave up and ordered a MyDitigalSSD 128GB. -
Just ordered one from SSDeStore Storage Evolution 199 for the 80gb 310. Supposedly plenty in stock and more coming next tues. We'll see.
-
hmm. Didn't see anything other than a web contact form for the SSDeStore, which usually makes me a little uneasy. There is another seller right now on Amazon claiming a few left in stock, but I have given up on that route.
I wrote Amazon about my Price Pros experience and asked how folks like me can still provide feedback since the "Leave Feedback for Seller" option is removed once an order is canceled. Have not yet heard back from Amazon.
I had written Price Pros and let them know that their reputation was being discussed in online forums like this. I offered to help clear their name if they could prove they ever had this drive in stock. They responded that they could not prove it.
In the mean time I received another email from Price Pros:
"While processing your order, our warehouse noticed that the package was damaged and is not in a shippable condition.
Unfortunately, the “Item description” is currently not available and we do not have a confirmed ETA for the next shipment. Therefore, we are unable to ship a replacement item and have refunded your order."
As you can see, they were too lazy to even update the "item description" field in their form letter. Stay away. -
ssdestore also has the newegg logo on their photos. I'll pass.

A question for ALL of you on this thread:
Why is it so important that you get the 80gb version which is out-of-stock? The 40gb version seems to be in stock everywhere. What's wrong with that? I'm assuming all of you have a regular HDD for data storage and you want to use the SSD to install your OS for fast booting, etc. Why is 40gb not sufficient for this? -
The space buffer doesn't hurt either. Not all will use a physical drive in conjunction with the SSD.
Where to get Intel 310 80GB
