We've had the first report from maHAMMER in the main X1C thread of a Thinkpad X1 Carbon shipping (he was provided a tracking number) so I thought it could be helpful for those of us who have placed orders to share shipping information in a dedicated thread.
Any/all of the following information would be helpful:
1. Date/time & where ordered (and price would be nice)
2. Configuration
3. Shipped-To Location
4. Estimated Ship Date (Original/Updated)
5. Actual Ship Date
6. Estimated Arrival Date
7. Actual Arrival Date
Here's mine:
1. 17/08/2012 15:21 PST from Barnes & Noble Gold; double stacked 10% newsletter and and USX discounts for $999 pre-tax
2. Base model, no upgrades (3443CTO ThinkPad X1 - 1 Year Depot Warranty)
3. Santa Cruz, California (although looking into rerouting to NY - any idea on what kind of delay this could create? I was told by a Lenovo rep that I couldn't reroute until after I had received a UPS tracking number.)
4. Original 8/26 now 8/28. However, I just received a reply to an email I sent to Lenovo Web Sales and the rep said 8/29. I emailed back to confirm.

Upon calling the service center earlier today (1-866-428-4465), I've heard from a service center rep that they are expecting delays for this new product. Exact reason is unknown , but he told me it was due to shortage of parts etc. He told me I won't be expecting my unit until like around September. I am not sure if the information he told me is accurate, I will update you guys on this. -

Spoken with Sales Rep about delay issue, and possible cancellation. Got Acknowledgement, waiting on response. -
I also just spoke to Lenovo - they said mine will be shipped by the end of the day - which made NO sense. They said it's being shipped today from China. If my International Date Line logic is correct, today has already ended in China (I think??).
They said it will be shipped to SOMEWHERE in the US and then shipped UPS ground to the customer. They didn't know WHERE in the US it's initially shipped to.
I didn't get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling to the person I spoke to.
follow-up: The web site still shows today's date (23-Aug), but I called and was told it would be shipped tomorrow (24-Aug).

Lenovo shipments from China always go through Anchorage, Alaska, then on to Kentucky, where they go through customs. From there, it's shipped to the final destination. That whole process can take as little as 4 days, but delays in customs can extend that.
-
30 day delay!!! Crap, that sucks.
I spoke to lenovo again today and they did say my order will ship before the end of the week. I have a feeling this wont happen.
Poor planning on lenovos part with this X1. If it wasnt ready to go they should have not taken orders. We have been waiting so long for this anyway, whats another few weeks (pushing back the launch) -

How is this possible? 8/19 is group 2 or 3, there are a bunch of us that ordered on the 14th and dont have ship dates. Are you sure yours actually shipped? Good for you if it did. -

I ordered 8/16, considering that group 1 i guess, I spoke with the agent couple times, and my date and time has been solid, 8/23, just waiting for the shipping confirmation. It really depends on which model you have ordered i think, not when you have ordered it.

UPDATE -9pm -- my status on my order has changed to "Released to Manufacturing"

Looks like the 8GB configurations were delayed? My order status is similar to yours.

That's definitely a possibility. Mine is custom since I upgraded the SDD from 128GB to 256GB too. So it's possible the base configurations are sent out more quickly.
-
It could be a possibility but I hope that these delays are not long as I have read some other users on this thread already asking to cancel their orders.
I don't think that looks good for Lenovo especially for a 20th anniversary model.
Atleast let your customers know that their is a delay of sorts. Here's hoping that they have shipped but never gotten around to updating all users status page. Wouldn't it be nice to come back from work tomorrow afternoon to find your devices waiting for you at your doorsteps! Ha!
-
Yeah. I hope there isn't as big of a delay as some have been seeing, and the system is just incorrect. It's not the first time they've made mistakes. On the other hand, a rep did tell me theyre may be some shortages of parts. But again, they have been wrong many timse before.
I'm sure we'll see the first batch delivered starting next week. I'm hoping mine actually comes on Thursday.
Not much longer! -

Called Lenovo today about my i5/8gb/128gb order from 8/14. Original ship date was 8/23, Lenovo has moved it to 9/20. They will "try to ship it as quickly as possible", but there are delays.
-
Maybe I always get the worst reps, because this woman said she saw no delays on the shipping of my computer, it was supposed to ship on the 23rd. I ordered the base configuration. I'm not really sure whats going on here, because there is a lot of different info coming in. Lenovo should just find a story and stick to it.
-
I cancelled my order due to late shipping. I'm moving and needed the unit now, otherwise I'll be gone.
This is my first Lenovo purchase and I gotta say I'm extremely dissatisfied with the customer service. It was like pulling teeth getting my order cancelled and my money back. Each rep says something different. -
This is unlike Lenovo. I have been ordering from them for years and I am always happy. This experience is a bit frustrating. The released this computer too early. They knew there was huge demand for this PC, they should have has the bins stocked with the required parts. This is NOT a good way to ring in the 20th anniversary.
-
My guess is that the 8gb model is delayed, and there are plenty of 4gb boards to go around.
-
I hope. But I still have not ETA on shipping.....I asked what models are delayed and if the base is good to go, and the rep said he doesnt know. All they know is that supply is working on it.
-
If there's one HUGE deficiency in the Lenovo ordering process, it's the ability to cancel an order - even within minutes of placing it. You're right - eveyone you talk to has a different story.
The other deficiency is pricing - buying from Lenovo is more like buying a car. There's lots of wiggle room. You can always get a 20% discount from the published prices just by negotiating on the phone - never buy from the web site!

I contacted Lenovo this morning about the ship date of my X1 Carbon and they said they were waiting on the internet dongle!I said your kidding right! I told them to ship that to me latter. Gee Wiz!!!!!!!
-
What config? and what was the order date?
-
i5-3427U 256GB 4 GB Aug. 14th!
-
1. Date/time & where ordered (and price would be nice) - August 19th, 2 am, Lenovo Corporate Perks, paid $1503
2. Configuration - i5/8gb/256gb
3. Shipped-To Location - El Paso, TX
4. Estimated Ship Date (Original/Updated) Original: 8/27/2012, current: 8/28/2012
So far I've talked to three CSRs and been told the same thing: my order has only been delayed by a day and could be shipping sooner than 8/28. I'm not able to check the order status from "my account", but the order status web page still shows the initial date of 8/27/2012. -
Ordered on 08/17/2012 - shipment date 08/26/2012 i5,8gb,256 hd. Just called Lenovo to get updated status. Was told that mine would not ship until 2nd week of Sept. I told the agent I wanted to cancel. He offered me $50.00 to keep the order. I asked for $100.00. Then he offered me the max. $150.00 off to keep the order.
Here is the email confirmation he sent:
"I have approved a concession of $150. Please send me a reminder to the same email add and we will approve the amount after your order ships out . If you have any doubts please contact me .This concession is only for this order . " -
Can you talk more about your experience with this? How far below the EPP pricing do you get?
Thanks! -
I paid 1124.10 for the base from the site. I had a 10% off for sighing up for the news letter. I thought that was a pretty good price....anyone else? I bet Im going to have buyers remorse after I hear people paid under 1K. I would be interested to know how others got good pricing.
-
I think the lowest, non-haggle price you can get for the base is a hair under $1000. If you sign in through the EPP website and then apply your 10% coupon, you end up getting a mixture of the discounts and it comes out to slightly less than a thousand. There are a few other ways of getting to the same price, including B&N. If you don't mind the delay, you could always call and cancel, then re-order.

Lurker for a few weeks, figured I'd throw my hat in the ring with my updated order status.
1. Ordered on 8/14 at 9:45pm PDT
2. i5 1.8ghz with 8gb ram, 256gb ssd
3. San Francisco, CA
4. Original expected ship date was 8/22. Today (in the past hour, since I last frantically hit refresh), it now says 8/26. Odd, as that's Sunday.
5. -
6. The order status page says it expects a delivery on 9/3 now..
7. -
When the status changed to give me a ship date of 8/26 and arrival date of 9/3, it also changed my order status from "Released to Manufacturing" to "In Production". I'm trying to be optimistic that this will be accurate... -
Same exact thing on my end. So 9/3 it is, it will be a nice B-day present to myself (sept 2nd, B-Day)
-
Ordered on the 15th
Lenovo web site still shows 8/23 as the ship date
my credit card was charged on the 23rd (yesterday)
I called today (24th) and was told it would be shipped today by the end of the day
Web site doesn't show it as NOT shipped - still shows "Released to Manufacturing" -
mine is similar to your case, I have a feeling its a supply chain problem in Asia, cuz reps told me i won't be expected til like september. im kinda furious cuz every other rep tells me something different and nobody knows what is going on
-
Time for me to have a little chat with Lenovo and see if I can get a "concession" for them missing their shipping date.
-
Well, I called this AM - (866-428-4465) and selected option 2 (check status) - the recording said the sales center was closed and indicated the hours were 9am - 6pm on Saturday (I called at 9:40am). I called back and pressed option 1 (to purchase) and the sales person was helpful, but had bad news. He said it would probably be another week before it was shipped. He said that all the orders with ship dates from around the 20th and after would be about a week late due to the fact that they just can't manufacture the computers fast enough.
bert -
Ordered base model on 15th. Expected 8/23 ship.
Called 866 426 0179. Says that the "panel" and "case" are backordered and new "future ship date" (not listed on order status page) is 9/20. I said that that was ridiculous. Why is it that they can claim to be shipping new orders on 9/3? ThinkPad X1 Carbon | Shop | Lenovo | (US)
Very disappointed so far... almost seems fraudulent. -
