Ditto. Apparently someone at Lenovo is reading this thread.![]()
-
-
From what I understand, the 8gb config is taking the longest time to deliver.
Bert -
Ditto. Hoping it ships that date but gets here a bit quicker!
-
Same configuration, same update on mine. 8/27 ship, 9/04 delivery.
-
What was your original order price before the concession - want to see where the floor is here.
-
Ordered an i5, 4gb mem, 128 gb ssd back on 8/14. Original ship date was 8/23, but now says 8/27 just like the ones above. So it's not just the 8 gb mem ones being pushed out.
Saw a report of a shipping delay discount above. Did anyone get those for this minor slip in the date? -
I got $150.00
-
What were you paying before the $150 discount?
-
Has anyone received a tracking number from the ones that were supposed to ship today? I didnt.....If mine is not shipped by tomorrow when I wake up im going to cancel.
-
Same as you, estimated ship date was 2012/08/26, but still no tracking number and status is still "In Production".
I would call the rep tomorrow morning if it still doesn't ship. -
I ordered 14th, should have shipped 25th. Lenovo Representative said that it won't ship until the 5th of September.
-
Same here too. Estimated ship date 2012/08/26, but my status still reads "Released to Manufacturing". If they end up delaying, I'll likely cancel and wait to see the Acer S7 as it's supposed to be out at the end of Sep with specs that look too good to be true.
-
Order date: 8/15/12 at like 10PM EST
configuration: i7, 4GB, 256GB
location: outside of Philly
Estimated ship date: 8/23/12, now its 8/27/12
Estimated arrival date: 9/4/12 -
Skyland, yours is scheduled to arrive today, did it?
-
My guess is that the S7 will probably be released with W8 after October 26th. I would not count on a late September shipping date on that notebook.
-
I just sent lenovo a really long email explaining the situation and how unhappy I am with them. I have purchased 4 lenovos in the last 2 years all for person use, I have never had this issue before. I was told today they expect it to ship within the next 24-48 hours.....same BS that I have gotten for the last week. The frustrating part is they are giving everyone a different story and keep missing expected ship dates. I would rather be told September and be surprised if it ships earlier then be told dates that keep getting pushed. I am going to give it 24 more hours before I cancel. At this point the only way im keeping my order if it doesnt ship tomorrow is if I get a 200$ credit.
Lenovo was marketing this PC hard, and received lots of feedback and demand for the product, for them not to be ready for the demand at the launch is extremely poor. It would be a different story if they were 3 months in and had a production issue, but for them not have the correct parts for possibly one of the biggest launched in company history.....thats sad. And to make it worse, the way the CSR staff and management handled the situation, very poor. -
perhaps all the misinformation that was reported in various reviews about the X1C (i.e., IPS screen at Znet, optional 3G, 3-year warranty and incorrect pricing) should have been a tipoff that they didn't have their act together for the launch.
mine's still listed as shipping tomorrow but at this point based on what i'm reading i'm not holding my breath... -
While I agree with everyone's frustration in the matter, the delay in shipping was expected by me. It seems that demand for the X1C caught Lenovo by surprise. The X1 Carbon thread is almost 200 pages long and that's before the laptop was even out. Compare that with the X230 thread.
-
My estimated shipping date was 8/25/2012. The estimated delivery date is this Thursday, 8/30/2012. I'm starting to doubt it shipped since I haven't received a tracking number and my account hasn't been charged.
I ordered the moment these went up for pre-order on the 14th with the 256GB / 8GB / i5 model. -
Perhaps. They did put out an announcement that it will be available at the end of September in UK, but I know these things usually slip.....as we know only too well
-
Has your status changed or does it still say estimated shipping date? Mine is still listed as 26/8 estimate, same configuration.
-
Nothing has changed. I'm talking to an online rep now and was told..
I am sorry to inform you that the order is not shipped and there is no updated estimated shipping date from our supply team. I have therefore sent a request to our supply team for the updated information and will send you an e-mail once I get the update.
I really have no clue what's going on. I guess a supply shortage makes sense. -
This is my point. Lenovo marketing team should have been all over this and relaying info to production/planners etc... Lenovo blew this thing up, they probably spent more on marketing this product than any other, what did they expect to sell, 200 on go live?. Even if the planned go live date was 8/14 and re forecaster and realized they didnt have the parts, they could have pushed it one week this way they do not get jammed up (like they are now) I can imagine how much extra this is costing lenovo in expedited shipping (for parts) re planning (labor hours) & overtime in production.
Really its not the delay is shipping that bothers me, its the missed ship dates and the re issue of ship days that are random at best. Just be clear on whats going and and give a real ETA, make it worse case scenario and surprise me if it ships early. We all just spent over 1K on a computer, we deserve to know what the story is and when we can expect our product. I know my CC has been charge...so . -

FWIW, I cancelled my order. It's already Tuesday in China - and the order hadn't shipped. Plus, with all of the bad reviews on battery life, I decided this may not be the computer I hoped for.
-
So I'm struggling in that I want the laptop and if I receive valid info on when it will be shipping etc. Ill stay in the game but in talking with the Rep he said that the shipping day is one more day then what I'm seeing on my order status. I feel like I'm getting played!I ordered on the 14th. My first ship date was to be the 23th. Next updated date according to my order status was to be the 27th. The Rep told me no its the 28th. What will they tell me tomorrow?
-
Well, 8/26 has long come and gone in both China and the US. My estimated ship date is still 8/26, with delivery 9/3 and status of "In Production".
Lenovo still has the payment on hold -- the charge shows as pending since 8/14. So they haven't actually charged my card yet.
I'm curious if those claiming your card has been charged, has it been? Or did they just put a hold on the money? The difference may seem like splitting hairs, but it means that the money is like being in escrow. It's still in your bank's hands, no interest is being charged (if applicable), and you cancel the charge instead of putting a charge-back.
I suspect if your card actually is charged, it means your laptop is shipping or has shipped.
Also, high demand is no excuse for a "parts shortage" delay. If they underestimated demand, then they should sell out quickly. Not delay the orders that have been placed.
Only something unforeseeable is a valid excuse here -- customs hold, factory fire, etc. Everything else is just an explanation and a disappointment.
Excerpt from my original post below for my personal context:
-
Cancelled my order as well.
-
1. Aug. 16 $974.22 (CAD) - 22% off list
2. base (i5/128GB/4GB)
3. Windsor, ON
4. original Aug. 20; updated to Aug. 24; now showing Aug. 28
5. N/A
6. N/A
7. N/A
I should mention that I got 5% cashback through Ebates as well as a $70 discount for the delay from a Lenovo CSR off the $974.22 price quoted above. All-in-all I will be looking at roughly a $950 net after 13% HST (Canadian sales tax).
As for the delay I was told the problem was two fold: one has to do with the ethernet dongle, the other has to do with a shortage of hinges (for the screen?). I told them I don't care about the dongle... -
I've been checking with them almost daily (my estimated ship date was 8/27, but since Thursday of last week the CSRs have been telling me it's 8/28, even though the order detail does not reflect that) and I'm still being told it will ship out tomorrow. I am thinking all the cancelations have them promising customers their systems are going to ship on time and hoping the more patient ones won't cancel. I am not one of those more patient customers, plus I need this computer for school, so put me in the cancelation column if it hasn't shipped out tomorrow.
-
Update on my order:
1. 8/14 at around 7am CST
2. i5/8GB/128GB/1YRWarranty
3. Texas
4. 8/21 -> 8/25 -> 8/29
5. n/a
6. n/a -> 8/30 -> 9/06
7. n/a
Credit card has not been charged. Trying to be patient but I'm not very optimistic about getting my machine anytime soon... -
Just talked to a rep about five minutes ago. Ordered on 08/17/2012. Estimated shipping date is 08/26/2012. The rep told me that my item was shipping today. That I should get an email later on today with a tracking #. Checked my visa credit card, item has been charged. Available credit is a lot lower. Under 'Temporary authorizations' it shows the amount of $1563.33 charged to the Lenovo Group on 08/25/2012. This is for the i5,8gb of RAM,256gb hard drive. Maybe something is moving or going to move soon on Lenovo's part. Plus I still have a concession of $150.00, that should take my final price down to $1413.00. I can live with that.
-
I just called to cancel and was asked to give it another 24 hours in return for a 5% discount, I agreed. But if its not shipped by 3pm tomorrow I am going to cancel and prob never order from lenovo again.
-
-
I just called a rep and got a 5 % discount. I would love to say that i felt like it was going to be shipped in the next 24 hours but I don't feel that is going to be the case. She kept bringing up the first week in Sept. as a ship date. She said she would know more tomorrow and communicate then!
-
I appreciate some of you posting this here. I was able to do the same. They credited me another $75 which is about 5% of my $1503 on the 8GB / 256GB / i5 model. I guess it makes the wait more worth it. He mentioned my estimated ship date is now the 30th....lol. But it could be earlier or later than that.
-
Glad to see people getting discounts. The only way to make a company know you displease of what they did it to cut into margin. Anyone else who is delayed should call for the discount too.
-
Keep in mind, my rep said to request the refund after, since it will not automatically be discounted when I'm originally charged. He apparently notated my account. I don't know if this is the case for everyone.
It's good that i got it down to $1427 (after the employee discount, newsletter discount, and now this 5%) since the same model now is $1959. -
Getting a little woried. Ordered The X1 Carbon i5 w/ 8GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD on 8/16 had an estimated ship date of 8/26. Now I check today (8/27) and the estimated ship is 9/25!!!
Anyone else got it this bad? -
Same thing happened for me. They made a note on my account and I need to communicate back with them to get the credit! Good info urbanglowcam!
-
A horrible mistake...
it did arrived, but just the VGA adapter. The estimate ship date is 08/28. -
same here.
ordered i5 3427 w/8GB & 128GB SSD HDrive on aug 15. it's supposed to ship on aug 26 but now have changed to sep 26
.
i'm a huge fan of thinkpad for years and owned 4 thinkpad notebooks which never let me down. I love this 20th anniversary model to death after doing alot research. Someone complain about battery life but it is not an issue at all to me. now I tell myself to have more patience and keep my finger crossed.
-
I too am a Thinkpad Fan, having had the R52, X41T, X60T, X61T and X200. I'd be happy to help celebrate their 20th Anniversary, if they would just ship the Laptop. I'm just dissapointed that they haven't communicated these delays better, but instead they continue to hype the X1 Carbon, creating even more demand and more delays.
Well... Now it's going to "Released to Manufacturing" Maybe there is some hope... -
I ordered on 8/20 and my ship date is now 9/26. I'm not really in a rush, but the sooner the better. Its been RTM since 8/21.
-
Ordered today 8/27. Expected ship date 9/5 Getting an i5,8gb,256 SSD Not in a great hurry . . guess its a good thing LOL
-
Just watch - you will get yours before the people who ordered the first day it was available!

On the lenovo site the, Intel Core i7-3667U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz), Intel HD 4000 Graphics in Intel Core i7-3667U Processor with 4GB 1333MHz DDR3L On Board says "Ships in more than 4 weeks**"
Now thats a real bummer! WOW! Thats lame! -
Hey, watch the language. We run a G rated forum around here.
-
I apologize. Thought using the *^$ (beep) was ok.
