Well, my order of 8/27 went from "in production" to "order received" a couple of weeks ago . . like everyone else. But this morning it changed. Now all my order shows is the 90w adapter. No computer listed "at all." I also had a DVD burner, Ehernet Adapter, and Bluetooth mouse on the order (that has been delivered) and none of those are on the order page now. Guess I'll wait till later in the morning and call . . . Starting to believe that this computer can't be good enough to compensate for this.
-
The Good news: One of my 8/15 orders shipped (8gb/128gb)
The Bad news: I already cancelled this order (and I have confirmation email).
I'm thinking of calling them when I get it and haggling down a lower price... we'll see how that goes.
No idea what to do with my real order if it ships...
EDIT: Does anyone know what a good price for an i5/8gb/128gb was? My order has it for $1,359.15 (pre-tax). Is this a good/is it the best deal on this offering? -
My 8/19 order of 8gb/256gb was updated sometime this evening; it still says "In Production", but the estimated shipping date is now 9/11, from 9/18. I haven't received any kind of tracking email, though. Maybe those sloths finally got around to finishing my machine.
-
darn it: my order was severely amended this morning without reason --
my x1c has disappeared, as had the 3.0 dock, the 3-yr onsite/accidental/premium phone, the 90-watt AC adapter. the only thing showing is the already shipped usb wired keyboard that i also ordered.
the order's TOTAL dollar amount is correct though.
what should i do now? i'm at a loss, like many others preceding me on this issue. -
I don't trust anything the website says. My item that was shipped now shows "Non-Shippable"
-
Kindly excuse my french, but... is "Non-Shippable"?!???!
What the heck is going on in this behemoth of a corporation over there? Does the right hand really have no idea what the left hand is doing? How are they able to spit out these uber machines then?
My limited understanding is that Lenovo was something like the world's #3 largest computer maker PRIOR to acquiring the ThinkPad division from IBM! #3 ain't so little! -
That seems like a really great price. Same config as I just ordered and mine is probably $50 more expensive.
-
I am going to wait until the initial orders subside before I place mine. I can wait until october when win8 drops. Hopefully the price mellows back down to that $1500 point for i5/8gb/256.
-
I emailed my sales rep (with whom i've had no previous order history with) and this is his reply:
"That can be ignored. Everything looks perfect on my end. Enjoy your week!"
I do not believe that at all. I think he just wrote whatever came to his mind which would get me off his back. What do y'all with similar experiences think, please? -
You're asking the wrong group of people, lol. To most of us, everything that comes out of Lenovo is a baldfaced lie.
-
According to UPS, mine should arrive tomorrow (in Calgary) - but its been stuck in Louisville since Sunday midnight... Better be moving soon...
-
I called this number 866-426-0179 and got thru to a person quickly. I had the same problem with my x1 and several accessories being removed from the order status this morning. She (like an earlier post) said on her end everything looked fine. She was aware that many had a order status where the computer's had been removed. She assured me it still was a part of Lenovo's updating process due to the ethernet shortage and that by the first of next week it should be all sorted out.
I'll wait it out a few more days. I got a good price and a concession for the confusion a few days ago. -
dude, giving them a call maybe ease your mind a little bit. But dont count on any definitive explanations they can give you on the phone.
-
well, good idea BUT...
if i call, i ought to call my sales rep, right? other sales reps on the phone will NOT be helpful. as i had said previously, essentially, they view the guy who's already made a purchase as one who's already shot his wad, so they don't want to bother with you anymore! only my sales rep, who basically doesn't want to deal with someone who's ordered already, but feels a little bit of an obligation to, would still bother replying to my emails or talking to me on the phone.
since he replied via email already, albeit a useless and probably not-thought-out email answer and even probably an outright lie, calling him would just get him more pissy and likely not be able to get anything useful from him.
i have no idea if the x1c would magically reappear?
i do not believe that any company's "computer database updating process" would LOSE orders as it is updating. that would be on sh_tty computer updating system if there ever was one!
sheesh. infuriating. -
I ordered an i5/8gb/256gb on 8/16. After seeing others here state they got their order modified to remove the USB dongle, I called on Friday. After arguing with a sales rep who said it wasn't possible, I finally got to talk to a sales manager. He said it can be done, but it's a manual process and he would take care of it himself. Today I check my order status and now it's cancelled. I'm hoping there is another order in their system with my name on it. I have no clue if I shoud wait or reorder. I emailed the sales manager and am waiting on a response.
-
call customer service dept (not sales) and choose "order status" option. good luck
.
-
mine is also an i5/8gb/256, and it disappeared from my order page this morning. it was still there last night.
see my post above. i emailed my sales rep but he gave me a generic "no problem" reply. damn. -
Just talked to a rep about my 8/23/12 order. He said that mine (now showing a 9/10/12 estimated ship date) will ship on 9/21/12 due to 2 things: Dongle and Bluetooth. That affects other models: the T430s and the Y[something].
Lenovo will reportedly receive the dongles on 9/16/12, but can't comment to shipping until 9/20/12, which is a Sunday so will go out on the 21st. Cancellation takes 3 to 5 business days, he said.
Arg - I was going to go with the T430s, but that is delayed too... so what to do? Has anyone gotten them to ship theirs earlier by yelling, actually cancelling, etc? I'm pretty mild mannered, so don't get visibly agitated on the phone; however, I'm happy to alter my demeanor if it gets me moved up the rung a bit. -
Mine wasn't removed. It was cancelled. Both unerving, but different.
-
I don't think so; it appears most shipments so far have been based on chance, as there's no discernible logic to what has gone out. Base models, higher end models, and middle models have all gone out to people with order dates varying from launch day to just a week ago. It's pretty infuriating.
-
8/20 ordered, 4gb model
arriving on Thursday -
I received Ship Email last night at about 11:00 PM CST. I had i5/128gb/4gb and ordered on 8/30. This morning the UPS Tracking was updated to show:
Shanghai, China 09/11/2012 8:51 P.M. Export Scan
09/11/2012 8:51 P.M. Origin Scan
China 09/11/2012 10:43 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
I'm not sure why the "Order Processed" comes after the scans...but hoping it's on it's way or gets on its way soon. UPS Tracking shows 9/14, Lenovo Status Page says 9/13. I'm hoping it's 9/13, because it will be hard to receive it on Friday.
Has anyone received theirs earlier than UPS's tracking date?
To anyone that got the 2-3 day shipping, how long did it end up taking?
And what will the tracking notice be when it's actually on it's way?
Also to anyone that is still waiting, I had a lot of luck talking to the sales people. They seemed more knowledgable and gave me an accurate shipdate by checking "warehouse status' or something along those lines. -
When did you get your shipping email? Tracking first updated? And which shipping did you have, normal or expedited?
-
It wouldn't surprise me if the stacked coupon orders that then received price concessions due to the delay are stuck at the back of the line.
-
while this seems uber bright of them to do, i personally seriously doubt it. ya know why?
they aren't sufficiently organized enough to do that!
they don't appear to have their sh_t together enough to pull that off! -
Mine is set to be dropped off tomorrow 9/12. Order on 8/19 (i5,128gb,4gb) with stacked coupons for $999.20. I'll update tomorrow whether I received my ethernet dongle.
-
Well, throw my theory out the window. lol
-
well...ahem...hate to say it...but...told ya so
-
I ordered on the 19th as well and did not even get a tracking number yet. I've went ahead and asked for a cancellation.. tired of waiting
-
Ordered i5/8gb/256 on 8/16 with a price of $1543 (before tax). Was not given the option about the USB adapter, but my order status/detail page does show "USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter."
After initially placing the order I think the ship date was 8/23 or 8/27, which came and went. Then like many others order status went back to order rec'd and total went to $0.00 and then finally back to "In Production." The online ship date has been steady now for about a week showing 9/19 and 9/26 as delivery date. However, one rep thru email and one over the phone both said shipping estimate is 9/17.
Just called now the number posted above (866-426-0179) (sales) but then was transferred to order status dept. When I asked to cancel they promptly offered $77 credit, which I accepted.
Now, just since this call, my online order status page has been bumped out again to show 9/26 and 10/03 for shipping estimates, but I'm still hopeful of the 9/17 date that they have told me. -
So I just received a phone call from a Lenovo manager to discuss the status of my order.
While being very apologetic, he's informed me that my order is once again delayed. The ethernet dongle issue is "completely worked out", and no longer is the cause of any delay. However, there is now a shortage of the 256GB SSDs that will cause my laptop to be delayed.
He refused to give any estimates, because he didn't feel he can guarantee them.
The order status page puts my ESD at 9/19, which he says might be correct. He also said that it could ship out tomorrow, or a week from now, or even miss that 9/19 date. He was confident that it'd be shipped within two weeks, but again wouldn't guarantee anything.
I asked him about others who ordered after me getting their laptops (I ordered 8/14), and he acknowledged that it was happening, as other configurations without the 256GB SSD were being sent out.
As I recall, there were some people with the 256GB SSDs who have had theirs ship.. but I'm unsure if any of them ordered after me, and am far too lazy to go searching through the last 10 pages of posts.
So my status:
Ordered 8/14 the i5/8gb/256gb configuration, currently delayed an indeterminate time not expected to exceed two weeks due to an SSD shortage.
This means I'll most likely have my credit card charged at least once more before it ships.. -
Man, what a bummer for both of us since I ordered the same config 5 days after you.

This just provides further evidence of why the OEMs are making a mistake going with proprietary flash storage form factors. Intel should have forced the mSATA standard as part of the Ultrabook™ logo qualifications. Then there would be multiple sources for drives.
But frankly, Lenovo obviously can't handle basic materials management. If they didn't have the SSD, they should NOT have taken the damn order.
What a bunch of bozos. -
Is the order status page working for any of you today? I've been getting the "server not found" error all day. I'm referring to the Order Status link on the bottom of the main Lenovo site, which directs to this address: Search Index
-
It works for me.
-
Yes, there are orders with the 256 ssd already sent out. I used a couple examples when I talked to sales support about my order that has not shipped yet.
-
so does the really mean that all of us who selected 256gb ssd's will be delayed with an indeterminate "ship date"?
this sucks. -
They are joking, right? Another two weeks! I ordered i5/8GB/256GB on 14th.
-
I have the i5/8gb/256 config (ordered on the 16th) and was told the expected ship date is 9/17 (Monday), so we'll see...
-
The funny part about this thread is there was about 15 people on page one, now on page 64 there is a whole new group of people going through the same thing we went through back 64 pages ago. I only see a few folks that are the original, kind of sad.
-
I definitely recall at least a couple of the 256gb configurations shipping.. but what I don't recall is if they ordered on 8/14 as well.
A part shortage can certainly see some ship out, but clearly there's a huge mistake here on ordering parts.
I'm wondering how many Lenovo systems use this SSD..
If indeed this is an SSD unique to the X1, then I'm going to be more frustrated. For those of us who ordered on day 1, I cannot believe that in the past 4 weeks they haven't been able to secure enough of these for us.
My guess is that another laptop model uses the same SSD, didn't have the ethernet dongle delay, and ended up using the whole stock of them..
But who knows. All I know is what I was told, and I take it with a grain of salt.
The manager I've spoken to has always been very careful to not guarantee anything .. he clearly knows how this game is played. -
This was 2 minutes ago:
Me:
I wanted to inquire about my order status for order XXXXXXX. I was told it would ship mid september, but last night the shipping estimate changed from 9/18 to 9/11. I wanted to see if this was accurate, or if it was just an error in the system
Agent:
Sure I will be glad to assist you.
I apologize for the inconvenience.
One moment please while I check on this.
Thank you for your time. As per our records, the order will ship out on the 16th of September 2012. Once the order ships out it will take 3 to 5 business days for the package to get delivered. You will also receive a shipping confirmation via e-mail and along with the tracking number.
Me:
I see. Why the 16th?
Agent:
All the X1 machine will ship out on this date. There was a constraint on the Ethernet dongle and the order will ship out on the 16th of September 2012.
Me:
Ok, I see. Thanks then.
Agent:
You are welcome.
I hereby dub Lenovo's customer support a clusterf**k. -
I was told the same thing and that SSD is not a problem. It should ship on 16th.
-
Here is what the official German Lenovo Online Shop sent me today, this being their own initiative, not me asking:
What they are saying is, that they do not know when the machine will arrive in larger numbers at their own warehouse. So it's not even clear to Lenovo internally. No prospective shipping date or anything. They will email me, once they know more. This, after I have been waiting already for two weeks and have been answered, when asking before, that the machine will be delivered next week.
What a screwed up launch....

I may be new to the forum, but have been followingn this since it started. I ordered on the 16th.
-
I ordered on August 17 - i5/8GB/256 (no dongle). Estimated ship date was August 26 initially, then August 30, and then finally September 4. I received shipping notification on September 5.
I received my unit today. I am in Canada. -
You stole my SSD!
I think this ethernet dongle has just victimized those of us who ordered on 8/14 with a 256GB SSD again. I can only assume that they shipped out your's while we waited for the dongle issue to be resolved.
Then finally when the ethernet dongle issue was resolved, they'd run out of 256GB SSDs.
But again, only theorizing.. truly this has just been an astonishing job by Lenovo. -
Its just funny to see our original problems, now another wave if issues. Im sure there is a lot of people viewing this. Hopefully everyone will get their machine shipped soon.
Maybe I should say funny....because Im not laughing, and I dont think others are either. Maybe I should say sad. -

I don't know for sure. What I've read is that the gumstick form factor SSD drives adopted by Apple, ASUS, and Lenovo are all proprietary to the models from each of the respective OEM's. In other words the gumstick drive in the Retina MacBook Pro cannot be exchanged with the ASUS or Lenovo X1 Carbon.
Proprietary sucks.
The guy to ask is Les @ The SSD Review « The Worlds Dedicated SSD Education and Review Resource. The SSD Review. -
no offense to the person who theorizes that the sales rep manager who talked about the shortage of SSDs, but...
i'm increasingly skeptical about what any of the salespeople, or their managers, tell us.
their record, thus far, has been spotty at best.
i'm very grateful for the information re: SSD shortage that was shared with us by a fellow forum member -- thanks -- but with each bit of information from Lenovo's staff, there appears to be more misinformation, or outright lies, just to get us off the phone!
Sigh.
