Called today and the post sales rep gave me a ship date of 09/27/2012. Cancelled. He gave me the spill about taking 3-5 business days. I insisted and after about 15 minutes of waiting, got him to send me a email of the cancellation. So, we will see. Would not be supprised if it still ship. But you have to insisted on the email.![]()

I got my X1 and I do love it overall. I'm fortunate to not have any of the hardware problems others have found (screen grating, QC issues).
However, I have the Ericsson 5321gw card and I'm not able to get Mobile Access with it. I've been working with Macheen support as apparently they are the ones that support Mobile Access. They were confused as well because I cannot be identified on the Mobile Access service regardless of what I try. This card apparently needs a SIM, but the GOBI does not. And with the conflicting information from Lenovo that just adds to the confusion. Very frustrating.
I'm very interested to see how Lenovo handles this problem in the long run as it sounds like many people here are receiving the Ericsson cards in spite of the spattering of marketing information about 4g. Would you return / exchange your laptop you waited for so long for because of this kind of mistake? I'm a bit torn. -
For most people 3G might be just fine, but for me that's like advertising it comes with a 128gb SSD when in fact it ships with a 120gb Hard Drive. Who would be happy about that?
On hold now for 2 hours... -
-
I need to know if 26th is another guess or real shipping date. -
-
Least you got the $80. I have been offered nothing. REP emailed me back, finally. Says the back log should be cleared by the 24th, and mine should ship sometime between the 19-24. My questions, "What guarantee?" "What is me waiting, yet again worth to you/Lenovo?"
I too am angry. My ship date still says 9-26 on my Order Status. So what am I suppose to believe or trust? Like you said, they've already missed 5 ship dates! -
Today I e-mailed a rep asking for an update, and received the response, "I have an update from supply team that X1 carbon laptops will be shipped out in late October." (Emphasis mine.)
Has anyone else heard something similar? I placed my order on August 15 (i5/8GB/128GB). The estimated shipping date was pushed back multiple times and currently shows shipping on Sep 26 with delivery on Oct 3. If my order is indeed delayed until late October, I will cancel. The problem is I no longer trust that rep, since two weeks ago she was told me that September 17 was a "very firm" shipping date.
Separately, I e-mailed the rep for a free upgrade to expedited shipping - the least they could do after so many delays. She refused. A terrible way to build customer loyalty. -
-
Those orders are requests that were not honored prior to shipping. This does happen on occasion, as the cancellation
request does not reach our manufacturer in time prior to shipment. I have sent the cancellation request for the order, and will
follow through to be sure that it goes through. You will receive an email confirmation of the cancelation when that is
honored. It may take 24-48 hours to automatically generate in the system. Let me know if you have questions.
At this point, I can't trust anything they tell me any more, including the above.
I suggest for everyone who cancel to keep staying on top of it until you get the email confirmation.
Note: my rep only responded to my cancellation request after three emails. In my experience ordering item online, this has got to be one of the worst experiences that I have. -
What are you planning to do? I'm thinking about buy X1C from one of the retailers. I can't find 8GB version
I need to decide in two-three days, and I will be calling them everyday. -
-
"Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the maker of the products for those who Do
As we understand, you want to check the status of the order. We regret to inform you that there is constrain on the Ethernet Dongle Adapter and the package can ship out anytime in the mid of October. It may ship sooner as well. Once the order ships you will receive a confirmation e-mail and within 3 to 5 business days the order will be delivered.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused
For further questions or concerns please reply to this email. We will be happy to further assist you
Thank you for choosing Lenovo." -
I think that's complete BS. People are receiving their X1C's without dongles, even with it on the build sheet, so how could a shortage possibly prevent the machines from shipping? They are not telling us something.
-
I asked on the chat, and I got response that it will be shipped on 24th. I have no idea what to think about it. I can buy i7 with 256GB today.
14th, i5/8GB/256GB -
This is to confirm to you that the request to cancel your Lenovo order ( #4242092456 ) has already been filed and is under process. It normally takes 3 to 5 business days for the order to be cancelled and you will receive an e-mail when it is cancelled.
Cancellation may not be a guaranteed process since the order is already under production that can be shipped any time, however we can set up a return for full refund, if the order is shipped.
 -
For anyone in the US that received theirs and it went through Louisville, how long did yours take to get through there? Mine has been sitting there since this past Friday, and since I need to be here to sign for the package I don't want to end up missing it just because tracking updates were slow.
-
Mine was only there for a few hours, zipped right on out of there.

Does anyone know any retailer which offers i5/8GB/256GB version? It is hard to tell whether 24th is the final date, it is easy to buy i7/4GB/256GB, I can't find any 8GB versions.
-
There are two for the X1C with i5/8GB/256GB:
3460-35U (3 year warranty with onsite)
3448-35U (3 year warranty without onsite)
Of note: it looks like they don't come with any WWAN card and the price for those retail SKUs is quite a bit higher than the deal most people who ordered early using the B&N link got. -
Scheduled Delivery: Wednesday, 09/19/2012, By End of Day
Last Location: Arrived - Louisville, KY, United States, Saturday, 09/15/2012
A bit annoyed... -
also: UPS can easily make it from KY to your state overnight, right? so it remains feasible.
mine's been stuck at 9/26th for a long time.
with all the talk of guys hearing theirs had changed to October, i'm feeling bummed out. waiting till 9/26th is already a very long wait.
btw, my extra 90-watt ac adapter brick came today. it is downright ridiculous. it weighs a ton! calling it a brick is apt. this silliness is unthinkable. all the thought that went into the x1c, and zero thought into the ac adapter? a required "accessory"? on top of all of this, they already have apple's ac adapters to use as examples! they don't even have to reinvent the wheel.
my vote is for all laptops' weights to be known as the TOTAL of the laptop PLUS the required AC adapter. that will make them work a wee bit on the adapter. sheesh. -
Has anyone received an X1 with the GOBI adapter? According to the project manager, only the Ericsson is offered on the X1. However, even the Lenovo site lists the GOBI under tech specs.
-
What site are you guys using to check your order?
I've been using this one: Search Index
And it states my order is in production and is to be delivered 09/09/12. We are 18/09/12... so something tells me I'm using the wrong address. -
-
What comes from Lenovo's website also means nothing: their so-called "expected anything dates" are hardly that: they are expected to be INcorrect. these are horribly incompetent folks. -
They can't simply "copy" Apple's design.. but for reference, a 45w MacBook Air charger with the wall adapter on it weighs 6.4oz -- yeah, half the weight.
Add in the wall cable, and the adapter is now 11.4oz/0.71lb/323g. So while true that you can reduce the weight of the MBA charger by just takin the wall adapter (and not the cable), you're otherwise screaming about 6oz.
Go buy a very short power cable to go between the wall and your power brick, and I bet you can reduce that further.
I'm also disappointed with Lenovo's overall handling of these issues, but I'm very well past the point of being angry. If it upset me that much at this point, I'd simply cancel and move on with another product.
I'm displeased with the delays, the fact that others with identical configurations who ordered well after me already have their laptops, that they still can't give me any firm dates, and that they now seem to be selling the laptop with a better WWAN adapter.
They've also just placed another hold my card (4th time!) that they're working on removing..
But after drooling over the T430u back in January, and then shifting to the X1C with its May announcement, I feel like I've been waiting for this for a long time. I've been treated by Lenovo very respectfully, and while many may have been lied to, my contact with them has been very honest, apologetic and polite.
So I'm waiting for now.. if October arrives with nothing firm, I might well reconsider. In the mean time, it's proving just an epic saga. -
Just cancelled my order! Dam it feels good. Funny thing is he said it was going to ship out tomorrow!! LOL Cancel PLEASE.
-
I've been carrying around a 90W power brick from my T61p for years, and it hasn't been an issue. If its heavier because of the quick charge feature, which could be the case, then that could be worth it. -
Also, according to Lenovo a cancel request takes 3-5 business days, so its still possible for the laptop to ship out before the cancel request is processed. -
I today around noon central time cancelled, getting the typical 'are you sure' and 'it may take 3 to 5 days' response, but still got the cancellation confirmation email tonight. If you call, press option 2, then 2 (change shipping address) which I think gets higher priority than the option 3 (cancel order) which resulted in a 30 minute wait which I abandoned earlier in the day. They emailed me 2 ups labels for the accessories I received thus far - which I will ship back without a restocking fee. I'm pretty happy with the cancellation process so far.
In other news, my T430s just went into production and the shipping date got move *up* from 9/27/12 to 9/23/12. Sweet!
Good luck to all holding out for the X1C. Hope it's great and you get it soon. -

Why don't you just get MacBook Pro Retina? The customer service is terrible, it is hard to expect anything good from Lenovo now.
In my city there is Apple Store, if I have any problems I can go there. Lenovo's customer service is in India, too far for me. -

Im not a regular on this site but thought I'd share my experience with the x1 carbon thus far.
Ordered: August 18th
specs: i5-3317 128ssd 4gbram
location: canada
I applied a RFD coupon when i ordered and came to about 970+tax. When the delay came i called in and got 5% concession. Afterwards my order was shown as cancelled on the lenovo website so I called again and was reassured that it was simply delayed. Furthermore I managed to get a 10% concession as opposed to the 5% before.
My laptop shipped on Aug 12th with 3day shipping. Received Monday Sept 17.
After reading all the negative posts on this forum I was worried about my laptop. But when I unboxed it the device was great. Superb packaging, almost apple-like. The device came as advertised. There is a screen-door effect on the screen but I don't care too much for it. Keypad was not loose, fortunately, unlike some other posts. There is one key that feels a little stuck but I don't think I'll be returning it. One odd thing is that I did not receive the ethernet dongle, so I will be inquiring about that.
Just wanted to share my experience. Despite the long delay (I am a student and desperately needed a laptop for school) I am loving my X1 -
UK here. Ordered August 30th, i5/8GB/256 (ethernet dongle was already unavailable) . Just received shipping notification.
-
German here. Ordered Sept. 11th i5 8GB 256 just received shipping notification. Without dongle
-
We apologize, but we are unable to ship one or more items on your order at this time. We anticipate shipment within 30 days of this notification. Our online order status tool displays the latest information on your order therefore a revised estimated ship date is not included in this notification.
Just received this email from Lenovo this morning after canceling last night.
They also put another pending charge on my card. Looks like they took my order out of the system and reordered it for a third time. LOL nice going lenovo. i7/4gb/256gb. -
At least it looks like the 256gb ssd units are finally moving along.
One other poster asked a few pages back re: this identical config but sadly, I have nothing to add since my September 6th order has been in "In Production" status for a very long time. With the Germany system shipped, I'm feeling a little more hopeful. -
-
Got this email today too.
However, my order status hasn't changed. Should I be worried?
-
US here, 9/6th order, 9/26th Estimated Ship
Equally bummed out. Then again, there are so many others who ordered on 8/14th with their orders delayed extensively, so we're no different. -
I received the same email as well and called in! I was assured that shipping would not go passed the 24th. (I've heard this how many times before?) Worried, not anymore. No emotion, just trying to figure out my own tipping point before cancellation!
