nosaner: congrats on yours coming pronto!
To All: may i ask who else has an i5/8gb/256gb who ordered around 9/6th? nyc/usa here.
i haven't really heard from too many others who ordered around the time i did...maybe there was a bit of a lull in terms of number of orders placed around early September, after the initial enthusiastic wave during August?
my ESD is 9/26th but i'm getting increasingly concerned. sigh.

Probably they didn't expect people to order the most expensive configuration, however still the should have known that the base configuration is so poor that many ThinkPad users would order more expensive model. IdeaPad and ThinkPad are totally different customer groups. -
-
The problem I had was that I always split my drives into system/programs and data, and since there were 4 partitions already on the disk I needed to convert the existing C drive into a logical drive (using partition wizard) shrink it and create another logical drive for documents and data. Alternatively, I could have deleted the recovery partition but until I've used this machine for a while I don't want to do that.
Once I've installed all the development tools and stuff I need for work, I'll need to encrypt the drive, probably using truecrypt (company standard) but that's a decision for another day.
BTW I'm very impressed with the X1C. Well put together, no problems with the clickpad or the bezel, no noticeable screen door effect even with my glasses on - maybe I need to go back to the opticians ;-) and a very good keyboard. Compared to my old T60, the screen isn't quite as good in terms of viewing angles, but it's good enough. -
Has anybody in the UK had shipping problems? I ordered on 18th September not knowing these problems existed. In the UK store we don't get estimated shipping dates although it does generically say "ships within 1 or 2 weeks" when you initially order. I just ordered the base model (i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD) without USB ethernet. They've shipped an accessory (the case) which it's going to be very useful to have with no laptop to put in it!
I've had terrible experiences with Digital River (UK store provider) and Lenovo before so I hope this is better..
When I ordered it there was actually a £100 discount code which implied to me that they had loads they were trying to get rid off, that discount code only lasted for about 3 days, very odd if they have such problems. -
Hopefully, yours will arrive soon and you'll be very happy with it. -
Cheers. -
Order will be canceled, and I'll be instructing the Credit Card company to not accept the charge just in case.. -
Finally the order left Osaka, Japan. -
Lenovo's order status page is down. They really are having trouble with every aspect of their business! Yikes.
-
How long has it been taking for the laptop to arrive once it has left China? Mine just left China this morning and UPS says delivery date 9/27 (Thurs) Is this possible? I'm in Wisconsin.
-
Mine's heading to San Francisco with the same delivery date. I was wondering the same thing.. don't know where it's flying into, but it'll arrive presumably in the US this evening. If it can clear customs and be on another plane by tomorrow afternoon, I suspect it will in fact be at our door steps on Thursday.
If it slips a day, oh well. Friday... but I don't want to wait until Monday
They also finally charged my card (posted and all) this morning, but backdated the charge to 9/23. Whatever, the light at the end of this six week tunnel of delays and poor excuses is nigh. -
at least y'all have some movement in your order!
mine continues to say exactly what it has always said: "in production"
the ESD remains at 9/26th
that would be tomorrow! alas. -
-
plus, you might use your big fancy hollywood name with the Lenovo order folks...maybe they'll say: oh wow, a movie star! ...and give you priority. have you tried that?
PS: my usb 3.0 "dock", more aptly called a hub, is in an even worse situation. it doesn't even say "in production". it merely says "order received" with an ESD of 10/7th. what is wrong with this company? -
I connected my X301 to other 2 monitors and other devices through this USB3.0 hub. It solved all connection problems. A small unit, but working flawlessly after driver installation (even with USB2.0 -X301). A great product deserves your patience. -
Did your plane depart at 9:45 on 9/25?
I'd be okay with Friday, Monday - not so much.. haha
-
i do have an important concern:
with 1 or 2 monitors' video signal(s), plus various other peripherals, all connected to this "dock", and EVERYTHING in turn going through one single USB 3.0 cable and port into the X1C, wouldn't there be a traffic jam, i.e. insufficient bandwidth to handle everything?
it seems like it anecdotally, right?
thx in advance, steve8191, for your experienced comments. -
So someone actually received the USB 3.0 port replicator already? I was told NONE of them would be available until Ocotber. So I wasn't expecting my order for that to ship for a while.
My 9/13 order of i5/8gb/256gb (on "critical build list" due to original order beingn 8/16) has had the ship date move earlier twice. It was originally 9/30, then 9/28 and now today 9/27. -
-
it seems like the ones that are held up the longest are the i5/8gb/256gb configs. anyone else care to chime in on this?
Oh, btw, i just checked with my credit card company: there was some "movement" over this past weekend -- Lenovo did a hold on my card for the laptop's price (they charged me already for the peripherals which were on the same order and mostly shipped out and received already, except for the USB 3.0 dock). the "hold" on the cr card was done on 9/22nd, Saturday. weird, right?
on the other hand, as little as that has seemed to mean with all the others' experience, the 9/22nd timing is awfully close to my ESD of 9/26th (tomorrow), so i'm hoping that it does indeed mean something. -
-
-
the only thing i have to go on was that over the weekend, there was a hold on my credit card for the price of the laptop (there were previous debits to my credit card for the peripherals which have already been shipped).
how do you like it so far? any issues? anything exceeding your expectations? -
I love it! It's an amazingly well built machine, and just small details on how the keyboard is laid out, feels like they were thoughtful when putting it together. Trackpad is great, keyboard is phenomenal, the screen is bright and colors are vibrant. I do have some screen door effect but it's not that distracting to me. Very happy w/ the purchase.

Current status:
Anchorage, AK, United States
09/25/2012 3:42 P.M. Departure Scan
09/25/2012 2:36 P.M. Arrival Scan
Expected there to be a customs thing. I'm still optimistic it'll be here Thursday -
anyone else with an ESD of 9/26th, tomorrow?
i've been checking the Order Detail page of Lenovo to no avail.
only the credit card authorization (not a debit) over this past weekend might mean something. -
-
I think mine is also in the same shipment. The times and the places match! And Kuehnmj, I am in Wisconsin too! I hope it arrives on Thursday. And according to UPS, it's looking good. 1 BUSINESS DAY LEFT!!! -
14 August, i5/8GB/256GB, shipped 20 September. -
ESD 9/26 here but still no joy -- "shipped out" email-less.
Lenovo reminder: today is 9/26th!
Anyone else with similar dates? -
No pending charges on credit card (dropped off about a week ago).
i5/8GB/256GB

I just got notified that mine is out for delivery today! It has been a long road.I hope is was worth the wait!
i5/4GB/256GB ordered on 8/14 cancelled on 8/29 reordered on 8/30. -
i5/8GB/256GB
Ordered on 8/16
ESD is today 9/26
It better ship today.... though no pending charges in my credit card make me lose hope that it will happen... If it doesn't (and Lenovo misses a shipping date for a sixth time) I am not sure what I will do... but we'll see. -

I received my X1 Carbon today (ordered 14 August). It doesn't appear to have the Ethernet dongle even though it was on the parts list. Will be contacting customer service.
-
surprises of surprises: i emailed my rep and said politely that 9/26th is here with no shipped notice, should i request to cancel, what are the proper and best procedures? his reply was that it actually shipped and that i'll receive tracking info later.
shortly thereafter, i refreshed my Order Status page, and indeed, the Status is now Shipped, via UPS, but no tracking number yet.
@Nightwiggl: please note this as you're going through your possible cancellation today. you might also soon receive a "shipped today" notice.
btw, i do not have an email as of yet from Lenovo re: this shipment notice -- only on Lenovo's Order Status page, which in the past, have proven to be not too accurate. -
-
Returned my 8gb for replacement. But, it was actually processed as a refund. So I had to place another order today for an 8gb/128gb and I'll be getting a credit back for the difference. Considering I started this process on 8/15 and I won't have it for close to 2 months from that date kind of sucks.
The good news is, the machine is great and I managed to get an extra year on the ADP warranty for my hassle. -
may i ask the good folks who have already received their x1c's how long it takes to get their tracking numbers after it indicates "shipped" status? it says shipped but under tracking number, it is blank.
one person posted once before that we can enter our order number under tracking reference number on the UPS tracking page and that works too, but i just tried it and it didn't work for me.
thx in advance.
Ethernet dongle:
i was just informed by my phone rep that NO ethernet dongle will be shipped out!! we have to buy our own. he also linked me to a horrible one on newegg with horrific reviews. anyone knows of a better ethernet dongle? or at least one that works as advertised? the one the phone rep linked me to doesn't have 64 bit drivers!!
the newegg page for the dongle he linked me to is crapola. No 64 bit drivers!
the problem is: try searching on newegg for another such dongle! there are NONE! sheesh. this is ridiculous. they ship a laptop, very late, then ship it sans a part they said it would include, then, without giving us any credit for the missing part, simply tells us: go buy one on your own! ...and, btw, you might have to search high and low for it!
furthermore, btw: try to configure and pretend to buy another x1c now, please. you'll see that somewhere under the accessories tab, you'll have the OPPORTUNITY to PAY FOR AND BUY a $20 ethernet dongle! how swell is that? -
-
I bet your rep just doesn't know what's going on. If you ordered with the dongle, you will receive it at a later date. That was confirmed with the project manager through my rep. The opportunity to buy or not buy the dongle has been there for a while. They did that so people could order it without and not have to wait.
-
And if you really need to buy one now, I think the one on monoprice looks good.
-
letterk: any possibility of a link to the monoprice item page please? speaking of monoprice, i'd need to buy a mini displayport to HDMI cable for my external monitor. that's what one would need, right? the x1c only has a mini displayport output, and most monitors have HDMI inputs. -

UPS says in bright red:
