^ I know this is the X1C shipping thread, but I ordered an X230 on Sept 5th. Shipping date got pushed back and pushed back (although not as bad as the X1C guys). Now my order is supposed to ship out on the 21st (today). When did you get the shipping notification? Today also? I just checked my order status and it still says In Production![]()
-
I have the tracking number on Order Detail page, it says Actual Ship Date 09/20, on UPS site it states 09/21. Looks good.
-
fyi: my 90-watt AC adapter (extra that i ordered) came last week and, like your x1c, had a slightly different ship date via Lenovo versus via UPS. mine came through Hong Kong though, not Shanghai.
sigh...i wish i can share the same type of joy because my x1c is also on its way, but...no such luck yet. mine is still saying est ship date of 9/26th, est arrival 10/3rd. i really hope the dates don't slip much more. furthermore, i hope that my unit is troublefree. who'd want a unit, early or late, that is a constant set of issues, right?
I'm on pins and needles too because i have yet to see ANYONE who has a 9/26th Est Ship Date (like mine) and had it ship sooner. Some have posted with 9/23rd ship dates and what not, but no 9/26th ship dates that have gone out already. Oh well. -

I, quite unexpectedly, got a shipping notification for my i5/8/256 order this morning.
Order history:
I ordered on 8/16 w/ B&N gold + newsletter discount.
On 8/20 the estimated ship date was pushed out from 8/24 to 8/26.
Over the following week, the 8/26 date was confirmed multiple times by phone and online CSRs.
On 8/27, a phone CSR promised me that it would ship that same day.
On 8/30, a phone CSR told me that all X1Cs had been delayed and promised no later than 9/16 and offered a $100 concession.
On 9/12, I got the dreaded "between now and 9/24" email.
On 9/19, I got another delay email, this one anticipating "shipment within 30 days of this notification."
On 9/21, I awoke to an email claiming it shipped on 9/20!
Unfortunately, I don't have an actual tracking number yet, but the order detail page *does* show that it shipped via UPS.
Edit: I got a tracking number and delivery date by plugging my order number into UPS's "Track by Reference" page. Scheduled delivery for 9/27. Currently sitting at the origin in Shanghai. -
UPS ASD: 09/21
Order Detail ASD: 09/20
DualMonitors: I hope I will get it by next Friday -
@All: i suppose that this current wave (i.e. wave of emails as of yesterday/today) of shipped notifications from Lenovo are all from the "early birds" orders, i.e. August 14th to 20th range. These notifications all indicate that they have been shipped out around 9/21st roughly.
Using my own case as an upcoming example, mine still continues to say ESD 9/26th, EDD 10/3rd. This means that whatever was "stuck" at Lenovo's manufacturing plants have become "unstuck", and if my date is true, then over the course of the next week, they are able to produce ALL the units ordered from August 20th through Sept 6th!
That's a whopping 16 days' worth of orders produced and ready to be shipped over the next 6 days!
Of course, I hope that is still realistic but I don't know...it sounds rather optimistic. -
I also see it as somewhat realistic that 16 days' worth of orders could ship in 6 days, since we're primarily just talking about 256gb configurations. I'm not sure anyone else who ordered in August with a 128gb configuration hasn't already received theirs.
I'm just hoping I get my finally shipped by my current 9/23 ESD.. Monday will otherwise feature another discussion with Lenovo about filling orders chronologically. -
I'm an 8/16'er as well, but they had to put in a "new" order for me, which went in 9/13. The estimated ship date got moved up from 9/30 to 9/28 today, and now there is an estimated delivery date for the first time on the new order. It was claimed I would be put on a critical build list to expedite it since I actually ordered on 8/16. Not sure. i5/8gb/256gb

I got my shipping notice and tracking # this morning. I ordered on the 30th. 1200.00 shipped.B&N + newsletter plus 190.00 in concessions. I'm glad to see a status change! Very refreshing! i5/4gb/256gb

I've found concessions are highly dependent on who you talk to. So no secret, just luck. I've talked to maybe 15 people at Lenovo over this and have received different concessions just about every time. Mind you, I didn't call soley to get a concession. My order was significantly abnormal. Funny thing, some of the concessions were never documented on Lenovo's side, and conveniently dissapeared.
-
Whenever I talked with someone I always asked for a email documenting what they were giving me! The discounts and price is what kept me hanging on. I hope the product does not disappoint!

Rec'd shipping notice earlier today. Ordered 8/16. i5/8/256.
@Dual Monitors: My ESD was unavailable for a while, then was 9/26 for a few days, then yesterday moved to 9/23, and today rec'd this notice. So there is hope for you I think.
@nosaner: Glad yours finally shipped, as I know you were one of the first to place an order for the i5/8/256 config. -
the only difference is that most of you placed your orders significantly before me (9/6th here). so if we added 3 weeks to YOUR 8/16th order date, then i won't get mine for yet another 3 more weeks!! Yikes. -
When I configured T430 and T430s so that they meet my expectations the price was around $1.5k, so X1C is not that much more expensive. -
Got my shipping notice this morning. i5/4/128. Ordered 8/22. Did not know they shipped on a Saturday? Lenovo's ASD = 9/21, UPS = 9/22.
EDIT: Also of note, an app pulling info from UPS for tracking lists "Services: Expedited." I did not order Expedited shipping, nor did I ask for it with any CSRs. -
what i mean is that Lenovo might have contracted with UPS a certain level of default service for these types of shipments, which may be a step above the usual and standard "China to USA" shipments, but not quite the "expedited" level that we think of and call here in the US, which typically means UPS 2nd Day Air (domestic packages) type of deal. -
Well, the seemingly impossible occurred this morning. I have a UPS tracking number (which currently just says a label has been printed), and an ETA of 9/27.
So it looks like this whole ordeal is finally ending. Additionally, there is currently no charge or hold on my card at any time. I suppose this gives me a brief opportunity to cancel the card and disclaim all knowledge
Hopefully the shipment goes quickly now, and Lenovo follows through on their promises to give me a decent discount. -
I just got checked my order status and it lists that it has been shipped. with the actual ship date of 9/21/2012. The thing is that I have not been given a tracking number OR an email confirming that it is shipped.
So at the moment, I am skeptical about the whole ACTUAL SHIPPING DATE. Is anyone where I am right now? :S -
Click "Track by Reference"
Plug in your Lenovo order number as the "Shipment Reference"
Click "Track"
That should show you your package's status with UPS and give you a normal tracking number you can use later. -
-
Finally got my x1c shipped. Here is my story:
Order Date: 8/14, around 12:00pm PDT
Estimated Shipping: 8/22 -> 8/26 -> 8/30 -> 9/6 -> 9/19 -> 9/26 -> (9/23) -> 9/21
Actual Shipping: 9/20
btw, does anyone know how to get the concession? I am in travel now and will probably do it after I come back. -
On the other hand, i'm sad for myself -- i ordered 9/6th
and i've heard nothing yet from Lenovo, not a single beep.
seems like all the "action" recently has been with orders placed around 8/14th through 8/18th or so. little to no movement on orders place around 9/6th, right?
i've been at Est Ship Date of 9/26th for many many days now, and i'm having trouble believing that Lenovo can build and ship their backlog group of orders which were placed from around 8/16th to 9/6th (that's a span of a whopping 3 weeks) in the next 6 days!!
well, if they cannot build so many over the next 6 days, guess what? they will delay me yet again!
sheesh.
again, so happy for you guys. something appears to have been unclogged finally and things are moving along, finally! -
Yes. They have finally started shipping orders from the 14th of August. I hope they used that time to solve all components problems, they should have quite a good understanding which configurations are most popular and how many components they need.
Anyway everything was so annoying, they should improve their customer service.
I hope they don't lower price so that this laptop will be unpopularIt is so stupid that you can get T series for a few hundread dollars, but for that price you get worthless laptop, after you add all components you need the price goes up to around $1.3-1.4k, which is just stupid. If the T series started at better price (around $1k) we could expect better quality and components.
Still, it is quite annoying that only a few parts are really carbon-fiber, the whole laptop should be.
MacBook is so successful because the price starts high, but the basic configuration is quite good. Every ThinkPad starts at such a low price so even kindergarten children can buy one, but the build quality is cheap. -
-
I just don't know how exactly this works. -
-
So I will contact them after my vacation. -
Credit Card has been charged, yet again (pending)! Do I dare get my hopes up this time? (no updates on Order status, still "In Production"
Ordered: 8-16
ESD: 9-26
EDD: 10-3
Config: i5\8GB\256 SSD (3 yr accidental) -
Nervous now...my 9/26th Est Ship Date has been on my Order Status forever now, and it is a mere 2 days away. I'm nervous about whether or not Lenovo will make good on this date!
Furthermore, even if they do ship it according to their stated dates, I still have the next concern which is build quality and a problem-free machine! With all the talk of an improperly fitted bezel around the LCD screen, this and that, I'm really getting concerned about these X1 Carbons! Maybe Lenovo also had a secret, not publicized Foxconn-esque revolt amongst its workers?!? -
I am also nervous about esd of 9/25. A pending charge was placed last week but that has been going on since 8/16. I was hoping for a shipment notice this morning but no luck. Hopefully ours will ship tomorrow.
I5/8g/256g -
Spoke with rep. Probably won't ship tomorrow. But will sometime this week. ???? Gave me the Ethernet dongle story again.
-
And I got it - boy what a lovely machine!
Rock solid (incl. touch pad), slim, beautiful. Love the keyboard. Minor "gap" bottom left screen where all the cables are, but nothing I couldn't live with. Screen door effect noticeable when I focus on it consciously, otherwise not really there (I think over time you won't notice it at all). Got 177GB free on the C drive. Have to see how it handles long term, but so far - well done Lenovo.
-
usa here, with that config, ordered 9/6th. -
That's correct
.

Well, after shipping early Saturday morning (3am PDT), UPS finally saw movement at 4:36am PDT. Currently on a plane over the pacific with an ETA of Thursday, 9/27.
Hilariously, Lenovo sent me a survey form today asking me how my order went. I think I'll wait until it's in my hands to fill it out... I don't think they're going to get particularly high marks, however. -
johnSmith1 did you get the ethernet dongle with your order?
-
wonder what they would say about that? -
-
-
I really really like it
. It does have a minor "gap" (and I mean minor) between bezel and screen above the Lenovo logo as others have reported, but I don't think that is something major and not at all noticeable under normal use (and I got 3 years warranty, so I figure I'll be fine either way). Touch pad nice and firm, but I am a trackpoint user anyway. Keyboard is lovely, and the more I use the screen the better I think it is. I couldn't get Lenovo mobile access to work in the UK (although there should be coverage), but T-Mobile got PAYG mobile broadband that comes in cheaper so I'll try that. No audible fan so far, temperature fine.
My advice to you: don't worry, just wait & see what turns up. Most people seem perfectly happy with their X1C.
/edit: one more thing: people have already said it, and I'll say it as well: the power adapter really is a brick - I'll order the ultraslim one tomorrow. It's especially big when you are used to a 65W... ;-)
-
Just got mine last weekend. I like it more than my X230T except for the display. My X1C is perfect with no imperfection in term of built quality. I didn't get the LAN adapter. I also got an ultraslim acdc power brick from ebay for $65.
I reinstalled fresh win7 and gained over 30-40 gb of hd (I have the base model). Now my boot time is about 20 seconds flat.
so far so good.
note. the bottom part of the notebook seems to heat up quickly if you push the cpu a little -
-
monday thru friday only
-
-
but then: what do they see that gives them so much more information? i have yet to hear anyone informing us what the reps see that allows them more knowledge about the manufacturing timeline!
so far, they have all seemed to be just as much in the dark as we have been! -
My X1C still in Osaka, Japan. No change in status since morning.
14th August, i5/8GB/256GB, shipped on 09/20
