Same thing happened to my 8/22 order. Do you think there's any chance the 10/24 ship dates ship out with windows 8? I'm guessing not, as I wouldn't be surprised if Lenovo continues to offer windows 8 and windows 7 configured machines side by side. I only ask because I noticed newegg is advertising windows 8 machines available on 10/26 so we must be getting close to the oem windows 8 release date.

-
No, I can't see how they would ship with Windows 8. Our order configuration specifies Windows 7. We are able to purchase the Windows 8 Pro upgrade for around $14.99 since we have purchased a Windows 7 machine. I just hope that we don't run into delays during the factory's change over.
I was recently assured by a sales supervisor that although our "Order Status" dates show 10/24 that our laptops will ship the week of 10/14. -
-
So if I order today.... the website specifies a ship date of 10/18. I'd imagine that is unrealistic and it won't ship out until November probably?

So I received my X1 Carbon a little while ago, and I thought this nightmare was over...until I tried to get my $100 concession from their web chat. Apparently they have no record of a concession being made! -Thankfully- I took a screenshot of the concession chat, and I forwarded it to the person who made the concession.
I guess this teaches me the lesson of getting everything in writing of any promise. But the biggest lesson of them all is to not trust Lenovo.
PS has anyone heard of about ethernet dongle and when it's going to ship? -

I got my ethernet dongle with my laptop, I must have been part of the first (only?) batch that shipped.

I ordered from a Distributor on 10/10/12 and it shipped the same day, I checked today and there are some in stock at the distributor still. I guess I would assume they are caught up on orders?
-
Ahhh. I'm envious of those who have got their X1Cs already. I ordered on August 21st and it's still "In process". Thats right. "In Process". Not even "In Production". Arg. The shipping date has changed 6 times already (just missed the last one) and halfway through claimed that my order was cancelled. I've spent over eight hours trying to get to the reps and sort this out. I love Lenovo's products, but this is really wearing on my loyalty to them.

Here we go again, replacement order for my Aug. 15, placed on Sep. 26th:
-
My shipping date moved up from 10/24 to 10/18, so hopefully that's a good sign. This is for my 8/22 order for an i5/8GB/256GB config.

On another note, I purchased a xps8500 desktop off dell last week. And it's already shipped. Shipped BEFORE the laptop I ordered almost two months ago. Oh the irony. -

So I think I am going to return my X1C for another one because of the clickpad issue. Has anyone done this yet? What was the wait like? Is this going to be like a week or two process or months like ordering a new one? It is a base model (i5/4gb/128gb).

This morning I unexpectedly got a big box from UPS. It was from Lenovo in Whitsette, NC (I am also from NC so I may get this before a lot of ppl)). I opened to box to find a Lenovo-branded ethernet dongle, a Lenovo-branded wireless mouse, and a Lenovo-branded laptop bag.
This box came from Lenovo's factory in Whitsett, NC. Lenovo did announce a few weeks ago that they will start manufacturing computers at this location. So perhaps in the future (North) Americans won't have to wait to long to get computer shipments from China. -
-
Which bag is it? I would like to see it.
Mine did not come with a Ethernet dongle either, but someone said elsewhere that they were out of stock everywhere also. -
i5/8GB/256GB ordered on 8/16.
Label Created On:
10/17/2012
Scheduled Delivery:
Tuesday, 10/23/2012
Weight: 2.70 kgs
Hopefully, others that are in this order date range are starting to see shipment.
How I hope that I miss the possibility of the next problematic stage: Build issues/DOA, etc.
I will report back after receiving the computer. -
-
I don't see a scheduled delivery date yet, but received shipment notification, and UPS shows label created on 10/17/12 as well, but with weight of 2.60 kgs. This is for my 8/22 order of an i5/8GB/256GB config. I wonder if the lower weight reflects the fact that the ethernet adapter apparently is not included in my order.

Check out the new price drop! I believe the price is about $180.00 lower now.

Woot! mine (same config) shipped the same time as yours. =) -

So on Monday October 8th I called to cancel my order of August 22nd. I was given the usually "It will take 3-5 business days to process your cancellation". Knowing what a disaster their entire order back-end is, I called them again on Monday October 15th to re-confirm my cancellation. I was told that despite it being 5 business days since my initial request, my order had yet to be cancelled, but there was a note in my file saying as much. Sure enough, Tuesday October 16th rolls around and I receive a glorious notification that my order has now shipped. Awesome... not.
So when the man in his brown truck rolls around next week should I decline delivery? If not, what's the fastest way to get a full refund.
Thanks. -
Status as of October 1- Total confusion and misinformation at Lenovo.
I had ordered an X1 Carbon on August 17 (i5/8/256). When the shipping date kept slipping, I phoned Lenovo on September 6. I requested a discount because of all the slipping shipping dates. The rep said he had no authority to give me a further discount. I told him Lenovo was giving discounts to others in the same situation. He said, "no discount", did I want to cancel. I said "yes", but I had already received an external hard drive that I now needed to return. He transferred me to a person in post-sales, who then offered me a $90 discount if I kept the sale going. I said OK, and they promised a ship date of around September 14.
That evening I received an e-mail from Lenovo saying my order had been CANCELLED. This was the last e-mail I received from Lenovo. The following morning I phoned Lenovo, and the rep said that my sale was fine; it had not been cancelled. I told them about the e-mail and she said ignore it. I called back on September 11 and September 18 and each time the customer rep said that my sale had NOT been cancelled, and would be shipped soon.
As estimated ship dates kept slipping, I phoned Lenovo again yesterday (October 10). The sales rep said my order had been cancelled. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said that she would tell me the same thing. He did put the supervisor on the phone. She said, "No, your order has NOT been cancelled, that was incorrect." She said she would check on the estimated shipping date. After putting me on hold several times, she finally returned and sheepishly said my order had been cancelled. and I had to place a new order.I asked her on what date the order had been cancelled. She said that her system only showed that the order had been cancelled, but no date at all!
She offered to transfer me to sales to place the new order at the same price I had agreed to on August 17. That price included the promotion in effect that week & the 10% newsletter discount. I asked about the additional $90 discount, and she agreed to that as well. When I placed the order, the sales rep estimated a ship date of October 16. I think that was sooner than they were going to send me August 17 order. We will see.
What total confusion at Lenovo. There really is no excuse for all this misinformation. -
October 18 update - Total confusion continues at Lenovo sales. Could it be getting even worse?
As explained above, after my August 17 order (i5/8/256) was cancelled by Lenovo (notwithstanding multiple assurances by Lenovo after-sale support that the order had NOT been cancelled), I had to place a new order on October 10 with an estimated ship date of October 16.
Of course, October 16 came and went. Today (the 18th) I get the generic Lenovo e-mail that my order 'has been delayed", and I should check the Order Status webpage. The Order Status webpage shows that the order IS forecast to ship on the 16th, two days ago.
So I phoned Lenovo and pressed #1 to participate in their customer satisfaction survey. After being transferred to the after-sales support, the polite rep informed me she had no idea when my order would ship, but she would e-mail the shipping department and they should get back to her in 24 hours, and she would then forward that e-mail on to me. This is beyond ridiculous.
I stayed on the line to participate in the customer satisfaction survey, but of course that never came on. -

How do you put up with that?

Re: October 10 order (i5/8/256) order that was scheduled to ship on October 16.... I just got the following e-mail from a Lenovo rep:
"I would like to informed you that as per the update I got from our Supply Team the Estimated Shipping Date for your order is on 10/30.
We apologies for the inconvenience caused."
How/why do I put up with the madness? Well, I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, so "put up" may not be the best description. Other than that, I don't need it urgently since my X220 is still serving my needs quite well. -
Just curious, are all these delays coming while the status is listed as in production, or another status.
