Status: FS Cancel - Invalid Config
Has anyone had this one yet? My order was supposed to ship yesterday so I checked this morning and it seems to have been cancelled! I ordered from the website so not sure what the problem is. I'm on hold with Lenovo and was going to wait for a response before posting but after 42 minutes on hold i'm bored.

If you go to the website, you can see that the i7s have been pushed back to shipping out in "more than 4 weeks." It's possible they're canceling i7 orders due to a part shortage. Let us know what Lenovo tells you.
-
I bet this was just a mistake, I dont think they would do that.
I have seen manufacturing companies (not the size of lenovo) cancel orders because MRP/MPS (planning) was so messed up that they couldnt figure out what was what and what needed to be ordered and made. But they always re-created those orders once the reservation entries were cleared out and could make sense of demand. -
He told me that some i7 configurations ordered on the website were cancelled due to system errors. I did nothing wrong, it was a system error. I should have received an automatic notification from the system. (I did not, checked junk mail too, and i know i get emails from the system as i got two order confirmations.) There was nothing he could help me with as the order was cancelled and could not be un-cancelled. (Is that a word?) Since he was post-sales he could not enter an order. I would have to call sales to place a new order. He delivered all that with over a dozen "i'm sorry", "i apologize", and "i wish i could do more."
In any case, i think i'm going to wait and see specs and reviews for the new Dell XPS 12 DUO announced today. I get heavy corporate discounts from Dell but they didn't have a compelling laptop so I went with Lenovo. I can always come back to the X1 Carbon if the XPS 12 DUO sucks. I'm a believer in things happen for a reason and maybe it's karma that my order was cancelled on the day of the Dell announcements. -

Looks like there is a record of someone in Singapore who has received their X1 Carbon on the Lenovo forums:
X1 Carbon unboxing video! - Lenovo Community
post number 4 in this thread. -
This is a good sign, along with the Chinese users reporting their delivery of it in the last few days.
My order still says expected ship date was yesterday, but no confirmation or credit card charge makes me think otherwise. Hopefully by today/tomorrow! -
Mine just went from Released to manufacturing to in Production to Order Received. What's is going on here!
Order date 8-14
Estimated ship date 8-29-12
Estimated delivery date 9-6-12
Core i7 CPU/4 GB RAM/ 256 GB SSD
Edit - Just looked at my credit card online and they charged my card. -
Looks like all the orders are going out first to the far east. For those that have shipping dates for today.....any luck?
If not, I wouldn't bet on anything happening since its night time over there.
On a side note, have anyone of you noticed that they have a sleeve for the X1C. However, Im having a real hard time seeing it listed here in the US (ThinkPad 14W Ultrabook Topload and Sleeve Sets) They are listed in Australia but not here. In the tabook though they mention that its been available since Aug 07, and worldwide. Also, I never knew that lenovo also had luxury cases for their thinkpad models. In that tabook they list a url (lenovoluxurycases.com) but I cant get to that link. Wonder if something will show up soon. -
Well, my latest ship date is today, 8/30. I'm feeling skeptical they're going to make it :/
In other hilarious news, I just got a call from my credit company telling me that my account info was compromised at a merchant they can't name and it was being cancelled.
At this point, with everything going so perfectly, it'll be a disappointment if the laptop doesn't arrive broken or something. -
I have some news. The manager I spoke with the other day got back to me via email and said my order will not ship before sept 16 and the actual ship date is sept 16th. I asked for expedited shipping, so we will see what happens with that. Going to go to j&r tomorrow and check out other systems. If I find something I like in going to cancel.
I ordered on the 14th and my config can be found on the first page of this thread. -
Just talk to another lying lenovo rep. He claimed my order has shipped and that I will receive an tracking # again within the next twenty four hours. I asked him to get me the tracking #. He could not. Might just cancel tomorrow because I checked my credit card and the hold is the 'temporary authorization' is off.

I've been following this thread for a couple days and figured I should post up my experience.
I ordered on 8/20 the base i5/128gb/4gb configuration and my order page always had a ship date of 8/28. Today I decided to chat to a rep to get a better idea of my order's status, only to be informed that my order was cancelled. He didn't have a date for the cancellation but said it was a configuration error. I called in and they confirmed that my order was cancelled with no timestamp and reassured me that I could rebook the order with sales. I talked to sales and he rebooked me at my original price and gave me a ship date of 9/5.
We'll see what Sept 5 holds. -
1. Date Ordered: 08/16/2012
2. Configuration: i5 / 8 GB RAM / 256 GB SSD
3. Shipped-To Location: Calgary, Alberta
4. Estimated Ship Date (Original/Updated): Original: 08/26/2012 Updated: Same
5. Actual Ship Date: N/A
6. Estimated Arrival Date: N/A
7. Actual Arrival Date: N/A
Just got an email from Lenovo saying that my order got cancelled. I'm going to phone them now though to inquire. -

So, just moments ago, they updated my order. Even though I got that cancellation notice, I've now got a estimated ship date of 2012/09/18, and an estimated delivery date of 2012/09/25. I'm still going to give them a call though, because I'm not actually sure what was up with that cancellation notice and the subsequent contradictory update.
-
Damn, this looks like the third time they have pushed the dates back (is this strike three!) .I don't about you guys but this doesn't look good for Lenovo. Very irritating!

Another order status update today...
Order status: In Production (no change)
Estimated Ship Date: 2012/09/03
Estimated Delivery Date: 2012/09/10
...Hopefully this won't become a pattern of inefficiency.

To be honest, I know there are many alternatives out there but for me, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Thinkpads have, and will always be my choice. It is one of the few PC manufacturers that make/ build a PC that no matter how many others you've tried, the sleek black look and build quality just never gets old.
Currently, for me, Im thinking of 2 options:
1. Wait till the end of this week and see if I get a tracking number
2. If 1 doesn't happen, I will cancel my order and wait till October (when the i7 8gb model is available). I have a feeling that they are waiting for October to release this configuration as October will officially be their 20th anniversary. Heck, they might even put out a reserved edition model, like they have done for their 15th year anniversary. Granted if you have the money to afford it! -
Thors.Hammer Notebook Enthusiast
I've been an early adopter for some Lenovo model in nearly every ThinkPad generation since the T60p. Unfortunately this sort of stuff happens in nearly every generation. I decided after the problems I had with the W520, I would stop being an early adopter.
The gravitational pull for the X1 Carbon was too great so I went against my own policy. Never again. It's far easier to just wait three months for Lenovo to oil the supply line and logistic issues out.
It takes a lot of patience to be first in line. -

5. n/a
6. n/a -> 8/30 -> 9/06 -> 9/09
7. n/a
Credit card hasn't been charged yet but status the changed from "In Production" to "Order Received". Not sure if that's a step in the right direction or backwards... -

cbagz posted his order status changed from "In Production" to "Order Received" and said his credit card was charged in post #209. Did you get charged as well nosaner? I want to believe that it's a good sign at this point, but it doesn't really make any sense...
tmperez, my order was never canceled. -
I see only "Temporary merchant authorization". I don't think that it is a good sign.
-
Except, my estimated total is $0.00 now!!! Anyone else in the same situation? -
Looks like this is happening to all who have ordered on the 14th. Maybe they are restarting the systems to prepare to dispatch them as new orders and ready to ship!!!!!
It is 10:00 am in Hong Kong
Just trying to be optimistic -
I'm in the same boat. Total would be around $0 just for the laptop, I hope they restart their system and they might ship it tomorrow, which is my estimate.
-
At this point guys I think we should just all plan on mid to late September and if it comes sooner then thats great. But to be honest I dont think all of these order status changes me anything. I think its just lenovo floundering to get the parts in, the machines manufactured and shipped.
I think I have come to terms with it, im not nearly as worked up tonight as I was last week. Im willing to bet that computer is going to be GREAT when it finally get to us, and like another post said a thinkpad is a thinkpad its one of the best machines on the market. I cant imagine coming home with a Dell or an HP when I was about to buy an X1. I think lenovo know they messed up, but at this point there is noting we can do.
It is interesting to see peoples updates and I will continue to update as I get any new news. I would be interesting in know what "order received" status means. Hopefully you guys didnt get bumped or anything like that. On second though this could all be related to the auto cancellations that happened earlier. It sound like a cancellation issue happened with in a date range of when orders were placed, lenovo may have went back and recreated or updated all the order in that range (so they dont loose more orders) thus you are getting the order received message. That last statement by me could be complete wring and made up....just a though. Let us know if you guys find anything out. -
I ordered on the 14th and im still "in production" with a dollar value on my order. No charges or hold on my CC.
Temp charge is good. They made sure you have the money, then they build and when it ships they charge. -
Thanks to everyone to posting their tales of woe.
I expected some delay or cancellation, but no surprises yet: ordered 2012/08/23, and the site immediately posted an estimated ship date of 2012/09/03. An hour ago the site showed 'In Production' with the same estimated ship date and now estimated delivery date of 2012/09/10.
Hope it holds (but I'm not expecting it to, so been also drooling over the Zenbook ux32VD if I get the massive slip or cancellation notice).
My config:
Part Number 3443CTO
Processor Intel Core i5-3427U on MB
Total memory 8 GB PC3-10600 DDR3L
Hard drive 256GB Solid State Drive SATA3 -
My original order was 8/20 with a ship date of 8/27. Of course it missed that. Yesturday my order went to "In Production" with a ship date of 8/31 and a delivery date of 9/9. Like some others have described my order is now "Order Received" with a ship date of 9/18 and a delivery date of 9/25 with $0 system cost.
-
Mine did the same. Going to call tomorrow to see whats up.
I didnt get a cancel email either
-
I ordered on 14th. My estimated ship date is 31st, and delivery date 09/09.
-
My status has gone from:
RTM---> Order Received
Estimated ship date of 9/26---> 9/18
Estimated delivery of nothing---> 9/25
Also, I ordered on 8/20 and it has a system cost of $0. I didn't get a cancellation e-mail, and I hope I don't get one. If I do this is the first and last Lenovo launch I throw money at. -
Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk -
Mines changed to:
Order Received
3443CTO
ThinkPad X1 - 1 Year Depot Warranty
1
41D0004 1YR OS NBD + ADP
No shipping or delivery date. No cost either.
The system is wacked or lenovo .. or both. -
Rest assured that Lenovo will bill you guys
They're probably receiving greater than expected order volumes for the X1C, so their notoriously glitchy order system is probably getting hit hard. -
4th set back! lol.
8/21 > 8/25 > 8/29 > 9/2
Thing is, 9/2 falls on a Sunday. I'm not believing any of these dates and I understand they're estimated ship dates. What worries me is how some Lenovo reps are saying they could be delayed until mid September. I guess I should just be patient since I got mine so much cheaper than its current price. Good things come to those who wait huh? -
Ordered on Aug 24 (i5+8GB RAM+256GB SSD);
just changed to In Production
Estimated shipping date: Sep 3rd (same as original estimate)
Estimated Delivery Date: Sep 10th.
We all want to have the unit ASAP. But As long as this unit is WHAT YOU LOVE TO HAVE, then why can't you wait for your love one? -
My order status went back to "In production", and estimated ship date changed to 29/08 and delivery to 06/09.
The biggest problem is lack of valid information from Lenovo, not the delay.
