Just checked the status page and the status is HF (Hold for customer information) doesn't sound good. I will keep you posted.

I've haven't read any reports over 3 hours, most at under 3 hours, so I would suggest finding a different laptop if that's a deal breaker for you.
-
Upsetting discovery. Just checked my order status and it's been moved from a ship date of 1/10/13 to 1/20/13, arrival estimate pushed to 1/27/13. Ugh. Oh well, I'd rather get one that works and get it late then get it early and have to send it back.
-
That's too bad. A couple weeks ago, my order status jumped to a ship date of 1/10, even though Lenovo reps said that on their end, it still showed earlier ship dates. Lo and behold, their end eventually caught up and said 1/10. Then yesterday, my order status jumped back and now my ship date is (apparently) tomorrow, 1/6. So we'll see if that happens.

How the heck is it that low?
That is simply pathetic for a laptop from Lenovo! Out of curiosity, what are the power settings/fan settings? -
I'm skeptical of these battery claims too. You never get as much out of the battery as the manufacturer claims (I think Lenovo claims 8.2 hours on their site for the X1CT), but real life use is usually only an hour or two below that number, not less than half. In Engadget's review, they claim "the X1 Carbon Touch's built-in 45Wh battery lasted just five hours in our rundown test, which involves looping a movie off the local disk with WiFi on and the brightness fixed at 65 percent." So I'm curious to try this out for myself when my laptop arrives.

I am getting over 4hrs with mine screen 100% and the rapid charge is amazing

Thors.Hammer Notebook Enthusiast
Apple said 7 hours for the 15" Retina MacBook Pro. That's what I was getting the last time I tested it. It's been a few months so it might be interesting to see if it's changed. -
And when you do test, please put the numbers up on this thread. Getting 1-2 Hours even on a Windows 8 touchscreen notebook is simply unacceptable!
-
I most certainly get close to the manufacturer batter claim on the x230 and x220t. I guess I was hoping too much for the X1CT.
-
Is wifi and Bluetooth on as well when you are getting 4+ hours? What kind of workload?
Thanks in advance for the info... Very helpful. -
I'm considering just returning this X1C Touch and not looking back at Lenovo. The X1C had problems, went back. Months later this X1CT's touchscreen barely works.
I was much happier with my 2-3 year old Samsung QX-410. I'll be looking at the Series 7 hard. I genuinely hope those with working X1C/X1CTs are happy with theirs. It's a great product, but I will NOT be waiting another 1-2 months to get a working unit. -
I got 5 hours and 20 minutes running Balanced and with the screen at 70%. Basically I used the laptop while the NFL playoffs were on, since I like the Packers the games were mostly background. So I would say light use like internet and Windows 8 apps, I watched an episode on Crunchyroll and the latest Don't Trust the B, and whenever I was away I fired up a slideshow from Windows Photo Viewer which accessed 2MB pictures from my desktop over wifi to keep the laptop from going to sleep.
My first impression of the battery is that is was just a bit less than the Yoga, funny how Engadget measured that impression. -
Thanks, Dayton. Eager to hear more of your impressions of the X1CT, especially compared with the Yoga.

I just got my X1C (originally ordered as X1CT but through order glitch, didn't get the touch display -- oh well no biggie) and honestly, I'm not really wowwed. Paid $1K and it really didn't feel like it was worth that money:
1. Screen-door effect. At a distance of just a little over 1ft I can see screendoor
2. There's something really weird about my trackpoint left-button clicker. It doesn't register unless I press right near the center
3. I have a nasty stuck red pixel that I haven't been able to remove
I have been much more satisfied with my T61. There's just something really disappointing about Lenovo's fit and finish even though I really
like Lenovo's designs. What really annoys me the most is that the resolution isn't great, and that darn stuck pixel.
Apple doesn't seem to have these problems.
I'd look into Samsung as well... but I've never owned a Samsung before. How are their keyboards compared to Lenovo? I played with their Series 9 and it seemed alright, but I believe the resolution on those were also 1600x900? Asus has a 1080p ultrabook but I hear the keyboard sucks (doesn't register unless pressed right on center). I might look into a Series 7 as well. -
1. Shame
2. This was covered a few posts back, there is some mouse settings in the control panel to remove the "centre click"
3. I hope you get more bad pixels, so they have to replace the screen. It may turn itself off later. Get a program called TurnOffLCD and cycle the monitor like 40-50 times and see if anything changes. Saves you having to reboot the whole PC or going into sleep mode often.
Apple has the same amount of issues as any other manufacturer. They are not immunune to issues caused by supplier parts -
Normally I'd give the company the benefit of the doubt with my original X1C having issues. But to have another major problem on my second iteration of their machine just turned me off completely.
I was actually very impressed with the Series 9 before looking at the X1C. The display quality is definitely better. Only reason I looked at the Lenovo is because of the styling, carbon, and price I got it for. The Lenovo is strong in a lot of areas outside of that even like the keyboard, trackpad, etc. But unfortunately the display and QC issues I've had didn't cut it. I was even able to look past the display since it was decent.
I hope you get those problems taken care of. For those that have good working machines out of the box, I would say enjoy it. I personally just can't stand to wait another 1-2 months for a replacement that could possibly be defective. -
Not a problem, funny how the strength of one is the weakness of the other:
"X1CT, if it had a IPS panel and 6 hours of run time it would be perfect ..."
"Yoga, if it had a better keyboard and NIC it would be perfect ..." -
Ugh... my X1CT ship date just got moved to the 20th now.
I am so torn as to whether or not I should wait for the X1CT (and if I will be happy with it) or if I should just pick up an Asus UX31A. -
Choice between having an IPS panel and superior keyboard/touchpad/trackpiont. Will the laptop be used primarily for work or leisure? Also with the Asus it will be luck of draw if it suffers from too much screen bleed, you should be able to check one out in person however.
-
Just curious, what would your recommendation be if the answer was work?
-
I agree. What would be your recommendation for internet usage, heavy MS Office usage, and occasional uses of legacy programs such as Wolfram Mathematica, etc.?
For the Yoga its strengths are having a nice IPS display and versatile form factor as well as having the longest battery life out of any Windows 8 touchscreen notebook on the market today. In comparison, the X1CT has a great keyboard but not much else to boast about. To me it seems as if the Yoga 13 is the better deal here (taking the keyboard into account as well- though it may not be as good as the X1CT, it is still definitely better than the majority of ultrabook keyboards on the market today).
Curious to see what people who who have had experience with both have to say! -
For work?, the X1CT, it is a ThinkPad after all. The Series 9, UX31A, and Yoga are all sexier. However all list the keyboard and/or touchpad as a weakness. For me this a problem when it comes to work, especially if you have to do a lot of typing. The keyboard and touchpad are very good on the X1CT, both strengths, and you also get a trackpoint.
The X1CT's screen can be seen as boring when it comes to displaying streaming video but it is fine for work. The screen has very little reflection and so you will be looking at content and not lights or your own face looking back at you. Since it is a TN panel the viewing angle falls off quickly on the y-axis but the 180 hinge takes care of this. Touch is also very good, I haven't registered a miss on a Windows 8 gesture yet.
The NIC is also very good on the X1CT from what I can tell so far. I will have a better view of this when I go to work tomorrow and I bounce around between AP's. The Yoga didn't do to well here and it is also only single band, no 5GHz. -
The helix is a good option to consider for anyone considering the Yoga.
-
A question from X1CT holders.
Does the screen rotate by rotating the case same as Yoga? -
No since it isn't needed as it is not a convertible.
-
No dice on the repair, they "cant find anything wrong with it" are you kidding me? They still think its a standard X1C even though i explained it a 100 times. And in order for me to get a refund it needs to be shipped back to me then shipped back to them. I spent 2 hours on the phone today, looks like i will be moving on from Lenovo, Now trying to find the next best thing.
-
You should try the lenovo forums before getting into the whole return hassle.
-
One thing to note between the Yoga and X1CT, the X1CT has a vent on the bottom that needs to be free of interference so it is really meant to be placed on a hard surface. This makes use on the lap a bit difficult. The Yoga sits flush and since it can also be folded into a tablet it is far more comfortable to use when not sitting at a desk.

X1CT at CES 2013
-
So today I ran a (non-scientific) side by side comparison for battery life between a Dell XPS 12 and the Lenovo carbon touch. Both have 8 GB Ram, I7 processor and 256 GB SSD. I used the Battery eater app for this, started both with 100% battery and just ran. Bot laptops were at 100% brightness, BT off, power plan to balanced.
The data speak for themselves.
-
It has a 5 hour battery run time, multiple reviews have measured this. I measured the same on mine. It is too bad that the X1CT doesn't hit 6 hours as one would hope in an "Ultrabook", even if it is a Windows 8 Touch laptop.
-
saw this from a different forum (about notebook battery in general, not about x1ct)
"because of impurities in the battery, the first (dis)charges aren't very efficient. After a couple weeks of constant use, the battery reaches the peak of its performance. " -
Likewise. I ordered my X1CT on 12/14. Original ship date of 12/24 pushed to 1/10 and now pushed to 1/20 with a 1/27 delivery estimate. Over six weeks from order date to delivery? Yikes!
As a long time Dell guy, my first Lenovo experience is not going well at all. First, all of the IPS confusion when the ordering site states IPS then that description changed to "Premium" display. My sales rep says "yes, definitely IPS" but we didn't learn the truth until some folks could finally get hands-on. And now stories of touch screen non-responsiveness, track pad mounting issues and poor battery life.
I'm trying to stay optimistic and open minded but I have to say that I'm starting to get a little worried. Good thing my 4 1/2 year old M6400 is still rocking with all of it's RGB LED glory...but it's like lugging around sack of taters. I'm looking forward to 3.4 lbs of lean and mean that I can get break out on an airplane in comfort. The M6400 just doesn't play well on an airplane. -
Anyone else in the same boat as me and can't decide between the X1C, X1CT and the Helix? That 1080P IPS on the Helix is so attractive. And with an i7 and pricepoint similar to the X1CT, I can't stop but love it.
-
1080P resolution on a 11.6" display? I hope you have really good eyesight to look at tiny icons. dockable solutions like helix, envy x2 etc are clumsy solutions IMHO.
the only ultrabook that I think comes close to the X1CT is the Samsung series 5 ultra announced at CES just today. -
You mean the Series 7 right? I'm returning my faulty X1CT for either the S7 or S9 (if it has a touchscreen).
-
Doh!.
Yes I meant Series 7 Ultra. looks very impressive. keyboard looks good. need to know about trackpad quality and pricing for the models -
All I did was post some unbiased experimental data comparing the two laptops. If other people get 5 hours, good for them. The lenovo is sitting right next in front of me now, with 100% battery, 50% screen brightness, and it reads 3 hours 31 min battery time while typing this. I must have a bad battery then....
-
I hear porno** really drains a battery fast? j/k
Drjochen, what are your thoughts now on the xps 12 and the x1c? I still have my xps on order suppose to ship the 30th but I am loving the weight, feel and build quality of the X1c. -
The Sony Vaio duo 11 has a 1080p 11.6" display and everything is perfectly readable and is very clear.
-
For tablet devices 1080p is definitely preferred even with the small screen.
-
i7 option is back online. EPP sales still valid until tomorrow. Sad the SSD is not easily replace yet.
-
They announced the Series 5 Ultra? I thought only the 7 was announced. The 5 Ultra was announced a few months ago
-
I updated to the latest widi driver from intel's website and now I do not have the exclamation mark under device manager.
-
Shipping date pushed back from today to the 19th. Working with Lenovo can be quite frustrating.. it still shows the old dates online and I only found out after calling in to get an update and pricematch with the (very attractive) EPP pricing.
-
My dates NEVER matched up with what the Lenovo reps told me when I did chats with them. But apparently mine finally shipped yesterday. Apparently it takes 24-48 hours for it to get from their warehouse to UPS, at which point I'll have a tracking number.
-
Ordered mine on 12/11. Now delayed until 1/20 ship date supposedly. I am not hopeful that it will actually ship however, it has been delayed 5 times now. I ordered a vanilla X1CT with Core i7, no other options.
I am also waiting for it to ship to do the price match. I took a screenshot of the pre-end of the year prices and started a thread with Lenovo support on the 30th. They are supposed to price match that price once it ships.
I keep debating cancelling my order and going with an Asus or Samsung but I haven't pulled the trigger because the X1CT has a really nice blend of appealing features to me. Assuming Lenovo honors the price match, my X1CT finally ships and doesn't have any major issues I will probably keep it. If not, I will get my money back and target a new Samsung Series 7 ultra. -
I noticed some of the Ultrabooks at CES are expected to ship in Feb, which unfortunately is pretty darn close to when I should be getting my X1CT. I think I am going to wait. X1CT technology seems pretty old at this point, and to me battery/size/screen > moderately better keyboard and Lenovo heritage (which doesnt mean much to me).
-
Can you tell me what was the year end price?
I want to get the i5 with 8GB on X1CT but that isn't available... but the i7 with 8GB is available.... that is 1368 plus taxes... should I go for it?
