Which CES ultrabooks have you heard are shipping in Feb? I am really interested in the Samsung 7 series ultra, but hadn't heard about a US release date.

I am assuming I can't get EPP pricing unless I know someone at Lenovo... or is there just a code I can put? -
I'm so indecisive. I'm on the fence in regards to the x1ct with the i7 now available again.
-
then I am worried if the touch screen glare would be hard to work with...
now, on top of that, the cost differential between touch and non touch is less than 100...
but I am also worried because they are offering non touch with Win7... is Win 8 not working well. or they just think Win7 is good option to keep for people who don't want touch,,,, -

There's absolutely no doubt that there are quality control issues with the new X1CT, but don't forget that as with any product, there are many, many people who are happy with their X1CTs who have no reason to go to forums like this; it's people with problems who seek out forums for advise. I'm sure the majority of X1CT units are fine, with the minority having problems, it's just that in this case the minority is larger than it should be. -
Done. I have an x1ct, i7, 8gb, 128gb, 2 year next day warranty+accidental coming some time after the 20th.
-
how much for warranty?
and did u use any specific code? -
I chose not to update the wifi as I read on another forum some users had issues after updating the new wifi driver?
My wifi works fantastic so I did not want to take a chance.
Not sure why your Lenovo center would be showing 2 devices not installed though? -
-
I couldn't connect to a network that didn't broadcast it's SSID until I upgraded the wifi drivers. At work I did sort of experience what was mentioned in the laptopmag review about the wifi disconnecting and requiring a repair. This is on a Cisco AP network, I will explore it more tomorrow.
-
Windows 8 may not be able to connect to some Cisco routers
I bought couple of Dell Optiplex 9010 AIO Touchscreen with Windows 8 Pro and had the same issue at work with Cisco AP. Your network engineer needs to update the firmware on those Cisco AP's or you need to downgrade your driver to Windows 7 version of the WiFi card or your OEM will need upload the Windows 7 version of the driver under Windows 8 category on the product support page.
In my case, because the Windows 8 workstations are so new, I had to downgrade manually to the Windows 7 driver as Dell had not released an official one for Windows 8. -
@themouse - can't figure out how to enable PM. Would love to know what codes are required to get that fantastic EPP rate. I paid over $1400 for my i7+8GB X1CT( $1569 w/2 year in-home coverage)... would love to bring this price down to a reasonable level if at all possible.
Cheers,
Jon -
Isn't B&N cheaper than $1400?

@themouse, can you pls PM today.
If I don't get a code today, atleast I can use the ULTRADEAL coupon,.. not sure how much it will be by tomorrow -

I have a good friend who is a student and maybe I can ask her to buy for me? Would it impact her in any way?
Thanks -

Is there any way to use some type of pen to take notes on the x1ct?
-
-
-
you can get a stylus to work on x1ct, but it will not have very good accuracy nor the palm rejection (i.e. it will not tell the difference between a hand and stylus). A stylus works better on a tablet that comes with a digitizer layer under the usual screen (e.g. tpt2).

ANY info appreciated! I mean, if it's only $20 I'm not going to sweat it, but if I'm spending $100 or more than I should, then I totally care.
BTW, my shipping date is in major flux. I went to 1/20/13, then back to 1/11, and now today it's 1/16! -
then 84$ for warranty
plus taxes...
I wasn't able to use 10% on top of ULTRADEAL coupon... just used ULTRADEAL code with the B&N affiliate URL -
So did it finally ship? I still see 1/20/13 shipping if I order today but I imagine it'd be delayed too...

also, I haven't had any issues with the X1C that I am using right now..<-- from work... that is why I am actually ordering the X1CT cos I fell in love with this beast. -
Interested to hear from X1CT buyers who have had theirs for a few days or more... Can you do a quick review of all the key points? And ultimately, was it worth the price-premium over other ultrabooks currently on the market? Thanks...
-
The price premium was reasonable with the last ultradeal coupon though.. 1286 for i7/8gb is great. I think the trend has been that buyers who've gotten a proper working touch screen really like it. Battery life may be the only issue.. though as long as it can do around 5 hours on a medium workload, it shouldn't be too bad.
I ended up cancelling my order after the shipping date moved further, will be waiting a month or so for reviews and another coupon to come along.
-
I think price-wise, the Ultradeal for the x1ct/i7/8GB was the best we would see for a long while. I remember when I I bought my X220 Tablet, the price never dipped that low again.

I paid 1800 for mine total tax and all with i7/8gb/256 and I would not sale it for 2k if someone offered. I had my doubts in the screen at first but after having it over a week I am very happy with it.
The xps 12 I ordered will be given to the wife it looks like more of a woman's laptop anyway -
I had saved a quote with the coupon. Just called lenovo and they're saying it can still be used (I always thought if the coupon expired the quote wouldn't work?), but woohoo, I can still get it for that great price!

Can someone direct and instruct me as to how to use this "ultra deal" promo?

I have an i7/8GB with the Intel 240GB SSD, system is plenty peppy with Windows Experience as follows:
CPU 7.1
Mem 7.4
Desktop 5.3
Gaming 6.4
Disk 8.1
Overall build quality is very good, no odd bends or seams, and sturdy. I accidentally sat on it, not a problem. Easy to clean, just a wipe with a micro cloth does the trick.
Heat and noise, none at all when used on a flat surface. There is a vent on the bottom that needs to remain unobstructed. If you put it on your lap and cover this vent, it will feel warm on your leg and you may hear the fan kick in.
Input, keyboard and touchpad are excellent and you even get the trackpoint if more precision is ever needed.
Screen, kind of boring if you were hoping for an IPS panel but it isn't a bad screen. Text is crisp, resolution of 1600x900 matches the screen size well, and the touch is excellent. It is very rare to have to repeat a gesture. Limited viewing angles is probably the screens biggest weakness.
Not a lot of bloatware, so just an uninstall of the unwanted will do the trick no need to do a re-install. No wonky partitions like on the Yoga, looks like just system, recovery, and rapid start.
Battery life about 5 hours, which is disappointing as one would hope for at least 6. Rapidcharge is very cool and handy and this does kind of offset the lower than expected battery run time.
Looking like a keeper, 5 hour battery is not great but I'm very happy with everything else. While the Engadget review can be harsh it is also fair so worth checking out for those that want a critical opinion. -
I have a note that was supposedly entered in my profile with Lenovo rep that expired coupon would be honored bc I tried to get a price match before it shipped and they said they couldn't do so until it shipped. So if they keep true to their promise I may still be eligible. Could someone tell me how to get the BN coupon?

-
So the screen is different than the one in the non-touch model? For me, the only reason to get the Touch instead of the previous model would be a better screen.
-
In some ways I want to just go out and buy a Yoga, because, well at several hundred dollars less, with an IPS screen and convertibility to boot, just seems like a better deal. I do, of course, prefer the ThinkPad keyboard and black finish, but wondering if the price premium is worth it...

The battery life for me is acceptable.
I get about 3:45 full brightness (which really 80% is good enough) so I would guess at 80% I would get right at 4hrs maybe a little more and that's with wifi and Bluetooth on.
I will let it loop some movies tonight at 80% and report back.
But on another note I buy a new laptop about every 6months and this is the most balanced feeling laptop I have had. Even the extra weight of the touch screen glass makes it feel excellent.
