Jeffrey, trust me, I agree with your disgust. I would be pissed, too. Lenovo just isn't worth it.

I replied to your request and confirmation for core i7-8GB-128GB at the $1,286.22 is in your email address.

I am also completely dissatisfied by Lenovo in terms of customer service. I agree that the quality of an ultra book at this price is worthwhile, but customer should be respected by this company.

My company for 10 years has been buying hundreds of Lenovo machines annually, and now this year we have switched to dell. It takes a lot of wrongs to loose a 10 year customer!

Laptop Arrived! Typing this on it now. Touch screen working flawlessly.. Literally 10x better in responsiveness than the Yoga. Keyboard a 10, screen doesn't really bother me. So far so good. Very happy..

Glad to hear they are finally making their way out to those who ordered. I've had mine for a month now and I love it, it is with me at almost all times. Why I am trying to find a good sleeve so I don't have to worry about it knocking around my messenger bag as much.

    Ordered mine on 24th December.

@Dayton, can you please upload a screenshot for the location or wording of the edge tap setting for the touchpad under ultranav settings? I cannot seem to find any setting under ultranav that gives me an option to disable such thing.

When is Lenovo going to start shipping the X1CT again? I had placed an order for a work machine back in Nov, after months of arguing with incompetent Lenovo support who kept asking for the same order details over and over, we finally had to cancel and place a new order. I agree with others, very unprofessional conduct and the only reason I'm still a customer is there seem to be no alternatives good enough.

    Hamilton. $1900 incl GST for i5, 4GB, 256GB SSD.

ANZ Lenovo has jacked the price of upgrading from 128GB SSD to 256GB SSB by crazy $500. I was lucky to have it ordered 2 days after it's release in NZ and placed the order under education discount link which only charged me extra $130 for the SSD upgrade. Also got the USB to Ethernet adapter in the price.

X1CT seems to be on sale in ANZ every couple of weeks.

I ordered on 28th Dec from Christchurch, still waiting .The total for mine was $2700 inc i7/8gb/128GB +usb ethernet+bag. But i didnt get the extra upgrade on SSD as it was so pricey already.

update for all, I ordered in the first week of Jan, the order status page had the dates of 1/17, then 1/24, then 1/20, then 1/28 then 2/5 and now 2/6
Just talked to a rep and asked him when should I expect. He said they are going to start shipping again on 2/6 and then depending on which lot my order is part of, I will get it

I did mentioned that I have already waited for 3 weeks already and why I shouldn't cancel. Heck, the laptop is already out-dated by the time I get it..
This is not acceptable by any company specially a hardware one.. Things move too fast in this space.

Anyway, he mentioned that they will file a concession for the delay of the order once the order gets shipped. So, based on that, I will wait and see if it gets shipped soon. If not, the concession may not be good enough to keep me waiting

I work in IT for a university which deals with Lenovo for student machines so picked up $100 off through that education discount.

I could not find the option anywhere to upgrade to 8GB RAM with i7 or i5 CPU so was stuck with 4GB RAM. Still plenty to do development on.

got the topload case and sleeve along with portable lenovo dvd burner for $1 each from lenovo after I complained to lenovo for the order to take so long to ship. :D

Protips - turn off bluetooth, GPS and mobile broadband (if you have a card built in) under settings inside the new start settings UI to save on battery life. I just have Wi-Fi on left in there.

Also enroll in the biometric sensor. It even turns on the machine and logs me in into my microsoft account with just 1 scan.

boot up time is crazy quick this way without the need for me to enter in my password for even press the power button on the machine.

damn! I always thought that extra $250 to upgrade to i7 from an i5 is a rip off but it also doubles the RAM. I hope 4GB lasts me now for a few years as can't upgrade RAM in this anymore myself.

Yea on their customize page it doesn't even show 8GB ram is possible, I had to asked the rep if they could get a 8gb ram in this model somehow, and they told me the I7 option. Still waiting for the device and the 11am bell to give them a call.

Yup TouchPad is very good, I even have mine at max sensitivity. I think the Edge tap filtering setting is meant to help from accessing Charms accidentally.

I would also suggest checking out the Eye-One calibrated ICC in the X1 Color Settings thread, especially if the default looks too cold to you. I use the Eye-One with the Gamma ticked down a notch.

Today I received the WaterField SleeveCase from sfbags. It is snug and on the rugged side, imagine making a sleeve out of a lined backpack. Speaking of backpacks, it is probably best suited to be used with a backpack. It may be a bit thick for use with a messenger bag, my situation, but I think I'm going to keep it. I may also order the Topload & Small Sleeve Set once it becomes available to have a thinner alternative.

I read on the X1C owner's thread that he Lenovo 14W sleeve is slightly too large. People said this one was snug. But I really like the sfbags options much better.

Even the "Small" set?, Lenovo made it sound like it would offer a snug fit. The sfbags sleeve is more like a snug case, especially if you opt to add the flap.

Just received the Lenovo 14W Topload case & Sleeve and USB Slim portable dvd drive from Lenovo. The Sleeve fits perfectly and uses a magnetic lock mechanism like you see in ladies handbags. The lock itself is inserted within the fabric so not visible. Got the brown colour as the black was out of stock. The topload case without the shoulder strap looks and feels great. First comment at work was' thats a nice looking case'.

For $1, I am not going to complain. I like the case.

Thanks for the info on the Sleeve, I will go ahead and place an order for the black and since the shipping date keeps slipping I can use my sfbags SleeveCase in the meantime. I do like the sleeve from sfbags but it is more case than I need as I use a messenger bag, protects the hell out of the X1CT however.

Finally I got my X1CT touch deviled today. After a long time of waiting and delaying in shipping. Till now every thing work fine. the keyboard is impressive (10/10), but the display quality as expected from previous owner is not remarkable (6/10). is there any setting adjustment to make it more sharp and vivid?

Download the Eye-One ICC from the X1 Color Settings thread, it will make the colors warmer and more accurate. Except for the viewing angle falling off quickly on the vertical, which is the norm for a TN panel, I have no problem with the screen.

Does anyone else who ordered the X1C Touch have a part number on the order screen that is 3443CTO? I'm concerned that I will be getting a regular X1 Carbon and not a Touch model. My screen does specify that it is a MT screen, but I'm not very confident after doing some Google searches. :)

Yep, the base part number is 3443CTO for the X1 Carbon Touch - at least for my order. Under "Display Panel" it should say X1 Carbon 14.0 PHD+ MT.

Now if they could just ship them! I ordered 12/29 and it just keeps getting pushed out by 2 days every other day. Frustrating.

    Hi Everyone,
I thought I would share my experience with the ordering process, in case others like me are waiting for the delivery of the X1CT and were going stir-crazy with lenovo's lack of production planning.
Originally ordered on 1/15 with expected ship date of 1/21. I was impressed since the website said 4 weeks.
    on 1/21, pushed to 1/26
on 1/26, pushed to 1/27. Got email from Lenovo saying shipment in the "next 30 days"
on 1/27, pushed to 1/28. At this point I email CS to complain. I'm fine with waiting 4 or even 5 weeks, but just wanted them to help manage my expectations.
    on 1/29, pushed to 2/1.
Today, I get an email from CS
"As per the update from the supply chain, we would like to inform you that the order is delayed due to constrain with the A cover in the Think Pad X1. We are expecting the order to ship in next 20 days or maybe early. I do understand that the order has been delayed which is really not acceptable for you. However we have a huge demand for the X1 model. I will try my best to work with the back end team and have the order shipped to you at the earliest. "

Anyone else get that response? I'm just trying to confirm that they are in fact having a cover problem, and just a cover problem.

    Excited to get this laptop!

I ordered 12/29/12 (yes, 2012), and have received a few different delay emails, along with my OVP status pushing out continuously (almost always 2 days from today for the ship date). Here's the latest email I received, from 1/29/13:

Thank you for your recent purchase of the Lenovo ThinkPad
X1 Carbon. Unfortunately due to overwhelming demand,
we are experiencing delays in processing shipments for your
X1 Carbon. We are making every effort to fulfill your order,
and it is currently scheduled to ship the week of February 8th.

At this point I have very little faith that it will ship anytime near February 8th, but there have been several people on this forum receiving them.

So I got my X1CT on Monday. Here are my impressions:

    - Touch display works great, no issues at all.
    - Display is good as far as my happiness with it goes. I like the resolution, the brightness is pretty good. I like that it is mostly matte. However, the screen door effect on white backgrounds stinks.
    - Performance is awesome (most important to me).
    - Keyboard is awesome.
    - Weight, size and overall look is awesome.
    - Trackpad is good.
    - Battery life is good. I seem to be getting around 4 hours on average while doing normal usage.

I submitted my price match on Monday and I should hear back about it tomorrow based on Lenovo's response.

Other X1CT Owners - I ran the Lenovo diagnostics and my Toshiba SSD failed the "SMART short self-test". Does your SSD pass this test? Wondering if I need to RMA already.

Many thanks, Dayton, for the excellent hints you have provided. I tried to change the display to the Eye-One color scheme, but, as in the case of ali, precioso, it didn't seem to change anything. Then, with the help of your latest message, I found the "Use Windows display calibration" checkbox, but I couldn't tick it because it was greyed. How does one make that active so it can be checked?

Sigh. So, after a long, long wait, I finally got my X1CT. It's a beautiful laptop, but I might not be able to keep it. First, the fan makes a really annoying whining sound. That I hope & predict that a replacement will rectify. I've already submitted for a replacement.

BUT, what shocked me was how much the screen door effect is really, really, really bothering me! I have to wonder if I hadn't read about it first how much I'd have noticed it. But nevertheless, I presumed that it wouldn't bother me because it's never bothered me before. Well, it bothers the heck out of me. And so much of my web browsing is on a white background that I feel like this is all I see. Screen door.

What am I to do? I really need a trackpoint (or equiv), a touchscreen, SSD, 8GB RAM laptop/ultrabook with a high-rez screen. I feel like at this point there are no other options except for dealing with this horrible screen. How could they have done this to this amazing laptop??

We need to petition Lenovo about their poor screen quality, namely the screen door effect. It can't be good on the eyes with long hours of use.

They're selling so many notebooks, people are accepting these pathetic screens ... sad.

You should petition LG Display, as this is not a Lenovo-only problem. For example, HP uses the same 14" LG screens as Lenovo in their 14" Elitebook systems, also with the screen door effect, and there are some machines more out there with these screens. Also, look on the other 14" business UltraBooks from HP, Dell and Lenovo. Most of them doesn´t even offer HD+, they just come with the pathetic HD resolution, and an even lower screen qualitiy. People and businesses also accept these screens...

wow. things must be changing over at lenovo because i just had a very pleasant experience with a csr named keeley.

as background, i was shipped the wrong laptop. i was sent a non-touch carbon when i ordered a touch version. when i called customer service last week, they explained to me that i would have to place a new order and they would not honor the price i originally paid. also, i would have to pay a 15% restocking fee in order to return the laptop that i was shipped (even though i called the same day that the machine was delivered before even opening the box).

anyway, i decided to wait a week to cool off. i also grabbed the screenshot i had from my original order which clearly states the price and multi-touch panel. i decided to call back and ask for a price match. as luck would have it, the call was answered by someone who must've been trained at zappos.

in the end, she didn't need the screenshot. she matched the specs and price of my original order. no restocking fee. she did warn me that the laptop would not ship for 3-4 weeks, but that i didn't have to return the non-touch until after i receive the new laptop. also, she said she couldn't give me the same 8% in credits that i received for the previous delays. but, in all honesty, that's a fair price to pay. just happy to get what i ordered at the price i ordered. even it if will end up being about 12 weeks from the date of my original order. at least i have a non-touchl to use in the meantime.

so, for those who are having frustrating experiences with customer service, hold out hope. keep trying until you get a good csr. or, just call back and ask for keeley. :)

    good luck!

Could you change the ICC display option. I also had the same problem and even followed the instruction from system default setting too. But still don't see any change in display using proposed profile. Please let me know if you could handle the issue to have better display mood. Thanks
