My status is out for delivery
-
I just talked to two sale representative and they both confirmed that it has IPS display. The data sheet for touch model is not available yet, but they are informed in product training that it is IPS. I even asked them to confirm this fact by sending me an email, so I can take action based on their claim later. I think some of you will also get it in next days and I hope to know your judgment about the display soon.

FWIW: Anyone waiting for CES announcement. Expect Intel Haswell laptop to show up at the earliest, if lucky summer 2013 ( Intel Haswell CPUs delayed until June 2013)
-
I'm not sure if that's possible. You can try. Let me know what you hear.
-
UPS is calling the driver now, she said there is no reason why they should not be able to deliver today?
Personally I think the driver just wants to call it an early day.
I doubt they will deliver but I will post if they do? If not then Wed will be the day. -
Thors.Hammer Notebook Enthusiast
Awesome.
-
Yip.. I guess my only option is to just wait until the i7 version becomes available again. I might consider XPS 12 but it's small, heavy and quite ugly, imho..
-
I just talked to a Lenovo rep....he also said that the x1 touch has an IPS display...take it with a grain of salt, as always
-
Does anyone have any details on the new 2500 dollar model (2200 with the New Year's discount) x1 carbon touch that seems to have just appeared today?
Looking at the specs shows that it's the exact same as the i5 4gb $1300 model....
Must be a mistake? -
That's a mistake in their webpage and should be ignored, There is no new model based on what the representative mentioned. They also say the web section for i7/8GB has error that will be fixed in next days.
-
Just got mine in today.
First impressions are not good,
Touchscreen not working- hoping I am just missing something, still checking on settings
Computer detail/info states its single touch not multitouch?
Screen is OK, I don't think its an IPS and i don't feel its as bright as my previous X1
Windows is not activated, huh?
Thinner bezel then previous X1
Toshiba branded 128GB SSD
Will post pictures in a bit. -
Congratulations, Finally we found a person who has received X1 touch, Is this possible for you to do unboxing video and upload for others waiting for the unit? what's your satisfaction with the laptop in general? can you please provide us more info about the display and how it react to touch capability? Thank you and I hope it be a good machine for you .
-
Hmmm.. I think he already unboxed it and said his touchscreen isn't working.

Has the keyboard got the search and charms menu button somewhere along the top row of keys? And you did order the touch version of this model? From the last photo it does not looks like an edge to edge glass which tells me not a touch panel on your machine? besides the touch screen not working, any other negative or bad to say about it? What does the battery meter say in terms of remaining battery life from full charge?
edit - also how many seconds does it take to boot up to windows login screen from cold start? -
Check the second to last photo. Just under bottom right hand corner of the screen. Edge to edge "glass" does not equate to edge to edge screen real estate.
-
Here you go:
As far the ordering the touch version, yes i first thought the same thing and maybe thought they sent the wrong one. But i double checked my order. I had the standard X1 Carbon a few months ago and unless they changed the screen on the standard X1C this screen is edge to edge plastic screen (not glass) and is thicker. Also note the thinkpad led light on the outside logo,I don't remember the standard X1C having that. The issues i am having is really odd and i guess this was bound to happen for early adopters like us.
-
How does the extra weight feel compare to your previous X1C, Is it noticeable? Does the extra screen thickness make the laptop feel less "svelte"?
Thanks for the feedback -
Ah yes, 2nd last photo shows edge to edge glass display so a touch screen bezel for sure.
try doing a 'refresh'. it's under charms menu, settings, general and then refresh. don't do a restore. just try a refresh. works wonders for lots of new machines out of the box.
the screen looks washed out from photos for some reason or maybe it's just the photos. is the screen good quality looking? -
you can feel the difference for sure, a bit top heavy but as picky as i am its a non issue.
The screen is ok, its about par with standard X1C as far as quality and resolution (no visible pixels) but not as bright, Under the device manager the monitor is listed as "Thinkpad Maxbright Display" -
Thank you for the feedback. Other than the touchscreen not working, are you happy with it? Obviously you're going to want to return it, but just curious if there were any other major issues.
I hope you get it to work and it's not a hardware issue.
So far, I've seen three users that have received their X1C Touch and all have complained that their touchscreen does not work. Do they not inspect these devices before they go out? I'm afraid the one I get on Wednesday will be the same. I hope it's a simple driver issue or something. -
Here is my educated guess.... I ordered mine on 12/11, the day the X1CT became available. My first expected shipping date was the 21st. now it has moved out to the 10th of January. It moved out to the 26th of Dec first for a couple of days and then jumped out to the 10th of January. Reading through various threads this has happened to a bunch of people. My guess is that they caught this issue and are fixing it before they send out the majority of the X1CT orders. The lucky (unlucky) ones that got their X1CT shipped out before the 10th will have the problem.
Just my guess, but seems like a likely theory given it explains the initial touch problems for those that received the units as well as explains the huge shipping delay for the rest of us. -
It looks from the photos like the screen is not IPS... can you confirm? Also, it is matte, not glossy, correct?
-
That's my theory as well. Makes total sense.
-
same story for me. But it's hard to believe that they didn't check touch feature for all of the shipped packages, or maybe it now reflecting how the quality of their service is actually. I suggest those who have the same issue to call lenovo technical department for assistance. ask about any lock switch or driver issue related to new touch model. My wish is that it's not a critical problem related to hardware
-
I'm sure you have googled the the solution before, anyway here is the link how people fixed the problem for Yoga touchscreen issues. Maybe the X1 display works same.
Yoga touchscreen not working... - Page 3 - Lenovo Community -
Hi,
Anybody an idea whether the screen door effect is still around in the X1CT?
Thanks! -
Did anyone notice that the screen on the box is described as "14.0MTPreHD+LED720pHDCCmNoWW"? I guess "MT" means MultiTouch so ti seems like they sent you the right one. I would take a good look at that Yoga thread on lenovo forums and try out all the solutions they found. What I find really strange is the "720p" bit. You mentioned that the screen looks good. I guess it's just a misprint but you could check if you resolution before returning, that would be great.I don't know what "CCm" or "NoWW" is supposed to mean.. No wide view angles..? On the other hand, judging from your screen photos, the horizontal viewing angles seem to be pretty decent but the vertical ones not so much...
-
720pHDCCm indicates 720p webcam, the noWW indicates no optional 3G WWAN.

The viewing angles look pretty good. About in line with the original X1C. It would be nice to see some straight on shots too, or less extreme angles.
-
Some more pictures of straight screen shots and other issues i have noticed. In the computer details it shows it as a single touch capable only and in the device manager looks like a device is missing a driver.
I have been an avid and loyal Thinkpad user since the T40, but i am thinking about jumping ship. You cant release a product at this price point and have this level of poor quality control.
Screen does look better in person, camera is not doing it justice. -
Thanks! Yeah, it is disappointing to see from Lenovo. I went through some early adoption issues with the X1C original too. I think you should give them the benefit of the doubt here that it might be a sw/driver issue and try to deal with them on this. If you're happy with everything else on it and fix this issue then you should be pretty well off. The display is a 10-point capacitive panel.
If I have the issue with mine tomorrow, I will help you with it as well. I'm hoping it's not the problem on mine, but then again I'm also hoping it's just a driver/bios issue that will be a remedy for all the users with this problem. Dealing with returns/exchanges are always a pain, not to mention finding that "perfect" laptop after.
With all the mix-ups we see from Lenovo, I wouldn't put it past them to have mixed a driver with the X1C original or something. It's still a very new notebook. I hope you get this fixed! -
@sultan2you I just checked my Dell Optiplex 9010 AIO touchscreen and in system settings it does says 'full windows touch support with 10 points touch' whereas yours say 'single touch'.
did you try a system refresh? -
Ya just got off the phone with tech support in Atlanta, the guy i spoke to was completely clueless. It seemed to me he didn't even know the X1CT existed and kept saying it doesn't show a touchscreen in the hardware info based on the model and serial i gave him. Machine type 3443CTO is showing as a standard X1C, i had him setup a repair and send me out a box just in case. -
Good catch, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to apply to the X1CT touchscreen issue, i tried the "hard reboot" no dice. and as for disabling the BtDevManager service it doesn't exist on our model.
-
I don't notice any at all.
-
So what's weird about that, is that my X1C original (non-touch) had the same system type 3443CTO. I think there's a possibility that they loaded the drivers from it instead of new ones designed for the X1CT. Or they will share the same drivers and didn't update them for touch support. I will look into this now for you. But they may not have posted the drivers to download yet.
I don't want to say don't send it back, but I would have that as backup and try to see if it's just a driver issue before-hand. When I sent in my X1C for repairs a few months ago, it ended up getting stuck in repairs for more than a month because of a backordered part. That's why I told them to just refund me and I'm currently getting the touch model tomorrow. With the i7 models being on backorder now, it's a possibility that it could happen to you too. Unless they find the driver and load it for you, which you probably could have done yourself.
I'm not saying to not send it to them, just to keep that in mind and see if you can do anything first so you don't have to go through the hassle. -
I completely agree, especially since I am still working off of my laptop this is to replace and waiting a week or more is no big deal. I am currently doing a full fresh restore on the X1CT as i am typing this, i will let you know if anything comes out of it.
-
CTO = Custom to Order and is a generic modelname for every model that is built on demand/specs. As a result, the CTO driver pages would always have to contain every driver for every possible variation built under that model number .... This is how it has been in the past. I therefore expect the touch drivers to pop up there pretty soon.

Damn, I'm sorry about your screen woes, I just ordered my X1CT a couple of days ago. I read the battery life is up to 8.2 hours (I think the X1C was previously 7 hours before they increased it to 8.2 as well). How has your X1CT battery life been so far?
Also, how much usable hard drive space do you have out of 128GB? Did they butcher the partitions like they reportedly did with the Yoga 13?
Regards, -
I haven't tested the battery yet, but i can tell you its not anywhere near 8.2 hours in energy saver mode, right now in energy saver with 94% remaining its estimated run time is 3 hours and 47 minutes. It doesn't seem any better then my previous X1C for sure. As for the usable space on 128GB drive, its 72GB free space 34GB for OS and programs and the remaining for the restore partition.
-
sultan, can you confirm that the display is *not* IPS? And can anyone comment on the weight/bulk difference? Should the X1CT ever become a usable touch-screen product (*ahem*), these will be useful things to know...
-
I am about 98% sure its not an IPS. Yes you can notice a bit of weight difference due to the thicker screen but i personally think its an improvement over the standard X1C. I never liked the standard X1C's flimsy screen bezel and was one f the reason I sold it.
-
Interesting, that's what I was thinking when I had the X1C too. It didn't seem "planted" I guess you could say. I like the thinner screen of the X1C, but I'll take the added weight for a better sense of stiffness.
-
Why did they remove the X1C Touch w/ i7? I'd rather be able to order it with a shipping date a month out than not being able to order it.
-
Just got mine the screen is working fine for me. Be patient guys I just opened it up and playing with things but tested the screen several times and it recognizes all my commands and touches the display is decent not as good as my zenbook 31a but decent. Build quality feels fantastic and the keyboard and trackpad are far better than the Asus.
Will post back in a few -
Thats great to hear Darkhan. I ordered mine Dec 26 with your configuration and hope it ships on 1/8 as estimated. Just checked the lenovo site and when you go to the "shop now" site the X1c touch is now listed as unavailable at lenovo.com.
It states: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Ultrabook™ The product you are searching for is currently unavailable on Lenovo.com.
It has a couple listed . . one is over 2,000 which I know is an error Something is going on . .
