A heads up to anyone who recently purchased one of these-
Today I got an email about a 12% off sale on ThinkPads, including the X1C and X1CT. This is the link
Shop Laptop Top Deals,ThinkPad Deals & Sales for ThinkPad laptops | Lenovo | (US)
I configured a laptop exactly like the one I have on order, and it came out to be over $300 cheaper. I called up Sales support, and within 10 minutes the rep helped me do a price match, so when it ships (which is when I'll get billed) I should either get charged less or get a refund for the difference. With the price of the X1CT, a discount of over $300 really makes it worth it.

I had the same conversation with them. They said it wouldn't be a problem after the 1st. I told them to make a note in my account stating that and asked for his name. I will threaten to return it if they don't fulfill the price match. My concern though is they won't do it because I already got the 10% off from the earlier promotion!
but hey I will play hardball.

Interesting. Looks like this guy got his X1CT already. Seems like he's having touch screen issues. Ugh.

Where is the post you're referring to?

Crap. UPS was saying expected delivery was Wednesday, 1/2/13. It went from Shanghai, to Osaka, and arrived in Anchorage, AK today. Unfortunately, it's in Louisville, KY now with the status "This shipment is warehoused until it is released by Clearing Agency." and no more expected delivery date. I hope this is normal and it isn't delayed.

My dad works at IBM, one of the people who made Watson, so that plus the coupon makes the discount on the X1CT awesome.

Thanks all, was waiting for a deal on the X1 Carbon Touch and pulled the trigger. Total on the i7/8GB/128GB with 3-year warranty was $1450 including tax. Can't wait!!

-
Why 128gb sad when it is not easily upgradeable? That is my biggest dilema at the moment. Should I spend 280 for ssd now or wait

Sandisk makes the custom X100 in the Carbon models. I guess it remains to be seen if they'll let you buy direct.
See Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1 Carbon Ultrabook Review and SSD Analysis The SSD Review for a good review of the X1 Carbon and the 256GB drive. You might ask Les what he thinks will happen in the third party market. He's plugged in and can give you an objective answer. -
Ok, so I tried to order yesterday but for some reason my card would not go through (I'm sure the card works etc.), I don't know if it's my bank not liking the lenovo website or the other way around. In any case, I got an agent on chat and she saved a quote for me (with the awesome B&N discount). I checked back today and the quote was gone. Got another agent and she told me that the i7 version of X1CT is sold out. But it should be available again "soon", which could mean anything. I'm wondering if I should just wait until CES, where there will be a few more touch ultrabooks announced and hopefully released.. It seems like people are not getting their units anyway, so no big loss. I'm getting the feeling that lenovo maybe fukced up the touchscreen, and it slipped past their QA or something. So now they say it's "sold out" and are trying to get back the ones that actually shipped. Of course, this is pure speculation and maybe that guy got a one-off lemon. I guess we'll see soon enough.

You know I had a similar premonition about Lenovo screwing up the screens and trying to get them back and disguising it as shipping delays. Would make sense of their irratic behavior.
-
-
The touch screen is the primary difference between the X1C and the X1CT. I mean, just look at the name. So I HIGHLY doubt that the screen, the main, distinguishing new feature, got past QA.

Just an update..my package was quickly released by customs and is out for delivery from KY today. Weird since its Sunday. But I'd say there's a good chance Ill get it within the next few days.
Hoping I won't go through what I did with my original X1C.

So if no x1 carbo touch then what a good alternative. Acer s7 suck due to limit 4gb. Asus ux31a same boat.
Dell xps 12 and yoga 13 both looks promising.
HP spectra ultra 14 no have touch -
if the carbon touch does not meet my expectations the xps 12 will be on order. I am really hoping the lenovo works for me.
-
I was thinking of same. Xps 12 but not sure of quality of hinge

Anything showed at CES will be probably at the earliest a March or April timeline. I just sold my zenbook to get the carbon touch for work so I will need something to hold me over till the new stuff comes out.

Unless you have a machine on its last legs or find a smoking deal on a machine right now, you might want to wait and see what is coming. -
The problem with CES and technology, it happens every year. It gets announced at CES in two weeks, it shows up close to summer, if lucky. You wait for deals in Oct - Dec, then the dilemma occurs all over again as CES is around that corners. Technology moves too fast and stop for no one.

Time to get back on the topic of the X1 Carbon Touch.
How bout that screen? Any new owners want to post some pics? Purdy please? -
My X1CT order has been delayed for shipping estimate by further 10 days now. Will ship on 20th January instead of 10th January. CSR said due to the LCD panel shortage for this model. Disappointed. She did mention that I can cancel the order anytime before delivery and even return the product after delivery within 14 days if I don't like the product for a full refund.
Here is hoping CES 2013 brings something fantastic and OEM's don't take 4 months to deliver the products to consumers from there on. -
-
Mine arrives tomorrow ;-)
-
Would love to see review on it and bench. Is it really identical to carbon, just add 0.40lb due to touch screen. Plus with the new X100 Sandisk added to it, how's the revised performance compared with the earlier 2012 version of X1 Carbon

I'm dying to know if the screen is matte or glossy and if its an IPS screen.

Hi Darkhan,
As you'd be one of the first to handle the X1C Touch, it would be great if you could give us an initial thumbs up or down before the 2nd of January. The reason being is that there is a great ThinkPad coupon/promotion going on that expires on the 1st of Jan. I'm sure many of us are on the fence in regards to which X1C touch to order. Does the touchscreen offset the the additional weight and size?
Thanks! -

Just waiting on UPS I am probably there last delivery scheduled for today lol

Not sure about their expedited shipping/easy-return offer, but Jan 1st is the end of their "New Year, New PC" which supposedly is offering 17% off their list price.
