Why I won't be buying from Lenovo Direct in the future! Although I've purchased a loptop from Lenovo Direct before (several years ago) my experience with an x200 order makes it clear to me that Lenovo is not only way below Dell in direct ordering but also totally screwed up! I'd read a number of msg. regarding delayed shipping and/or problems and delays getting thru customs so I was on guard when my scheduled ship date of 10/2 was approaching. Several days before the "estimated ship date" I asked my Lenovo sales contact to check on whether it would make it -- he came back with a vague statement about "running behind, probably slip several days" which bothered me but I continued to hope. Sure enough (like the experience of others on this forum) ON the date it was to have shipped, 10/2, around 4pm my time, a new "estimated ship date" appeared slipping the "estimated ship date" by more than 3 weeks. I decided that was too much, especially since there was no guarantee they'd make that date either. I notified my Lenovo sales guy to cancel the order - he responded that he would "send a cancellation request". Then I found an almost comparable package on TheNerds.net and ordered it, although it included an ultrabase so my price was ~$200 higher. That was last Friday. My new x200 arrived on Monday as expected and I'm enjoying it. On Monday, while learning my new x200 I was shocked to see my credit card had two mysterious charges from Lenovo -- one obviously for my ordered computer, but $17 more than price on my order and a second for $70+ with no explanation. I quickly checked the website where my Lenovo order is posted -- no change in price from what I'd ordered, but instead of the 10/20 "estimated ship date" it referred me to a tracking link -- in other words, they had shipped it -- checking the tracking I discovered it was already in Louisville, KY, awaiting customs, due to be delivered the following day (Tue) -- as with others' experience here, it flunked customs and went to Alaska, then back here (I'm in Pennsylvania) in time to arrive today (Wed)..... meanwhile when I challenged my Lenovo sales guy he excused the whole mess by saying that his request to cancel the order arrived in China after they shipped -- no kidding! He has yet to explain the price difference or the mysterious charge and when I looked at the packing list it says it was shipped on 9/30, BEFORE they changed the "estimated ship date" from 10/2 to 10/27. Obviously the right and left hand don't communicate! Long story but it has a point -- I don't trust Lenovo Direct period!!!

As a note to Bruce's experience. I ordered a Dell monitor a week before the x200. The monitor showed in stock, and ended up showing up 1 day before teh x200. Dell had ZERO info to give over the phone, they could only read the same status web page I could see. Once shipped they provided no tracking no. on the status page as they usually do.
So considering I had an order with each company. Had to call both to see what was going on etc. I'd still go Lenovo. -
so you're complaining because it shipped early...?
-
Read what he said...poor communication. He ended up getting two (2) x200 because he ordered from thenerds. He was concerned about the wait time which is why he called to cancel. IF they could tell him properly he would have not ordered from the nerds...
This has happened on a few occasions it seems. Your credit card should protect you though if you are returning the lenovo purchase (and you should be able to correct the charge too).
Sorry to hear about that. I just waited it out though. -
mine was ordered on 10/1 and was shipped today. i guess they got a new batch of 6-cell batteries.
-
Ordered mine on the 4th, estimated shipping date is the 20th. I really hope I'm one of the lucky ones that get theirs early.
Edit: Looks like they removed the x200 with the WWAN option. Hope that doesn't mean that the WWAN card is a major limiting factor, because I ordered an x200 with a WWAN card so that I would have GPS capabilities. -
Ordered three X200's on 9/29 and they were all received today, 10/8.
Ordered an X200s yesterday 10/7 and it is expected to ship out on 10/21, but experience tells me it will go out on 10/15. -
wow - ordered 9/29 and got a shipment notification today, was expected to ship 10/14, 6 days early
that just is exciting! will let you know the expected recieve date tomorrow! but my U330 was arrived in 2 days, so imagine friday -

Mine got stuck in Alaska with "SHIPMENT IS HELD TO VERIFY COMMODITY DESCRIPTION WITH THE CUSTOMER FOR CORRECT CLASSIFICATION", but that resolved itself in about four hours, and it's now in Kentucky, to be delivered tomorrow
-
Mine was supposed to be shipped 12/23, date then changed to 1/06/09, but it shipped on 12/26, is out for delivery on 12/30. I'm at work waiting, yay.
I've already played with 3 new t400's we've ordered, but this x200 is for me to carry so I can troubleshoot issues at all times (yay). I can't wait to play with somethign so small and powerfull. -

Hope it will come in today(which is the delivery date). -

I opted for the non-Multitouch screen, because I was concerned about undue fuzziness from the extra layer, plus I wasn't too keen about putting my greasy fingers all over the screen...
The processor is the SL9400 1.86GHz flavor. I went with the Vista Business / XP "downgrade" option. I got the Ultrabase with the DVD writer (was NOT willing to spring $500+ for Blu-ray). Oh, and I ordered an extra stylus...
Wish me luck!

What's the latest these days with Lenovo and X200s orders? I ordered last night, and the system shows shipping in 9 days. Is that still accurate? Are people getting their orders earlier or later than the estimates?
X200 - Have any shipped yet?
