How do you check the flight number of your order?

Goto UPS tracking number and look at the departure time from Shanghai.
Then you can do Flight checks on Google and it will show you all the flight that left from Shanghai to US at that time by UPS.

Just placed my order, key specs & my reasoning if you are interested
core i3-2310m (lack of turbo boost doesn't matter to me, any single thread application I use is unlikely to be CPU intensive)
IPS display 2x2 (IPS display is totally worth the money, went for the 2x2 wiring because i wanted the camera)
    720p camera (video chat!)
fingerprint reader (this is nifty. I had a toshiba with a biometric reader and it makes logins and password programs like keepass a lot easier)
250gb 5400rpm drive (I have a hard drive from my old laptop I'll be sticking in, so I don't care)
2gb ram (buying 2 gb more from newegg, much cheaper)
no bluetooth (can't remember the last time i used bluetooth devices)
thinkpad b/g/n (not if there's any difference between this and the intel wireless n-1000, so whatever)

The total amount for my order was $768.69, with expected ship date of 5/18. After tax it's $836.91.
I originally ordered a x120e for $435 (after tax), but after reading some more reviews on the e-350 I decided that I rather pay extra and get the core i3. (Plus I want the rubber finish and the biometric reader). I called and canceled the order yesterday, and ordered the x220 on the phone as well. Too bad I missed out on the lenovovip e-coupon because I had the x120e order active, could've saved an additional 5%.

I'm new to SSD's and just finalizing my order. What's the purpose of doing this instead of just getting a 128 or 160 GB SSD?

From Lenovo? You can save a lot of money by ordering a SSD from a third party like Newegg.

Don't worry too much. I to placed an order before some on this forum and they got theirs shipped before me.

I just went to the official order site and saw absolutely no movement but went to the IBM Order site right after and it shows shipped. No email notification at this time either. Can't tell why lenovo does it this way. Perhaps too much sake drinking over there.

No, I meant what's the purpose of using 2 SSDs, a 64 GB SSD boot drive and then another mini SSD, instead of just getting a larger capacity boot drive (from Newegg or whoever).

^ The Intel 80gb Mini-SSD is actually a very strong little drive. Benchmarks have shown it to be comparable with G2 X25-M SSDs.

I want the additional storage space of the 80gb Intel SSD. Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit installed along with the business apps I run will put the 25E at 50% capacity.

So the additional Mini-SSD drive is for additional programs and storage, besides the X25-E is still a extremely strong performer and is based on SLC flash memory.

Some actual data on the performance claims i've made for the Intel 310 Soda Creek 80gb Mini-SSD drive...

UPS has a hub in Shanghai, with regularly scheduled flights to anchorage and then continuing to Louisville (the main hub in US).

You would think UPS would drop off all of the west coast shipments in Anchorage to save on fuel cost.

So at what point should I stop checking the status for the weekend.

    I'm still "In-Process" ordered on 4/20 got x220 w/ i7+2gb+250+FP+6250+BT+720p+IPS

I'm in NY so I expect it to take the full 5 business days for UPS to get it to me.

    Thoughts?

I just spoke with Lenovo about my order not shipping yet, and apparently there is a "supply constraint" on the 9 cell batteries (which is strange because I assume some of you ordered yours with the 9 cell). They said it isn't expected to be in stock till the 15th or 16th of May.

    :(

Yeah, I'm pissed, especially because I ordered on the 20th. I'm happy for and jealous of those of you who ordered later and had your orders ship already. I don't really want to reorder, especially since I got a slightly cheaper price (by a few dollars) somehow than even the student pricing + VIP coupon. And, I want the extra battery life.

I guess I'll limp by on my x41t (which is slow as hell) for a while longer. My x200s was stolen about a month and a half ago, so waiting a bit longer isn't that bad. Maybe I can somehow talk my way into getting an upgrade to expedited shipping for free.

For what its worth if I could I'd give up my 9 Cell for someone who was inline before me I would, doesn't really seem fair.

^First I've heard about this supply constraint.

I spoke to them twice today and neither CSR mentioned that. They just gave the usual BS line that the order's been given to the warehouse and it will ship by 5/4. Looks like I'll be cancelling my order on Monday. I'm going out of country for 2 weeks on the 11th and needed the X220 for it. They keep reassuring me that it'll get here before the 11th but that's pretty much an impossibility given it's coming from Asia. They did ship me my 12W sleeve which doesn't look sized correctly at all but who knows.

This is the 2nd time Lenovo's wonky supply chain has thrown me off buying from them. Ordered a T410 last year near Chinese New Year's and delivery stretched to a just shy of 2 months from from 2 weeks. Semester would have been over by its April ship date. I should know better than to order a computer on launch day from them ever again. Wasn't looking forward to having to crack my OCZ Vertex 2. Guess it's over to Microcenter to pick up a 13" MBP that at least I can resell w/ the quickness.

I just refreshed the IBM status page and it has a tracking number

I ordered a 9-cell battery too, and I just saw that its shipping. So hopefully you'll get yours in the first batch of shipments rather then having to wait for the next batch.

It sucks that its either going to be 1 week or 3+ weeks.

It's also very strange. I changed my configuration almost immediately after my first order (somehow it switched itself from a 2520 to a 2540), and on the IBM page for my order number, it lists both the canceled one (and the cancellation date keeps updating itself to today's date) and the one that's still "scheduled to ship." Maybe something's funky with the cancellation process, which is crowding out my original order?

the cancellation takes 48 hours to process, and that's only business days so it takes longer on weekends. Also, the other thing is that lenovo doesn't charge you until the laptop is actually delivered so if you cancelled right away you generally don't have to worry about them shipping two out and charging you twice.
My order's estimated ship date is 5/18, but I modified my order today so it'll probably be delayed until the week after that, which means 5/23.

UPS has a hub in China, and a regularly scheduled flights.
If it ships on the 4th from Shanghai to AK - Louisville-; you will have it by 9th or 10th. depending on your shipping.

It's only a 8.5 hr flt from China to Ak, 5.3 hrs from ak - KY

A low supply of 9 cell batteries makes some sense if you consider that Lenovo has doubled the price of the upgrade from $10 to $20 (update: $30). I might consider calling on Monday and request expedited shipping if the delay is that long.

Sadly, I ordered April 20th with a 9 cell and still have an estimated ship date of 5/12.

edit: I just checked the website, the 9 cell upgrade is $30.

    For what it's worth, I ordered an x220 w/a 9-cell on 4/21, shipped on 4/27.

Also, as someone posted above, shipping from China is fast. UPS guarantees delivery within 5 business days from China.

I chatted with a rep and he claimed that ANY change to an order (including changing shipping) puts you at the back of the queue, so he said it wasn't worth it changing the shipping. Anyone know if this is true?

That may be the case but if I'm not mistaken they are on holiday May 1/2 (International Worker's Day) so no production till May 3 most likely and a May 4 shipment puts it right at the 10th for 5 business days door to door. I'm still holding out hope but it's a very narrow window even though I'm in UPS country (Atlanta, GA) and I paid the $25 shipping upgrade. If I had known they weren't going to start building anything for more than 10 days, I would have bought off the rack IPS be damned.

If there's no news by Tuesday, it may already be too late for me to get a fresh battery for my T400. The current 9 cell gets ~3-4hrs and given I'll be on planes for 30+ hrs over the next 2 wks, I need a wee bit more juice. That and it's a work machine w/ a locked BIOS and Windows XP so not really what I want to bring along.

BTW, I do find some irony in the Ideapad Mother's Day banner ads Lenovo is putting up despite not having any machines that would ship till well after then.

Well, you're definitely cutting it close. If they said it would ship by may 4, that leaves 5 business days till the 11th. Presumably you would get it the day you leave at the latest, hopefully before you leave for your flight : p

You said you added a shipping upgrade though? With 2 or 3 day shipping you should be fine.
