Which screws do you mean? The ones on the bottom side of the case?

In the hardware manual of Y50, I am sure they have the info of screws they use.

Go to any laptop repair shop and you will be able to get them.

I recently installed the B156HAN01.2 on my Y50. When i view black grey screens the corners of my screen appear lighter in color. I know this is caused my pressure so i loosened some of the screws and nothing changed. I believe it is because the frame on the screen is pushing harder in the corner. Is there a way to fix this?

Also im not sure if this was said before in the form but if you go into your display settings and change the dpi so text is smaller it gets rid of the clouded text, its a windows 8 bug.

I have also ordered the same screen and now I am worried too.

If the pressure is from the bezel, shouldn't you tighten the screws then ?

When I purchased my B156HAN01.2 from lcdtech889 was told it's only available in a matte finish. I use mine only indoors and the colors look absolutely gorgeous. Even though the glossy version would offer a slightly better color reproduction, the matte version is still an excellent buy, & the glossy versions are aslo very hard to find.

BTW no ghosting on mine nor any dead pixels ( 2 weeks usage so far). Highly recommend you new buyers to check lcdtech889.

There was some strange burn in the first day I installed. However since I watched a lot of youtube and played Titanfall, each portion of the screen pixels were changing so the burn in image was not apparent. No issues so far.

My only gripe is that the corners of the screen are "lighter" specifically the top left and right corners. You only notice this if you have a totally black image and I believe this may be because of the plastic panel pressing unto the LCD. Hopefully it will go away in time. My new screen is just days old so I'm waiting for others who have done this before to confirm if it does go away.

Yes. I had a samsung monitor for 2 months ago and I had no problems with it using it 2+ hours, but with this screen I can't stand more than 30 min. I have to take breaks. Hurts.

Ordered mine from them too. It shipped overnight since I live in Lewisville and it comes from Plano like 20min away. Gonna put her in along with my new Samsung 256 evo tonight and win-7. My y50 is the i7 4710 model, was on sale at Newegg for 999. Add the ssd and screen my total is 1225. Not bad.

We have the exact same model, from the same retailer, on the same 999 sale (with the 5000 newegg points), and the same upgrades except I bought a LG screen from lcdtech889 yesterday. The samsung evo rocks in this machine, good luck with your screen swap!

Good taste :p I have the EVO 256 in my gaming rig as well and love it. I did put a 128 regular 840 I had laying around in, but it's just not enough space. Crossing my fingers this screen has no dead pixels. I'm ocd about it.

EDIT: Got my screen installed, it was cake thanks to that great video. This thing looks soooooo much better. No dead pixels and only minimal light bleed at the corners due to the bezel. If I pull back on it a little it goes away. No biggie. Re-installing win-7 now on my 840 evo.

quick question. When I order the B156HAN01.2 from lcdtech889, do I need to specify anything when I order the screen from them? There aren't going to be different pin sizes or anything will there?

Anyone tried UHD -> FHD ? I'd like to know if I have to return (or not) my laptop and get one FHD to make the replacement.

It's frustrating + annoying this problem with color (mustard yellow), and make no sense to pay for UHD and use it at FHD

Has anyone on here played a fast paced FPS on the AO BHAN01.2? I'm worried about switching out the screen to something with a much worse response time.

The chi-mei tn panel that is included is remarkably fast, it's almost like playing on a CRT TV or monitor. I'm installing an LG ips screen today with a 35ms! response time compared to the bhan01.2's 25ms. I am extremely sensitive to lag since I am an avid quake 3 player and I will report my findings.

I like how you asked about fast paced fps's. It's the right question and kinda shows you have felt input lag and know how to indentify it. Most people, like those who say the 4k model is good for fps's don't.

I agree and I'm glad you understand where I'm coming from. I play CS and response time and refresh rate are both very important. Almost all of the panels have a 60hz refresh rate, but response times vary widely. The Chi-mei panel is only 3ms, that's honestly the best thing about it. I've got the 25ms AUO replacement panel but I haven't installed it yet. Currently, the best replacement panel for the Y50 is the Samsung LTN156HL01-101. It's PLS panel with a 16ms response time, which is still pretty slow, but over twice as fast as the LG. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the Samsung in stock anywhere. I hope there's another low latency IPS panel that comes out in the future... otherwise it's an external screen for me.

I'm interested to hear how your frag session goes!

My LP156WF4(SP)(B1) arrived today and I now have about 2 hours of gaming on it. Thankfully, I am not noticing any additional input lag. The slow response time does result in a bit more motion blur than the stock tn panel. It makes it slightly harder to track a fast moving target. Maybe a decent comparison would be if you played at 50hz refresh rate. It's also a bit harder to spot a target if you're moving your mouse quickly and they are still. Fortunately there definitely isn't an added 30ms or so of latency like I was worried about, that would be unusable for me. Everything does look much better on this screen and I am very pleased that it still feels just as responsive. Very happy gaming capability wasn't sacrificed too much considering how nice it is to look at now. Hope this helps some.

I have to disagree with you on the "remarkably fast, it's almost like playing on a CRT TV or monitor" point. I feel pretty limited when playing with that screen versus playing on the screen connected to my desktop. Try 120hz with Lightboost (backlight strobed in time with the refresh rate, removing almost all blur caused by pixel transitions). Go to testufo.com and see for yourself. With the laptop (and most screens), you'll notice that the UFO thingy is pretty blurred. Once you see it with a monitor like the one I'm talking about, you'll notice there is no blur. Elimination of said blur would be much more beneficial than only a low response time.

The response time of the brain matters much more than the response time of the monitor when you're talking about such small values. If you give your brain more information to process then you can make better decisions more quickly. By showing twice as many frames and eliminating the blur, the information is much more accurate thus eliminating the information bottleneck. Not many people think of that kind of bottleneck. :)

I should've been more clear in stating how responsive it is ie. What I meant is that the stock panel seems to have almost no INPUT LAG. Input lag is not the same as response time. A monitor that lists 5ms response time doesn't mean it only has 5ms of input lag. Response time is simply the time it takes for a pixel to go from white to black, and then white again. It has nothing to do with input lag. Usually manufacturers don't state input lag, generally people have to test them to find out. A CRT monitor has 0ms of input lag and the stock TN panel feels very low.

In that case, I agree :) The Chi Mei panel seems to have less input lag than a lot of the others I've seen. I just replaced my screen and from what I can tell, this one has only very slightly more input lag.

Just replaced my Chi Mei screen with the B156HAN1.2. Bought it on Ali Express for $71.35, all I had to do was specify that I wanted this panel exactly and I got it :D (although it for some reason took a week to get processed through China, then ended up in NY on the 13th and only arrived on my doorstep today. Gotta love USPS :/

Anyway, this panel is awesome. So much better than stock. I think it actually can get both darker and brighter than the original screen too. With the old one, I always had to have it at its highest brightness setting or one below for most situations. With this one, it seems like I can set it to a much lower brightness level and it doesn't bug me near as much as the stock did.

Just replaced my Chi Mei as well with the B156HAN1.2 and words don't express how amazing this screen is over the old one. This is the cheapest and best thing you could possibly do for this laptop. Like others, the Chi Mei was giving me headaches just looking at it. I could never find the sweet spot tilting the screen back and forth. With the B156HAN1.2, you would have a hard time not finding the sweet spot.

I'm sorry man, that really sucks :/

But hey, at least you didn't do what I did. I ordered a phone for a new plan (cost $400) and I made the mistake of not checking to see if it supports all of the radio bands necessary. I was able to get service for everything but data speeds higher than EDGE. So I had to shell out another $320 to get the right version of the phone (which isn't being made anymore so I got a store display model (this was the LG G2)). I then shipped the International version of the phone back and am waiting to see how much of a loss I took...

Hey guys. I made an account on this forum so I could post here, since this thread has helped me out IMMENSELY. I just replaced the screen on my new Y50 with a B156HAN01.2 after about two weeks with the stock screen. The difference was night and day. Thanks to everyone who posted before me, you helped me out a lot. I'll include (hopefully) helpful links below.

Where I bought my screen: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FL3HKP4/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0
It SAYS they're selling B156HAN01.1's, but being a good little boy I messaged them to make sure. In reality they had B156HAN01.2's, matte finish. I bought one and was quite happy. I'd recommend messaging the seller just to double check what they're gonna give you, to avoid nasty surprises.

The video guide (praise be to its creator) I used to help me through the replacement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BqVuCKew1E

Still no fixes for the touch? My y50 with touch screen is already enroute via amazon, I had settled on the non touch but a buddy who uses windows 8 (I've never used it) assured me that it was designed for a touch screen so I got one. Trying to decide if I should even open the box or return it and get the non touch.

Getting my screen today from an Amazon seller. Sorry if this is obvious as the thread is so long, but is there any major issue with an LG LP156WF4-SPU1 vs the B156HAN01.1, etc? I don't game, just do a lot of video editing. Thanks for bearing with my first post!

    Hello guys

does anyone knows where can i get the exact specs of this panel ? LTN156HL01
as long as i could digging on google i could confirm only few things: this is Like IPS panel from samsug called "LPS" has 60% NTSC, 1:900 Contrast. to me the most impotent thing is how much respond times this panel has ? can any1 help me with that?

The B156HAN01.2 seems like very good ips panel, except the 25ms respond time ...
how much the 25ms i noticeable in fast FPS games ? is there any ghosting on regualr bases ? while browsing and watching movies?

please help me to decide :)

    thanks

Nope, completely different kind of video signal.

I got that panel put in my laptop not too long ago. I'll check it out in BF4 and Titanfall tomorrow while I'm at work and post about it then. In my personal experience, IPS or variants aren't really slower than TN-- at least, not that you can notice. The colors and viewing angles are definitely better though. Again, I'll check out performance in FPS games and let you know tomorrow.

I've done a video guide to replacing the display on the Y50!

Used a B156HAN01.2 and it is absolutely amazing (especially when compared to the stock display). Please skip towards the end of the video for some of the comparison shots.

Installed my B156HAN1.2 on Wednesday, it's a huge improvement over the stock display, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Hi guys, this is my first post here so for starters I'd like to thank the community for video guides and amount of research done to figure out compatible models for screen replacing. I'm looking forward to replacing this awful stock screen too with matte ips panel currently choosing between LP156WF4(SP)(D1) and B156HAN01.2. Could anyone who had those panels for a while already tell if their display quality remains the same and there are no issues? Someone here wrote about ghosting and bleeding on AUO models so it would be useful to get some statistics after 1-2 months of regular use.

I found the specs on the LTN156HL01 on Japanese and Chinese websites. It's a 16ms panel. Good luck finding one though, I haven't seen any in stock anywhere.

    another question:
is there any diff between "LTN156HL0" and "LTN156HL01 101" ?

    Thanks

Just had a quick chat with laptopscreen.com support via ticket system. While I was told that they don't stock B156HAN01.2 right now, the biggest surprise was to know that LP156WF4(SP)(D1) refers to TN display (matte panel with ID 884218, not compatible version). I know we have their representative here, though I couldn't pm him for some reason. LSB, could you please confirm these words? Is this panel actually TN?
