My y50 is unable to connect to the Internet, unless it's placed very close to the router, and even then the connection is very bad most of the time. I even have a wifi range extender, it does not connect to that either. Other devices connect fine with no problems. I have the y50 with the 7260 wireless card if it matters. Can't figure out a solution, anyone else have this problem?

Hi, I think you should head to thread about MSI GS60 which have this wireless card in every model and check out solutions there, because quite a lot of people were complaining there that Intel 7260 isn't working properly. Nobody knows exactly why and nearly everyone had different solution to a problem with it that worked. I'm not sure, but I think there is a separate thread on this forum which deals with Intel 7260, but I haven't read it so don't know what it actually contains. Good luck with it. :)

I've fixed it, the laptop had turned it off when I clicked on power saver mode. Thanks for telling me about the other threads, I wouldn't have figured it out myself. :)

Hey guys - thanks for the videos and additional info - that's exactly what we were looking for .. we need to reference solid information versus mass opinion. It really helps - if I am able to get an answer on this issue I will definitely pass along, but I'd say 50/50 chance due to just the lack of communication at Lenovo internally. But we'll give it a shot!

anyone have the information about the 4k having a touch function? I like the bezel-less screen on the y50 touch and hope the 4k will also have it because it looks totally elegant just like macbook pro

the sales reps are being incompetence in answering this question some of them said it will and some didn't even know

I stopped trying to find a fix. There's little or no way to get around the software locking it to 48 Hz. Now I'm just focusing on whether or not I want to live with it.

I think that's jumping the gun a bit - Lenovo would have no reason to want to "lock" the display to achieve worse performance - there is no advantage for them to do this. I still think it's simply a driver/software issue that just need to be fixed, UNLESS the display itself is incapable of higher than 48, which would be a bigger problem.

I ordered the most expensive 4k version from lenovo's website which initially says that the ship time is less than 3 weeks. However, the estimated arrival date for me is 42 days from the day I ordered... Is anyone else having a similar issue or is there a reason why the shipping would take so long? I tried emailing their customer support last week and earlier today but still no reply. :(

I finally bit the bullet this AM and ordered via KlickOnline. My delivery is estimated to be Wednesday ( two days). If you choose to go that route, I suggest you contact the rep directly ([email protected]).

At a minimum, tell Lenovo you don't like the ship time and would like to cancel, I imagine you could get additional discount, though it may or may not exceed the savings of KO...

Thats awesome, maybe I should. Did you purchase the 59421859 model? If the shipping time is drastically shorter I'll cancel my order with lenovo and go that route

I doubt you'll beat klicks price, especially considering the tax lenovo has which is like $80-100. Plus Brian has been nothing but helpful here :). Definitely ordering from them if this 48 hz thing is resolved. Crossing my fingers...

Klick pricing is much better for our American friends. Canadians are better off using a coupon and student pricing to achieve a better discount due to import fees.

Klickonline do you charge a restocking fee? I am on the edge of ordering and would have if it was not for this 48Hz issue. If there is no fix it seems from what everyone is saying here we would see a difference in FPS between 48 and 60Hz.

Klick does charge a restocking fee. If 48 hz and max 48 fps is something you are not willing to deal with I would hold off on purchasing

For Canadians, order directly from Lenovo using ebates, and there is also a $50 coupon floating around. Ebates will good you 5% cash back.

Yes - for Y50's we've currently been doing a $50 restocking fee (to help offset the difference between having to sell the used returned system versus a new one), and I don't expect that to go up anytime soon.

Nope, in my sager below, I've tried overclocking the refresh rate up to 90hz, its really smooth, but i have no use for it really and im scared of blowing up my gamut screen lol.

I'd say mine has a 90hz overclock limit, more than that i run into issues.

Xentar can you disable Optimus from BIOS or some other way and then try to get 60Hz on the display? Maybe you already tried. Just seems frustrating that there is no fix to this, most displays can easily run higher refresh rates than the set ones

There's no bios setting to disable Optimus on this laptop. It's funny... On the y500 and y510p I was pissed off because Optimus was disabled for SLI driver conflicts. Now I'm pissed that it's on.

well.. 48 fps is not too bad.. maybe it will be a smooth 48 fps gaming that wont affect other casual gaming laptop users.. it's just that personally i can feel the difference between 48 fps and 60 fps in Dota 2, which is the main game im playing..

Idoesn't matter, there's no strict definition for a gaming laptop anyways. Some won't consider gaming laptops exist at all, it's just pointless and redundant to debate over the term gaming laptop when it's not heavily defined
