Fear mongering? Bit of a stretch there.

If said employee were to take down my credit care info and buy a laptop I would promptly be alerted by my bank whom I would then contact and advise to cancel. Even if they somehow didn't manage to catch it, I would put a dispute in and have my money back in 15 minutes.

I took 255 theft reports this year. Yes I looked. Over a third involved paypal. And a lot of people never see their money back.

Why would you be nervous about klick? Multiple people got theirs. Lol. Don't make me the enemy for telling people to protect themselves and pointing out what I believe to be insecurities. If you want to direct your anger point it at lenovo for promoting a 4K laptop without the 4K. That's what bugging me mainly right now. The waiting game.

PayPal is perfectly fine, i've been using it for years. The ONLY reason im quoting this is because i loved how you said "And the guy who answered my emails initially was great." whenever i email Klick they have always replied in the most half assed response i have possibly ever gotten from a reseller.

Not hating on you at all Klick, i'm sure you get hundreds of emails a day but geeze if only you put as much effort into your emails as you do forum posts >.<

Those 255 theft reports are probably from unaware users who accidentally stumble upon a phishing website via email or other methods... or you know think password123 is a completely acceptable password to use for their bank/email/paypal/ebay password

Can you give some examples or PM or email me? I try to respond quickly and immediately to everyone and answer their questions directly. As you can imagine, I really don't have time to give a 3 sentence response if someone asks about a price, international shipping, etc. I haven't heard from you in regards to any complaints to the answers I've given, so I'm not sure what you mean and I'd like to know what responses were not up to your expectations? Yes I will answer a lot of emails with exactly the information the buyer is asking for without a lot of fluff - if someone asks about international shipping, I point them to the ebay listings .. if someone asks about price, I may just respond with the price. Most customers seem to prefer quick direct responses, versus delayed fluffy responses - at least from the feedback I've received..

I wasn't really complaining nor do i have complaints about it, his comment made me snicker is all. It's like you said " I try to respond quickly and immediately to everyone and answer their questions directly." the answers were just blunt one sentence responses. Which i completely understand of course, i mean im so close to buying this laptop and if i do it'll most likely be through you.

I'm stuck at the point of " do i want the base non touch because of the extra ram and vram + the ssd or do i want the base touchscreen model solely because people say it has a better display and because well... it's a touchscreen with the bezle underneath"

    1. 4k is optional is the first place anyways so why would you be angry at lenovo when they've already told you it's optional already?

    2. soon you'll have your posts deleted because of the amount of irrelevant stuff you are bringing to this thread. whether or not paypal is secure has nothing to do with y50. if you have any questions, go to paypal CS or a paypal forum and ask or complain as much as you want there, not here in a Y50 thread.

Hey I need a laptop for college and I've been most interested in the Y50. I'm planning to order it soon and was wondering if people were still having shipping issues through the Lenovo website. I would like to be able to order from the Lenovo website since there is the Barnes and Noble gold discount.

I'm also wondering how the MSI Apache Pro compares to the Y50 because I am still somewhat trying to decide between the two.

If you need the laptop for college, you'll get it in time regardless of where you order from.

Hey guys, just got my Lenovo Y50 today. Everything looks really good and performs well, but there is one problem that could get really annoying. Whenever I plug my headphones in the headphone jack, there is an audible, and decently loud, white noise that constantly plays at the same volume no matter what volume you are at. Does anyone know if there is a fix to this problem yet?

    Thanks

a few people reported this problem and the only solution I can see is probably just call lenovo and ask them to probably replace the headphone jack

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but if it's a problem for multiple people, i suspect that everyone has this problem because it may have something to do with electric interference from the motherboard on the headphone jack

that's one of the most likely cause or lenovo may just be using cheap/low quality headphone jacks. regardless I don't see it as something you can fix yourself and is probably under the warranty, so try calling lenovo, that's the best you can do right now :p

Thanks man, I'll probably call them tomorrow if I can't fix it tonight. I've also read that it might be a problem with the Realtek driver that is installed on the computer so hopefully that can be changed or something

Well I'm having a horrid time right now.
My laptop finally arrived and I installed mostly my basic files and programs.
For some reason I cannot update my drivers to 337.88, even after following all the instructions clearly multiple times along with the video.
So I just tried playing with the old drivers just to keep my frustration down and atm I only have minecraft installed cause it takes too long for the others to install ATM but I will install them tomorrow. However, only 30-40fps on less than demanding settings? I turned v-sync off and everything? I'm so confused on what's wrong. Was I supposed to do something with the drivers other than trying to update it to the 337.88 update?

A few times when i plug in my headphones the audio won't work. I then unplug then the sound comes out of the speakers. Had to restart to get it back.

As for white noise, it's very low to me. Once i play music or play a game i don't notice it at all.

Yes, several times. The weird thing is that the file you downloaded showed as a "Setup Information" file with mine only showed as a "text document" file even though it had the .inf extension. Even though I thought it was weird I put the downloaded NVLTi.inf file into the display.drivers folder where it was listed in your video and it didn't ask me to replace anything. There was actually two different files, the one I just put in there that says NVLTi.inf that lists itself as a text document folder and then a NVLTi file that lists itself as a "Setup information" file. I don't know if that is the cause of why I can't update, but I just removed the old NVLTi folder and left the downloaded NVLTi.inf file there and proceeded with exactly that forum post and what your video stated and it still doesn't update.

Also I don't get how on default these 332.50 drivers only run minecraft on very low settings at 30fps in the first place.

EDIT: Was I supposed to do something with the drivers when I got it? I guess currently I'm just using the pre-installed Nvidia drivers that were installed.

I never altered the 332.50 drivers at all. Just left them alone. The downloaded NVLTi.inf file should have replaced an older NVLTi.inf file. I looked at the older NLVTi.inf file just to see the difference from the old vs the modded inf file. If anything, delete the NVIDIA folder in your C folder that was created by the Nvidia installer in the first place. Then reinstall and have it put in the folders again.

You also mentioned a " old NVLTi folder". I didn't touch or see such a folder.

If someone with more expertise could shine some light on the matter, that would be great.

It's not just a headphone jack, it's an Audio Combo Jack (headphone and mic). If you plug in only a headphone plug, that plug shorts out the mic pickup, thereby creating the white noise. You should use a combo jack, and mute the mic in he software.

I finally fixed it, apparently when I downloaded it the file was actually NVLTi.inf.txt after I got windows 8.1 to show extensions. I removed the .txt and then everything worked like bee's video.

However, that did nothing for my minecraft. I still get like 30 fps ;-;. I also set it back to the gtx860m after doing the express installation. :(

Ohk, with no intentions to hijack the thread....
    Please hellppp:
I live in india, I am having this laptop imported from u.s.a via my cousin living there.. I right now am in a completely confused state... I have a budget of around 1320$ the two laptops I have finalized after much research are lenovo y50 ssd model I.e with 16gigs ram, intel 4700hq, 4gb 860m maxwell , 500gb ssd... and second is sager np8268s. . With intel 4810, 8gigs ram , nvidia 870m 6gb , 750gb 7200rpm drive (* I m planning to buy 120gb ssd aftermarket*) so basically sager is the more powerfull one here... but the only downside, sager services are not available in india ... so if any part blows off on early stages (*before 3 years *) I ll be doomed.... so what should I do? Take risk or sacrifice power?
lenovo services in india are good and as international warranty is available on y50, any problem , can thus be solved, but if , as I have heard, sagers last long, if w/o any hardware problem, sager manages to about 3-4 years, I will be happy..... please help me solve the confusion....

Hi.. I'm from India too.. Getting the y50 through someone...
Going for the y50.. 512gb ssd model... Coz you can avail international warranty...
While the sager model will leave you with almost no support at all...

Unless you need the 870m that badly... I'd say the y50 is a good buy :)

It's very much based on what you're gonna use the laptop for...

I haven't played minecraft in YEARS but i dont' remember it being graphically intensive. I don't have the game. 20 bucks?! screw that. Also , i made sure the 3d settings in the Nvidia Control Panel is set to "High Performance Nvidia Processor" for each game.

then i plan to use geforce experience to update my drivers from now on.

Haha well it's actually closer to 30 bucks and I got the game as a gift so meh haha.
I mostly play multiplayer serves but it shouldn't get that sucky of a framerate as my old 2010 macbook pro laptop can usually pull off 50-100 fps and it's actually much more smoother than the Y50. On the Y50 I can barely get 50 fps most of the time. I chose pretty low settings as well, which is really weird.

I got the Y50 on Monday as well and everything seems to be working fine except for a simple game like minecraft.
In multiplayer games especially on minecraft, my fps won't go above 50s, and I also turned V-sync and stuff like that off.

I also used the High performance NVIDIA processor for minecraft under the nvidia control panal, which I believe is correct but instead of something simple like borderlands2 its like c:\users\nameofaccount\desktop\minecraft...
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's very stressful that this computer can run high graphics games but not minecraft :/.

I just purchased the base model from Klick.

Pretty excited since it is the first laptop purchase since my Alienware M11x R2 (My college laptop).

Going from a 11" screen to a 15.6" screen is going to be great, and I am no longer in school so dragging it from class to class will no longer be an issue.

I'll give some kind of review when I receive it and get to play around with it a bit.

I am going to be installing a 840 pro 512g right away when I get it.

Does anybody know if a microphone/headphone splitter will solve the problem of white noise in my headphones when I plug them into this laptop? I know my headphones aren't the problem because they work well on everything else.

its been fun following this thread lots of speculation went on etc

i hope lenovo learned from this that if they got their logistics and information right they could've earned a huge profit by selling this lovely thin one-and-only-for-its-price 860m gaming laptop

i personally am waiting for the 4k version but asus-line laptops are starting to grow on me especially because they offer ips screens

since tn screens are a deal breaker for me i didnt pull the trigger on the y50 yet, might pull it on the 4k if its ips

for all those who already own the y50 i am jealous keep on gaming hard and heat them internals up! (till 75 degrees of course)

    peace
