We have previously determined, in this very thread, that the Y2P and the Samsung ultrabook have the exact same screen, and the Samsung does not suffer from the "yellow issue." This clearly indicates there is no hardware issue, just an issue of how the software handles the hardware. I think you should do your research before you start calling Lenovo names...

@ brodie,
Anyone in this day and age who refers to anyone as "a bunch of retards" clearly is not operating at a high intellectual level. My guess is he does not own a Yoga 2 Pro nor does he possess the financial resources necessary to own one should he want to.
He is a troll, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.brodie4416 likes this. -
Some of You mentioned, that an install of the Yoga 13 touchpad driver improves the touchpad performance. Did You install the newer driver of Oct 22, 2013? When I download it, it says "The signature of this program is corrupt or invalid", but this can be bypassed. When an installation starts, it gives "An error occured while trying to copy file: The source file is corrupted" on most of the files being installed. Did You have these issues as well? How did You bypass them? Thanks

I'm really pleased about potential solution to yellowgate. Unfortunately, I'm shipping my Y2P off to their repair center for probably a couple weeks to fix the strange grinding noise that started to occur a couple days ago
so it'll be awhile before I can test out the fix.
I'm trying to stay enthusiastic about this machine. I really only ever noticed the "yellow issue" (and only after reading about it), but it's unacceptable to be hearing grinding noises from within after less than a month of use. That plus I know there are a myriad of other issues plaguing other early adopters....just kind of makes me wonder. Such a shame though, for such a gorgeous and versatile machine. -
Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but here is the first official full review of the Y2P by a reputable site:

With the semi-yellow fix Mark from Lenovo mentions, I'm glad I bought this machine.187, ferrydust and josetheman37 like this. -
Same power plug with ground on mine as well that arrived today. Been using it for about four hours so far, no issues and is charging fine. -

I'm not surprised at all that CNET gave the Y2PRO an editor's choice award. It's such a great piece of hardware at a price point that none of the other manufacturers can offer. It's pretty much a runaway hit.
-
I don't know why CNET is comparing the MBP to the Y2PRO, since the MBP uses a higher voltage processor and the Y2PRO only uses an ULV processor no? I don't think that this is a fair comparison.

From his carefully chosen words the fix must be a fw adjustment for the panel itself which adjusts the power input during battery mode. This IMHO can only result in higher power consumption during battery mode operation. I will wait and see what actually occurs. I will be absolutely amazed/shocked if lenovo's fix has no impact on battery life.
There is info here on the technology behind RGBW pentile displays.
Here is an important quote
Unlike RGB stripe, PenTile RGBW displays have flexible configuration settings that tune color saturation, brightness, image sharpness, and power consumption. Adjustment settings can be defaults, user-defined, or dynamically changed, so users always experience the most appropriate balance of color reproduction and power savings for their content, device, or remaining battery life.
Given this statement and the emphasis on balance of color reproduction and power savings(note the relationship is linked between the two) I am not sure how Lenovo can change the technology inherent in the rgbw panel without a power adjustment override to get the color(yellow) fix. Possibly the power supplied to the r g or b may be adjusted to get the fix or balance right.
If this is the case then it will be a brilliant fix for the panel itself in low power mode(battery). Let's see what they do next week.

Hi! Lots of information on this thread and some of it pretty good. I am located in Canada and thought I would head over to Futureshop or Bestbuy and purchase a Lenova Yoga 2. So I bought the Yoga 2 with the i5, 8Gb mem and 128gb hard drive. My biggest concern was the keyboard. Looking at the box cover, the picture showed a larger shift key on the left and that is what I use a lot of for speed typing. Was excited the keyboard was going to be different then the first gen of yoga.
Anyway, for those in Canada, the picture on the box of the keyboard is not what you will get. Inside the box is a keyboard with a small key for shift both left and right. Why? In Canada they are producing the Yoga 2 Pro with only a Bilingual keyboard.
Contacted Lenovo Canada and they confirmed, "If you are in Canada you get only a bilingual keyboaed, if you want the English one, you have to have a US credit card and shipping address to order through the US". There is no customizing this unit at all when you prurchase.
Well, I was very exciterd and now I have to say that I am very dismayed. I really wanted the one with just English as that is all that I use.
Just thought I would share that. There are those on here that had a problem with the shift key being to small on the right side. It is even worse on the bilingual keyboard.I posted a pic so you know what I was talking about.

If you are a speed typist why do you care how big the shift button it? You hit all of the other buttons without any problems? Shift is just another letter.

I bought from futureshop online and I didn't get a bilingual keyboard like you are describing.

I received this email today regarding my y2p purchase
"Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for your recent Lenovo purchase. Unfortunately due to overwhelming demand,
we are experiencing delays in processing shipments of your system. We are making every
effort to fulfill your order."
Strange part is the shipping date is still the same on my order status, but that email seems ominous. Anyone else receive an email like that? -
Finally got a chance to try out the Vaio Flip which I always saw as the only major competition to the Yoga 2 Pro. Some observations:
1) It is made of quality materials but something about it just feels cheap.
2) It has quite sharp edges.
3) When in laptop mode you are limited to a pretty steep screen angle, especially if you are sitting in bed and the laptop is lower than desktop level.
4) The screen flip mechanism works well but it just doesn't have the sophistication of the Y2P.
5) The pen works quite well (the glaring miss on the Y2P).
6) The screen is fine for 1080p, but once you have experienced 3200 x 1800 everything else looks like crap by comparison.
I made the right call in buying the Y2P. In addition to match these specs would have cost me $300 more with the Sony.josetheman37 likes this. -
Quick question for Canadians who got the Yoga 2 Pro through the Lenovo EPP - does it come with one of those irritating bilingual keyboards? I want to be sure I don't get stuck with something like that before dropping money.
Edit: Question answered - it does. Damnit. -

I finally got my beautiful Clementine i5 256 8GB model!
I haven't had any time to do anything except update.
What do you guys recommend I do from the get go? I follow this thread, but will be a little rough to find all the great post littered throughout...
I also am pretty sure I want to upgrade the WiFi to the AC model...anyone that has done it have any issues so far?
I can't wait for the color fix, esp since I will be using this baby for laying in bed and doing photo editing (but it does surprise me how great the screen looks regardless)
P.S. A coincidence?... my desktop rig completely went to crap on me just yesterday, will have to re-install Windows, which was a long time coming anyway...)

VERY frustrating but at least it's a quick fix to just disable and re-enable the wireless. I still have a long time before my return window is up as I'm an Elite Plus member for Best Buy and have only had it for 10 days. I'm hoping it settles out because I'm finally finding the workarounds I need to overcome the scaling issues that made it difficult to do my job. I love this thing and am totally happy with switching back to Windows after over 4 years on my MacBook Pros, and would prefer to keep it since nothing else seems to compare... -
Not sure if this has been posted somewhere, but the energy manager and BIOS update are available here:
Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro
I can confirm on mine that they work. There appears to be a brief time on startup where yellows are still dark, and then it magically fixes itself.Led Zappa, shakermaker41, OldenSlow and 1 other person like this. -

Has anyone connected their Y2P to an external monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution? Most hi res monitors require dual-link DVI input, but I've seen some that are compatible with HDMI 1.4 (whatever the heck that is).
Sorry if this topic has already been discussed. I searched for "monitor" but got no results.
Thanks,

Yellow issue seems to be entirely fixed with that update. The yellow may still be slightly greenish (as in the ATIV 9 Plus), but it looks as good or better than high performance yellow on all modes but the most extreme power-saving one ("stable mode"). Here's another photo of the clementine in case anyone's interested. The lighting is pretty bad, but it looks awesome in person.

That is a nice looking notebook. Wish I had options when I got mine almost a month ago
Still having an issue with my right cooling fan. It's making a buzzing noise, is this a common issue? I've seen it mentioned a few times and wondering if I should replace it. I'd hate to have to wipe it clean and transfer all my data to a new one and have the same problem after a few weeks.
Has anyone had it correct it self and go back to normal fan noise? Maybe it's just me but the buzzing doesn't seem as loud as it was a few days ago. -
-
So is the yellow issue finally fixed on power supply /battery?
-
Lenovo just uploaded their BIOS update to fix the yellow problem:
BIOS Update & Lenovo Energy Management for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) - Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro
Make sure you install the Energy Manager update after updating the BIOS. Also, this turns on auto-brightness by default which makes your screen too dark. I recommend turning that off in Power Settings.ferrydust likes this. -
The fix seems to have worked for me as well. Watching an episode of Simpsons doesn't look weird anymore.

So is there an improvement on power v battery?

Updated the power manager and bios, and now for the first time I hear my fans when it's sitting idle with nothing running but the OS. I'll have to do some digging around to see why suddenly it needs to run them high enough to hear in my office, when they never fired up the last 11 days here previously.

Anyway, I called up their technical support center and they had me send it in. It was very painless, everything was paid for. Of course I'll be without my computer for a couple of weeks, but I will not accept this issue on an almost brand-new computer. -
According to this review ( Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Review | Ubergizmo, (before the color fix) :
"One of the first tests we perform is a simple local video test, which involves us playing a 1080p video stored locally on the ultrabooks hard drive for a total of one hour. For our test, we keep the displays brightness down to 50% of its full potential, in this case, 175 nits, as well as keep the Wi-Fi turned on. After our test was complete, we noticed a drop of battery life by 14%, which means under these circumstances, you can expect a little over seven hours of battery life.
Streaming videos on our computers has become extremely popular these days, which means youre probably going to want to know just how much juice you can expect out of a machine after watching some videos online. For this test, we stream a YouTube video set at 1080p for an hour, once again keeping the screens brightness to 175 nits, or 50%, while keeping the Wi-Fi on. At the end of our test, we noticed a drop of 16%, which means under these circumstances, you can expect a little over six hours of battery life."
Could it be that after the updates, adaptive brightness is being set on automatically to make up for any loss in battery life that this update may caused? We really need a test to know for sure.
One of the main reason I would pay top dollar for a Haswell Ultrabook is how many more hours of battery life it will give, in comparison to an ultrabook with ivy bridge.
If color rendering and battery life are good, I will buy the yoga. On that note, do you guys think that this beauty will be at a better price in the near future, say Black Friday, or between then and right before the Holidays, or after Christmas?tron2^, ferrydust and josetheman37 like this.
