OK, let's get totally weird here and see if anyone else can duplicate this.

When I'm at 3200x1800 I have a very defined rectangular area of my screen where right click will NOT work, period. When I'm at 1920x1080 it's fine. When I'm at 3200x1800 with the default scaling, it's fine. But when I'm at 3200x1800 with everything set to just 100%, it's there, consistently.

Picture the screen divided four ways, split in the middle left to right and top to bottom, leaving us with four quadrants, 1 being top left, 2 top right, 3 bottom left, 4 bottom right. Now, picture in quadrant 1, the bottom right quarter of that or so. So just to the left of the middle of the screen, starting about just to the bottom of the top half of the screen. I have a roughly rectangular area there that's about 2 inches by 2.5 inches or so (longer edge is vertical) that the right click simply will not function when I'm doing normal scaling. Change scaling to 200%, right click in that area works fine. Change scaling back to 100%, and right click fails to work but ONLY in that clearly defined area. I can duplicate this at will.

    Anyone else?

Have you tried Royal TS? Royal TS > Download

I also loved CORD on the Mac and ended up trying Royal TS since I had to switch back and forth between Mac and Windows computers for work. I loved it so much that I ended up replacing CORD on my Mac with Royal TSX (their OSX version). I briefly tested it on my Yoga 2 Pro, since I also do a ton of RDP and it seemed to scale well.

Edit: Sorry if that suggestion has already been posted before...

Thanks for this. Sitting at home just now I noticed this flickering for the first time despite having the ambient sensor turned off. It's right where you said it was on the Yoga 2 as well and so far that seems to have stopped the annoying flickering. I appreciate the tip!

Very informative thread. I just decided to pull the trigger on a Y2P and the Best Buy website now says they are unavailable, for shipping AND store pickup. What the heck?

I hear ya, and whether something looks fine or not is certainly subjective, but I'll just say that it is a *fact* that text is not as crisp in this resolution. It just doesn't bother you (and apparently a bunch of other folks) like it does me.

I'm keeping an eye on the thinkpad, but the extra weight kinda sucks.

Did you install the BIOS update BTW? Someone told me that this fix won't help after the BIOS update, but I can't verify that yet. I'm glad it helped you! I got the tip from a member of the Lenovo forums.

Took mine down to 100% in 3200 x 1800 and right clicked all over the screen with no issues. Too old to have it at 100% so it is always at 200%.

The Thinkpad Yoga is actually .42 lbs heavier (190 grams or so). Which in real world isn't that much but in terms of a laptop it is noticeable.

I think it is more a "covering of bases" since not enough is known about these processors yet. And a number of people in this forum are not as computer literate or know just enough to be dangerous (I'm told this is the category I fall into :D - I think it is really that I know enough to call them on their BS :p) so I try to provide enough info to be informative without those who know a lot more telling me to go away. So I won't beat down your theory.

I'm angry at Y2P for introducing me to 3200 x 1800 resolution. I used to be perfectly happy with 1080p and now it's not enough. I am so hooked I am willing to put up with microscopic 1 pt fonts in Photoshop just to max the res. Now I go to Bestbuy and look at the 1080p laptops and they look like crap to me. Every jagged pixel is like an insult to my eyes.

Damn you Y2P you rapturously beautiful temptress. Innocence lost.

BTW has anyone figured out how to solve the microscopic font problem in Adobe products? Considering so many artists are going to qHD screens I am quite surprised Adobe has their font sizes hardwired for 1080p.

I played with the thinkpad last week at It Nation and it seemed sturdy and not too much heavier. I did like the way the keyboard surround raises around the keys.

I thought this would solve it too, but mine is has these settings yet I feel it's still dimmer than it was before.. And the screen, though beautiful with great viewing angles, is very glossy/shiny/reflective, which I really wish I could brighten through now.

In the Lenovo Energy Manager settings, there is an option for Express Charging which will fully charge the battery in 100 minutes. Question - if I used this as my regular setting, would it over time impact the life span of the battery? My guess is that it could but in doing some google searching I've not found an answer and actually did not come across a single comment (other than this forum) regarding Express Charging.

LOL! Are you and this guy who commented on the Engadget review related??

    From User Comments:
"The screen is just...gooey, delicious, warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream goodness. After using this screen for a month now...I could never go back to anything with lower res. Not even 1080p. It's just super crispy crisp, "

Has anyone been able to figure out how to fix the brightness of the keyboard backlighting? I am referring to certain letters having much brighter backlighting. I never would have noticed if not discussed here before but now I see it constantly.

I am actually on my second Yoga2 as the first had a physical problem with the touchpad. The first was perfect, except for the touchpad not working consistently. The second, has the keyboard backlight issue and the screen has the light bleed in the bottom corners that was not present in the first. The first would light up fairly evenly across the whole screen. The second one has the bottom corners much brighter when the screen on is but blank.

My understanding is YES. The HTC One does not allow express charging for just this reason, since it is not user replaceable. There is also a Battery Conservation mode since it should not stay fully charged at all times if you have yours on AC 90% of the time like I do. This charges it to a max of 60%.

According to the parts list the drive is either a Toshiba THNSNH drive or a Samsung PM841. I believe these are simply mSATA drives and not pcie ones. There are several reviews available that measure the performance if you google either one.

I look into this once, but I don remember if it was regarding lithium ion or lithium polymer (like the one in the Y2P) batteries.
It may be the same for both types. AFAIK, without getting into the technical details,
and to make it short. Express charge will, over time, increase the wear on the battery and diminish its capacity.
I would recommend sticking with the standard charge rate and only use express if you really need to charge you battery that quickly.

So, are you saying that I don't need to do anything with my new Yoga 2 Pro that arrived yesterday?

I thought there was some sort of setting that needed to be changed in order to improve the color? Does that not need to be done? If it does need to be done - what is it that I need to do?

Also I say some mention of a BIOS update or energy management update? Do those not need to be done? If they do, what do I need to do?

Just FYI for those that have one of the lemons. I was issued a replacement as of the end of October and came to find my replacement wouldnt even ship until the end of December. This is completely unacceptable and shoddy customer service by Lenovo and everyone should be made aware of it. I've spoken to customer service and they basically said I'm SOL because my replacement was simply placed into the general delayed qeue (which makes no sense). Being expected to wait multiple months because of Lenovo's mistake while they fill more orders is a blatant disregard for exisitng customers and Lenovo should be ashamed.

Can I ask what issue you had? I just sent mine in for repair due to a strange grinding noise inside. It's supposed to come back later this week or early next, and I'm really nervous that I'm going to turn it on and the noise will still be there OR after another month of use the noise will come back. I've never had to send in a PC for repair before so this is new to me.

But I'm curious what issue you had and what you did to get a replacement? Was it as easy as calling them up, explaining the issue and asking for a new one?

I uninstalled some apps that I don't plan to use and looked in msconfig to disable certain lenovo services on startup, but was not sure if anything other than phone companion and photo could be unchecked. Thoughts/comments?

I went to BB today to buy this and judge for myself the effectiveness of the fix for the yellow. If fixed, I was going home with one. The updates had not been installed, but the salesman was nice enough to install both updates. The fix marginally improves the yellow in MS Paint but it still has too much of a green tint for me to call it a fix. I won't be buying this. The Yoga 2 is not much useless if you don't plan on doing any photo editing or anything else that requires color accuracy.

When in other modes flickering is only seen under very low brightness and is much smaller compared to the other two modes, in the battery and stable modes the flickering is much stronger, especially after some time of inactivity. Flickering is not noticable when the brightness is quite high (>50%) in any mode. Only under low lighting.. it does seem to vary depending on the content... and happens no matter whether plugged or on battery.

It makes sense to me that it would cause additional wear on the battery so thank you for confirming. I am torn on the Conservation Mode (I agree with the reasoning) only because when I unplug I may not have enough advance notice to turn off Conservation Mode and let it get to full charge. I am plugged in probably 80-90% of the time so I guess it is a matter of weighing the pluses and negatives. Considering that the battery is not "user-replaceable" I guess I better toggle that button to on.

LOL!! Well I agree with both of you! I switch between my 17" HP (with 1600 x 900) and the Y2P as I've not moved everything over to the Y2P (archive stuff I don't want on it mostly) and it is such a difference. The HP screen is nice and big but it just doesn't have the detail and sharpness on the text I've come to love on the Y2P. I tried watching a DVD movie on both and the level of detail on the Y2P just blows the HP out of the water.

I've had my Y2P a week now. I am an amateur photographer so photo editing for color balance, contrast and saturation is extremely important to me. Having said that, no, I have NOT installed the BIOS and Energy Manager updates, nor do I intend to bother doing so. I would never expect to use a laptop (ANY laptop, Mac included) for photo editing. That is serious desktop work with a good, calibrated monitor, not a laptop touch screen.

The laptop is mostly used by my wife to replace a Dell that is dying of multiple hardware failures. I have not mentioned any of the nitpicking complaints that some have seemed determined to keep on the burner. But my wife has been looking at hundreds of my photos and doing her usual internet surfing and other work. She has never once mentioned color issues. If you aren't looking at lemons, dandelions and the BestBuy web site, you'll never see bright yellow on-screen anyway, so keep your brightness down and save your battery.

Speaking of which, I'm getting a bit more battery life now than a week ago. I'd estimate around 7 hour, although we almost never use the Y2P off of AC power. i7/8GB/256SSD

I love it. The only complaint my wife has is that the font sizes are so small on some programs that you can't accurately hit the choice on a drop down menu at times. I may buy another one for myself.

It is msata. After remove the screws on the bottom just pry the lid and it will be on top. Just one screw and it literally lifts up so you can pull it out. Maybe a 3 minute swap.

    Horror story:

One day, my Y2P decided to go to sleep. That day was today. I flipped it closed around one and a half hours ago, put it in it's sleeve, put that in my backpack, and continued on with school.
I get home and take it out, noticing that the fans are whirring quite loudly. The sleeve is warm. I try to pull the Y2p out, but my hand recoils in pain. This thing was HOT. Hotter than even my old HP which was balls-burning hot. I manage to use it for a few seconds and to shut it down and wait for it to cool down.

What the heck happened. It was sleeping and yet it was as loud as it has ever been, and hotter than the sun. Even the screen was hot. I hope that didn't cause any permanent damage.

    ~Jay
