I've got my AC card that ran before the BIOS update and still runs after the BIOS update. With both the original single band card and my dual band card, however, I am one of those who experience the constant network drops. May take some time to mess around this weekend to see if I can resolve it but I've pretty much convinced myself to return this to BB and go with the Thinkpad Yoga since the QHD screen causes me more issues than not with the programs I need for work, so not much point keeping this with my trackpad and wireless issues if I'm going to be running it at 1920x1080 all the time anyway. May as well get the digitizer as well then. So I don't know how much effort I'll put into tracking down what causes my dropouts. But at least for you, it shows that the BIOS didn't do anything to stop the card's function after it was updated.

Comes up when you use the face recognition to unlock the machine? I see that too, but only if I let it recognize my face. Sometimes I just hit the X to close that and type in my password since it seems to take the background into consideration more than my face... I don't feel like setting up a new photo for it to recognize for each location I may work in.

On mine, it never came up until after I registered my face with the system to use it to unlock the computer. I'm guessing it'll be resolved with a software update at some point, seems like a bad placeholder page or something.

Probably not. The keyword is affordable. There are other displays out there that have a higher res than 1080p that don't have issues with yellow (not sure if 3200x1800 is in fact the highest or not). But most of them are in the $1500-$2000 base range.

Well here was how yellows looked before the bios+energy management update. Ignore the dull blues and reds. On the left is the Y2P and on the right is an iPad 4.
    bad_yellow.jpeg

It was very noticeably dull. Now here's how the yellows look after the update.
    good_yellow.jpeg

Now, honestly, I was playing around a lot with the brightness trying to get them to match to get an accurate comparison-and I took the second shot first for that reason, but I still can't tell from that shot if the Y2P's yellows are slightly duller or if the screen is slightly dimmer. To say the yellows are now merely "good enough" would be an understatement, in my opinion.

JD, just to confirm, did you get your card from Mfactors? I was planning on installing mine shortly, would be good to know that I have reason not to expect the card being blacklisted once I bring it up.

If you had the same issue with the prior card as well, it does sound more likely to be a faulty antenna connection somewhere or something along those lines.. (am assuming you already updated to the latest drivers from the Intel website, etc.). Mine has been rock solid from day 1, though one of the first things I did was the driver update.

What I'm seeing is very different. Just to check, you're comparing while keeping a constant brightness, yes? For me, any of the three right-most modes, Daily/Cinema/Performance, when adjusted to the same brightness level (I didn't check the actual level, just visually the same brightness), show what look like the same yellow (one which I deem to be, while not spectacular, serviceable enough now).

Switching to Stable mode (the one on the left) at a constant brightness, on the other hand, shows the "old" yellow -- and the difference is profound. Quite profound, impossible to miss really. (This also matches I believe what was reported when the bios update was announced, with before only Performance mode having the "better" yellow and the other 3 the bad one, and now instead only Stable mode still retaining the bad one for the extra power savings, and the other 3 all having the better yellow.)

If you're not seeing any difference when switching between Stable and Daily modes, I'd have to think something must be amiss. Not sure if it's possible your energy manager update (to 1.0.1.49) didn't take? (Maybe hit the About box and check to be sure..)

Since my Y2P is so damned perfect in every way I am tempted to sell it to some poor soul in Europe for $3000 :) Hey if Bitcoin can go fro $13 to $1000 in a year why can't a fully functioning, issueless Y2P triple in price? Heh.

You have run to some quirks of windows 8.1. Lenovo can't do much on those. I recommend (as did some other user too) to use IE in desktop-mode or use another browser.

Example of other quirk of same type is that microsoft silverlight does not work in win8.1 metro mode. It needs desktop mode.

I've been trying to figure out how to allocate more RAM to onboard video graphics.

There is nothing in the BIOS that allows me to do that.

    Does anyone know?

I also got my dual band 7260 NGW from M-factors and I had no issue with it. I did download the drivers from Intel. They had a newer version.

Bluetooth works as well, just like it did before.

My Internet speed seems pretty dang fast with the factory wireless card. Did you notice a difference?

The only slow down I've noticed is reduced connection in my office compared to my previous laptop (we have a lot of pipes, cables, and heavy duty HVAC in the walls/ceiling), but I don't think AC would help as the higher rated bands have reduced penetration.

No difference on surfing the net. It did connect to my 5GHz signal and it's very stable.
My ISP speed is well below a speed that would come even close to maxing out the transfer capabilities.

I'm performing a system backup which is pretty fast - but I did not perform any benchmarks for a baseline...

Face recognition does work well. As long as you have enough ambient light for the system to distinguish features. No, it's nothing bad...

After using the Y2P almost 2 weeks now. Here are my conclusions:

    1) Touch screen is definitely a welcome feature, BUT, contrary to my expectations and initial belief, it is only best used on Stand and Tablet mode. On Laptop mode, the touchpad is much easier to use simply because you get to rest your hands on the palm rest. That simple differentiator makes the touchpad easier to use than having to reach the screen.

(Ease of Use Ranking: 1. Mouse 2. Touchpad 3. Touchscreen)

    2) Stand Mode is best used while lying on bed and having the gorgeous display closer to you. On any other environment, Laptop mode, which has been the mode for decades is still the hands down winner.

    3) Tablet mode, given the aspect ratio of the display (16:9) and the weight and screen size, is pretty much cubersome and almost useless unless the need to view vertical information becomes apparent.

    4) The Y2P's touchpad is almost as good as the MacBooks, if not equal. *surpirsed*

    5) Battery Life can be good and sufficient provided you did all the right settings.

Daily Mode (-60 Undervolting on CPU, Cache and GPU dynamic offset) (80% Brightness) (Maximum Power Savings on all Advanced Settings) (Max CPU state in Advanced Settings 60%)
Removed All Lenovo Apps except Energy Manager.

Activities: Web Browsing (using IE 11, Chome makes the fan go more frequent, therefore consumes more power), FlipBoard, Metro UI+ desktop UI navigation, News, Sports and Weather apps, OCCASIONAL Flash video,Windows Store download and Install, NO Games.

    Battery Life: 6~6.5 hours

Stable Mode (everything the same except Brightness is at 40%)
    Battery Life: 8~8.5 hours

    6) I seriously think Intel should stop forcing OEMs to put touchscreens on ALL Utrabooks. Using it for desktop, laptop mode is just an extra effort to use. I say, Convertibles like Y2P, Sony Flip etc. and of course Tablets, are the only devices that make touchscreens a better navigation tool than the Touchpad. My intial belief was that a touchscreen is superior to a touchpad in ALL modes. I was wrong.

    7) Never used Tent Mode. Would never ever use it in public.

I only use tent mode for watching tv, movies, listening to music etc. takes up less room and actually makes the speakers sound a bit better. Doubt I would be doing this out in public but if I had a need to I would.

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked my Energy Manager version and indeed the update didn't take. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it's somewhat better now. It's pretty much as you described.

It's more tolerable now but I'm pretty sure I'm still returning it to Best Buy because I'd get a lot better deal ordering from Lenovo. I want the warranty since my 1.1 year old Yoga 1's battery stopped working, I expect the same from the Yoga 2 Pro. Best Buy's warranty price is outrageous. Also the best buy 8GB model comes with a 256 GB SSD whereas the Lenovo model comes with a 512GB SSD.

Yes that's where I got it from. The original card drivers worked fine with the new AC version but I did uninstall the ones that came from Lenovo and installed from the manufacturer's site, same issue.

I had the opposite thought, having come from selling my Retina MacBook Pro when I got this. I didn't feel it's at that level by any means. Even simple things like the two finger scrolling, it's a whole different beast. Macs you can scroll in figure 8's if you want - this one limits you to only scrolling in one direction only - vertical or horizontal, can't go diagonal. The two and three and four finger gestures have been spotty at best - even three fingers to go back, sometimes I have to do it three or four times to get it to see, despite the distance I'm keeping my fingers apart on some of them in case they were just too close together.

And the sporadic issues I've had with mine have made it disappointing. I had to remove the Lenovo version of the drivers and go to the Synaptics, which then loses the ability to turn off the trackpad in tablet mode.

Granted, other than the glitches with gestures, this is about the best feeling trackpad I've used on a PC, light years past some of the horrible HP trackpads I've dealt with on some client notebooks... I just don't think it's at the Mac level yet.

Hopefully with some driver work, they can improve it since from the hardware perspective it should be able to do it, and it's certainly smooth enough to feel very nice when in use...

That's odd. For me at least, Y2P is almost if not equal to MACs. Though I only compared this with a visit to the Apple store. I disbaled the Edge Swipes btw.

Yeah, using the MacBook Pros for a little over four years gives a whole different appreciation of actual every day use.

Unfortunately, it spoils you. And it was actually the trackpad back in the summer of 2009 that made me buy one, having never used a Mac before in my life other than playing games on some old Apple II's back in the 80's. A friend had his "Mactanic" (the 17" 2009 model) and showed it to me, showed me the trackpad, gestures, and all the things it could do, and I was blown away.

But the desire for a tablet laptop again (I won a few MVP awards from MS in the tablet PC arena so had used tablets exclusively since their first release with XP tablet edition) was finally too much with Windows 8...

I'll be returning this Yoga 2 Pro though and going with the Thinkpad Yoga instead. As much as I like this, the scaling and issues with some of the things I do every day that force me to run it at 1920x1080 anyway, I may as well have the digitizer as well if I'm going to be limited to this resolution for my work. Fortunately as I purchased accessories for this, I knew I'd either have this or the Thinkpad version, so everything I got will work for both...

I'm kinda in your boat...but I'm more of a photo enthusiast that is pretty decent. I edited my first batch on the Pro this weekend and honestly..when viewing on my desktop IPS panel and other "normal" screens...dont see an issue.

I would appreciate if you could do some edits and tell me what you think, esp after comparing to your calibrated monitor.

Try the Yoga drivers for synaptic that were updated in October /November, for the Yoga 1, not the 2. I use those and they work the best for me.

    Hi Yoga Friends,

i have two questions to my yoga, perhapy you can help me.

    1) Do you have try to play a Fullscreengame (not from the Windows Store) like trackmania in the Tablet mode ?
i have the problem that i can not run any Fullscreengames in Tablet Mode upside down (fan on top), or in Tent mode. Only Laptop Stand or normal (Fan below) Tablet.

    2) Is there a way to enable the keyboard in Tablet mode ? in Stand mode i can stop the YMC service, and can use the Keyboard, but not on Tablet mode.
You ask why i need this ? -> because i like to play a games like trackmania by holding in Tablet Mode, and control with my fingers on the keyboard.

A question for some of you Yoga 2 Pro owners out there. I was wondering how the core i5 8gb version of the Yoga 2 Pro handles League of Legends? It is really the only PC game I've been playing lately and my future gaming duties will probably be offloaded to the xbox one / ps4.

I'm assuming that there is no way to play it on the native resolution. What resolution did you dial the game down to to play with high FPS and no drops in teamfights? What settings in LoL?

Wondering if I can get away with competitive play on this machine. Thanks!

FYI -- Tried search but I had no luck.

Best Buy doesn't have the 512 GB and the warranty for 3 years is an additional $500 (compared to ~$230 warranty from Lenovo)

Hey guys! I just bought the Yoga 2 Pro and was trying to troubleshoot a few things. Googling around and I found this HUGE forum dedicated to Yoga 2 Pro users. Time to sign up! :D

I love it so far. A few kinks that need some fixing (Turns out IE is the best browser to use experience wise.. o_O, will have to stick with Chrome Canary though). My battery life seems to be little lower than most people at around 5 hours. Dunno if the new BIOS update and EM update had anything to do with it *shrug*.

I uninstalled the Yoga Picks Apps because boy did it get annoying switching between modes. But I don't know when this started, but in Tablet Mode, my trackpad isn't disabled. Does anyone know why?

I don't know why, but youtube videos will not play on my Y2PRO. I tried using another browser, installed Java, flash player, changed my power settings, etc to no avail. I did uninstall all the Yoga apps, the anti virus and installed a few programs, so that might have something to do with it.

I was looking at Y2P cases and stumbled on some items for the Yoga in general, with some that are 13"-specific. The Y2P will probably fit a bit more loosely in the Yoga 13 and/or Macbook Pro 13 cases, given that it's slightly thinner...

Check your "hosts" file and see if there is anything listed there with "youtube" as content... that would block the communication with their servers...

The file is located at "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"...

Yup, I went ahead and erased everything because I was getting error messages, but now I have another issue: No matter where I put my brightness to, if I reboot, my screen becomes like 100% bright( I already turned off adaptive brightness, etc). When I toggle between power levels, my screen gets dim again. I'm starting to get pissed off. So am I supposed to reload the BIOS? But I know that the BIOS is not affected by a wiping of your machine. Dammit. I already installed the new Lenovo power management tool too.

Edit: So for some reason my screen is stuck at 100% brightness every time I shutdown, reboot or restart . Where can I find the Lenovo energy manager? Maybe I can adjust something there?

Usually that indicates that you somehow ended up with the Synaptics driver installed rather than the one from Lenovo's site. At some point did you either download the driver from Symantec or get an update maybe through Windows Update for the Synaptics device?

Easiest thing if you want it off in tablet mode is to download the driver from Lenovo's support site, then uninstall the Synaptics driver and install Lenovo's version again.

Hi. Since there are about a million responses to this thread is there a place one can go like wiki that will talk about updates and configurations and recommended accessories for this device. Like a thumbnail sketch of all of the pertinent post. Probably only about 20% relate to actual enhancements? Mine will be coming I soon and I cant keep all of these ideas/suggestions straight.. Thanks

From what I've seen on here you can buy the computer at Best Buy and buy the warranty directly from Lenovo any time in the first 30 days.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

However the option to get 512 GB is also important. To boot, I'll probably get the clementine orange.

Energy Manger loads at Startup. You can find it in the hidden task manager items.

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I've had my yoga for a month now and other than a few minor issues I've had no real problems with the machine. This morning I turned the computer on to find that it was not connected to the wifi stating that it is not connected-no connections available. I checked other devices including my cell phone and they were all connected just fine to my network. I've tried doing some trouble shooting and windows diagnostics stated windows did not find a driver for my network adapter.

I remembered that all the drivers were located on Lenovo D drive. Here's where I need the help (I'm not very technical) I went to the WLAN folder and selected the auto run file and that didn't seem to solve the problem. I'm not sure if I just selected the wrong file or was in the wrong folder all together. I'm hoping someone could give me some advice as to what I can try next to solve this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently using my iPad to type this message.

    Thank you.

Try going to device manager (many ways to get there, I prefer right clicking the COMPUTER icon and going to properties, then going to "Device Manager" on the left side. Find the device in the tree (could be under Network Adapters with an ! on it or under Other Devices or somewhere depending on what the real issue is with the OS. Once there, right click and select Properties or just double click. Then go to the driver tab hit "Update Driver", then "Browse my computer". See if you can go that route to the folder with the files in it and see if it recognizes it that way.

Official Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro driver: Download Link

Intel's information about random disconnects (not sure 100% if this is what is happening to some folks): Data Reordering Issue

This issue that Intel talks about is fixed for the 7260 family of WiFi cards in the 16.x.x version of the driver and higher. Lenovo currently does not go to that version. It's still at 15.x.x.

Here's the download page for the Intel 16.1.5 drivers, for Windows 8/8.1: Intel 7260 Drivers v16.6.0.8

    Your call...

Also, under device manager, network adapters, double-click on the Intel WiFi driver and then select Power Management.

Disable the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", then click OK.

Run the computer for a while (after a reboot) and try a Wi-Fi-intensive task... something that takes 1-2 hours of non-stop transfers to ensure that there is no disconnect.

If this works, you may try re-enabling the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and see if it's still working. I would rather have this option enabled for better power usage efficiency.
