Thanks! That worked. Saw on the Adobe forums that intel had releases a new driver which fixed the problems on 4400 HD GPU with Adobe products. Here's the link -

Voice typing. Does our sweet laptop have a mic? I thought I recalled seeing some Dragon software in the bloatware. I am using voice commands and searching more and more on my smartphone, and thought I'd try it on the laptop too.
Never mind the question. I started playing with Dragon, and it works surprisingly well. -
Expand 'Display adapters', you should see 'Intel(r) HD Graphics', right click on it and select uninstall, and follow the prompts.
Reboot when its done, then run the download from the link in previous post.
The new intel driver won't fix the small toolbars/menu problems, just the startup problems where you might have found photoshop taking a long time to start or hanging completely on startup. -
Thanks for the great and clear explanation.

Adobe Illustrator CC now supports HiDPI displays, other programs in the CC suite should be compatible soon as well -
I could not get comfortable with both the tent or tablet mode. Its really pretty heavy for a tablet and I couldn't get used to it. Tent mode didn't work for me because I needed trackpad.
My best position was opening it in laptop mode and surfing with my fingers on trackpad with keyboard angled on chest and display above me..lol...I am weird...but that's the only position I liked....
So yeah its more a laptop when thinking about buying one.... -

The tiny icons, menus and toolbars on Adobe products is a different issue, which is fixed at the moment with the latest update only on Illustrator CC. Still waiting for updates from Adobe to fix this on Photoshop and the other products in the creative cloud suite. -
I suspect Adobe has been using non- standard coding and is hoping that MS will bail them out with a kludge fix. My speculation is that MS isn't willing to kludge their API and is insisting that programmers follow proper coding practices going forward. That could explain why Adobe is taking so long to port their software to high DPI displays; they need to rewrite substantial portions of their software and that could cost a lot of money.
Other vendors seem to manage on high DPI displays. Since no progress has been made for three years I'm giving up on Adobe and looking for alternative software.

My puppy chewed through my charging cable, but just the end that connects to the Yoga; the power supply brick and the outlet cable are fine. Anyone know where I can find a replacement cable for the laptop end without having to purchase the whole power supply?
Thanks! -

I'm having trouble with my brightness controls- they seem to stop working most of the time after resuming from sleep. The only way to get them to respond is to completely restart the laptop.
I've checked and recheck all of my power management settings and have everything turned off and the laptop in full high performance mode. I also just installed the new intel graphics drivers shown above without any luck. When resuming from sleep neither the brightness function keys work nor do any of the brightness / power management sliders anywhere in windows.
When pressing the brightness function keys the on screen display still goes up and down, but the actual screen brightness remains fixed.
Very annoying- I keep the display dim when working at night and then sleep the computer until the next day. When I open it up then, it's stuck at the low brightness setting and I have to reboot every morning to get my brightness controls back.
Any ideas? -
Failing that, perform a lenovo system restore (backup your stuff again to external HD as this will wipe your SSD), and if the problems still there could be a hardware problem. -
Well I decided to browse into a local Microcenter and bout a Yoga Pro 2 last night for 539.99. I think I got a great deal I notice the yellow issue but so far it doesn't really bother me. I did upgrade the bios and the energy manager but it's still off. Overall it seems to run the few games I have put on it well. D3, MTGO, Hearthstone. Civ I will have to tinker with looks like I may have to mess with the resolution before launching each time kind of annoying but I will at least test playing it with touch. Wifi seems good so far and it's great for web browsing, youtube and the audio quality is way better than I expected.
Any bloatware worth removing to free up space or that drain the battery? I plan to try a color profile for the yellow fix as a last attempt but for the price I paid I don't think I can get anything else comparable. -
I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro a week after I received my Yoga2 Pro. I still have access to Lenovo Companion, Yoga Transition, and a couple other apps, but I can no longer find many of the other apps in the Windows app store or at the Lenovo download site.
The apps are still installed on my laptop and still run, but there is no way to reinstall the apps (confirmed by Lenovo and Microsoft) short of restoring back to the original factory configuration.
So, IMHO most of the Lenovo preinstalled apps should not be used (unless you are OK with losing them at some point in the future) and many can be uninstalled. You may wish to check the Lenovo download site for the Yoga2 Pro and only keep the apps that can be reinstalled from there.

also, something that all y2p owners should do, this reclaims ~17 gb of space on your ssd, which is a significant amount imo.

Anyone know if a case specifically for tablet mode exists, so I don't have to be deal with feeling the keys while in that mode?
I don't want a case for full time use, just something easy to put on/remove for tablet mode. Thanks.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk -
A bit pricey, but it works great in tablet mode. It is just a thin (faux leather) case with no padding. You can slip just the keyboard side in while in tablet mode to cover the keys and the entire laptop can slip inside when the lid is closed. It protects the keys in tablet mode and it protects the laptop case from scratches when the laptop is closed and in the case. You may also want a padded case or laptop bag for bump protection though.

Does anyone know what could be a problem (or if it's a known issue with Y2P) with laptop not restoring the hibernated session when powering it on?
I've had this problem since I got my Y2P a month ago. When I press the power button to turn on the laptop that was hibernated, the keyboard lights switch on for 1 sec and the laptop goes off, just like that. I have to press the power button again, and then it will boot OK, but with a cold start, it doesn't restore the hibernated session.
This was happening even if I would turn off the laptop normally, without hibernation. It would power on just for a second, and go off. I then disabled hibernation with powercfg -h off, and the issue was solved, the laptop would boot the first time when the power button was pressed.
Some days ago I tried to enable hibernation again, to see if Win 8.1 Update 1 solved the problem. I tested it few times, and it worked OK, coming out of hibernation with the first press on power button. But then yesterday, when I tried to turn on the laptop that previously went into hibernation the same issue happened again. It booted with the second press on power button, but the hibernated session was lost.
Is there some known issue with powering the laptop or hibernation and Y2P?? -
How much free space do you have on the C: drive?
When you re-create the hybernation file, it may not have enough space to size itself properly.
Also, I would try disabling hybrid sleep and just just standard hybernation... to see if that makes any difference.
For the record, my hybernation works fine, but I don't use hybrid sleep. -
Two questions...
Has anyone managed to resolve the issue where the trackpad becomes unresponsive? I replaced the Lenovo driver with the Synaptics driver, and overall that's a much better experience, but the occasional locking of the trackpad is kind of annoying.
Also, with all the talk about improvements to Illustrator on the high resolution display, has anyone had any success with or heard any updates about Quicken supporting the ultra-high resolution? Right now I switch to a lower resolution and change the screen magnification. Perhaps there's a way to do this via a preset and without having to logout/login? -
Hybrid sleep is disabled by default on all power plans as well.
The interesting thing is that the issue of needing to press power button few times to boot the laptop happens even when the laptop is shut down normally (not always, but often). But this never happens if hibernation is disabled. So, there's something about hibernation that messes up the booting process, regardless if the laptop was hibernated or not... -
Regarding screen flickering...I feel like I've done everything I can do. I've turned off adaptive brightness in the 3 different places, but still at low brightness, I get a flicker (about once a second). Is there anything else I should be looking out for?
-
There's 3 different settings:
- Panel self refresh - gives at least 1 more hour of battery lie in normal usage, but can cause screen blanking sometimes, symptoms are as if a display panel wire is losing a contact, but it's an Intel display driver problem that probably tries to save too much power and doesn't give enough power to the display. If the display goes blank just close the lid ad open it again, and will be OK.
- Extended battery life for gaming.
- Display power savings technology, which has a slider when enabled, from max quality to max battery.
Try disabling it all, one by one, and see what happens.
If you're on old stock Intel display drivers try to install the newest Intel ones, download from their site. You'll have to first uninstall the old stock ones in order to be allowed to install the new ones.
Does flickering happen only on battery or when on power as well? -
Like I've said, I've gone through the 3 places -
In the Intel HD menu
In the Desktop Power Options
In the modern Control Panel
And have done everything I'm supposed to do. Still getting screen flickering on low brightness. My driver is 10.18.10.3496, from 3/11/14. Should I try rolling it back or using another driver? Or should I delete this one and download something newer, if it's available?
I haven't checked while plugged in, but it definitely flickers at low brightness on battery. -
It seems as if it the display isn't getting enough power, or the power isn't regulated properly. The blanking issue when Panel self refresh option is enabled is probably related to it.
It looks like that Intel's drivers and its power delivery isn't configured for Y2P's display, which probably consumes more energy and works in slightly different way than most other screens.
Yeah, the screen isn't perfect, it has its issues with current drivers. It's a new technology, and we can just hope we'll have some drivers that will improve those issues.
I had Galaxy Nexus phone, which had the first HD pentile matrix screen, and its screen also had issues which are pretty similar - greenish colors and slight flickering at very, very low brightness.
This flickering issue doesn't bother me personally because at these settings the screen is too dim for my usage (unless I'm in a pitch dark room, and even then it's dim).
But I do hope the next crop of drivers solve those blanking and flickering issues. It could be just the hardware problem of the display, a price we pay for adopting a new technology... -
Could I maybe have any luck rolling drivers back? This helped me with my wifi problems. Could I maybe keep checking out drivers to see if anything clicks?
-
After several months of no new drivers for they Y2P, Lenovo has finally released an update for the motion control drivers for Win8.0/8.1.
-
Hopefully this will be just a beginning, and Lenovo gives Y2P drivers a much needed refresh. Wifi and display drivers especially... -
All of you who use motion control, wave you hands!
That should do it... -
I was thinking of resizing that to the full 8GB, but I left it at default size. -
I tried using a pair of Bluetooth Headphones while in bed tonight with my Y2P, but when I paired it up, the wifi connection cut out. I think I was using the latest BT driver from Intel's site. Is this driver no good? I'd love to get this working but I really don't want to screw up any of my drivers or anything.
My wifi driver is driver 16.5.3.6, and I can't change it because I went through hell trying to get that to work right. Is there a magic driver for Bluetooth that won't conflict with my wifi? -
hi all! i just bought a y2p with i7 256 ssd 8gb. i noticed that the keyboard backlight is uneven. Some buttons are brighter than others. Is unique issue or all y2p is affected by my problem? thanks for help

Hi guys
new owner of yoga 2 pro (i7/8g/256 gb)
i've been using it for a week now
firefox or windows itself i don't know really seem it does something with scaling problem
my firefox seems tiny in previewing pages with most sites so i zoomed most of them to 130% or more
suddenly since yesterday firefox scaling is perfect on 100% for all sites -
Thanks. -
For those experiencing trackpad issues (everyone?), I just installed the Synaptics Touchpad driver for the new Yoga 2 (not Pro), and the touchpad on my Y2P works almost flawlessly now. This driver is newer than the one for the Y2P, and so far, I'm happy with the results.

I just bought a new (refurbished/Geek Squad Certified) Yoga 2 Pro from Best Buy last night!
I was wondering if there was any kind of write-up for new owners "The first 8 things to do with your Yoga," or something like that.
So far my process has been:
1. Install every Windows Update marked as "Important."
2. Update to the latest version of Windows 8.1.
3. Download and install about a dozen drivers from the Lenovo website.
I did these in the sequence listed in step 10 on this website:
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Clean Install
Already, it's possible that I have done those steps out of order. I remember with the Sony Vaio, they had a very particular sequence which was basically unguessable, but pretty well-documented on their webpage.
I think it's about time for me to create some recovery media. (Do Lenovo machines have the same problem as Sony where they can't write recovery media to a USB flash drive if it identifies itself as a "fixed drive?") And I should also probably be setting a restore point somewhere along the line here.
So, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward some good documentation/instructions. Or even chime in on whether I'm doing anything majorly out of sequence.
Among my next steps will be:
Create some kind of recovery media. (I'm not sure at what step I should have done this.)
Create a Restore point at some point.
Set up a few user accounts for myself, my girlfriend, and an all-purpose Admin account.
Install / activate MS Office.
Misc. maintenance, as needed, including:
change function keys to perform their "F" functions by default
check for problems with yellow color
check for problems with flickering
adaptive brightness (turn it off, in three places, I think)
read about some power setting thing involving 60% battery life
Install the "optional" Windows Updates.
Uninstall Metro apps that I don't use.
Research the preinstalled Lenovo apps, and see which, if any, are bloatware. Uninstall those.
Start hammering on the machine! -- playing constant videos, maybe some games, etc. -- with the idea being that if an electronic item is going to malfunction, it will probably do so in its first 48 hours of use, and I want to be sure that this happens during the Best By 15 day return period.
That's all I've got for now. Any suggestions or pointers would be welcome.

First off, I wasn't able to get the two finger tap to work for the right click (mod by setting 2FingerTapAction registry entry to 2 instead of default 0), where this works with both older touchpad drivers, with the last Y2P stock driver 17.0.8.7 and with the last Yoga 1 driver 17.0.8.4.
Another thing I noticed is that it seemed as if it has a slight delay before it starts scrolling when you swipe with two fingers. In modern apps the scrolling was also very slow.
The good thing about it is that it has few more options than stock driver, like reverse scrolling direction, so you can set it up to scroll traditional Windows direction, and not Mackbook style as it is in stock driver.
BTW, what's your issue with stock Lenovo touchpad driver? And in what way is this new one better than the stock?
I've tried the last stock Y2P driver (17.0.8.7) and last Yoga 1 driver (17.0.8.4), and have no issues with either. Or don't really notice anything... -
