Thanks for the updates on the "yellow" issue. I just bought a warranty/accidental 2 year plan from lenovo for $97. Seems like a far better deal than Best Buy when I purchased it, just a heads up if anyone was looking for one.
-
So I don't have one yet and was wondering for those that do and are brave enough to try: can the keys be re-arranged to match an alternative layout?
-
-
For 3200 x 1800 wallpapers, Google Advanced Imaged Search is probably the best general bet.

Goodness how do I turn off Yoga Picks?? Do I have to uninstall or can't I please just turn it off for now and possibly revisit it later?
*answer: found it in the system tray. I am clearly disoriented by Windows 8... I'll adapt..eventually... -

Is there any damage being done to the battery by charging with the lower voltage battery pack? -
Display adjustments for easier readability:
I haven't seen too much in this thread about this topic. some mention of halving the resolution, and I have played with the zoom setting. There are still some issues with zoom setting to 200% with installation programs and other instances where the letters are extremely small.
What solution makes the most sense to see almost everything so it is not tiny, but then be able to quickly go to native resolution/zoom to get the great high res?
(as a new user, I haven't yet figured out if there is a way to view topics within this thread grouped together) -

This might be a stupid question but there are obviously no play/pause keys on the Yoga like there were on my old macbooks. It was great for pausing or playing music with one press of a button. Does anyone know of a way to replicate this in iTunes for PCs or another music player? I'm guessing it's impossible because the key would have to be permanently mapped to the music player... but figured doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm sure other media players do too but there's no reason to use them over foobar. -

I just gave a call to Lenovo sales, number should be on they're homepage. Doesn't seem to matter where you buy it as long as your within the return date. There seems to be a sale going on too for the warranties, not 100% confirmed, but I mentioned I was a student. -
I did mention I was a student, but that did not affect the price at all.
They did mention that if I had "my friends" order number that they would be willing to look into giving me the same price, but otherwise the price will stay as is,
That's unfortunate, $97 would have been great... -
-
Edit: Forgot to mention I had to wait for the representative to get managers approval for the discount too. If they deny you any discount without checking with the manager, I would suggest asking. -

Do you need your best buy receipt handy when speaking with the lenovo rep when ordering the warranty?

I called today and was only offered Accidental Damage 2 years Depot for $119 and 3yr On Site for $239.
Did you do anything special to get the 2 yr Accidental Damage On Site for $140 (or $149 I think I've seen someone else in the thread mention)? That's the plan I'd go for
Anyone managed to get any discounts on warranties?
I can confirm you just need the serial # info from the bottom of the machine ("S/N..." on the sticker)
-
Is there a Lenovo "part number" for your warranty on your receipt? Maybe that would help others get the same pricing from Lenovo reps as they clearly don't have this down yet?
I assume you called Lenovo (not online)
Thanks

beside that post in the first page, can anyone who has the yoga 2 pro confirm that this is dual channel?

Run ANDROID on your Yoga 2 Pro!
Coming from an iPhone/iPad, the apps on Win8 Metro are somewhat lame and remembered reading about BlueStacks. This is a Window (or Mac) app let turns your PC into an Android tablet.
I have to say this works REALLY WELL on the Yoga 2 Pro. Installation is quick and easy (and free). Sign in with a Google account (typical for Android), gets GMail, Google calendars etc.
Does a great job of using the full 3200x1800 res of the Y2P. Works in portrait orientation if you want. Screen looks beautiful -- seems much more attractive than running Win8.1 Metro. No scaling issues - everying is legible. Touch screen works perfectly (no problem getting it to recognize what you are touching).
Might be the best way of getting GMail on the Y2P in tablet/Metro mode.
Only thing that isn't "integrated" is the keyboard pop-up. There's a very faint keyboard icon on the bottom right area that you'll need to use to manually toggle between on-screen and the Yoga hardware keyboard. BlueStacks/Android obviously isn't getting the keyboard on/off info that the Lenovo mode app generates for Windows between Laptop and Tent/Stand/Tablet modes.ferrydust likes this. -

Just got my I7/8gb/256gb Y2P from Best Buy today, so far so good, but I have what may be a dumb question. On my old Samsung Series 5 Ultra there was a Samsung software update program that showed any updates available for my machine without having to search for individual drivers and such, does Lenovo have such a program? If not how do I find out about future driver updates etc.? Will I be notified in some way? Sorry for the novice question.

My Y2P's left Ctrl key seems a little off. The key is slightly depressed more than normal, and doesn't have the same underlying resistance that other keys have. While it works, I am worried that eventually it may fail or become 'stuck' in the down position. Is this something I can fix by popping it off and seeing if something is stuck in there?
-
So I received the i3 version of the Y2P two days ago and so far I really like it. Here are my observations:
-Form Factor is great. I had a 13" laptop previously and I continue to do work on it as a laptop. However, I also use it as a tablet mode too, using Facebook and other apps, and it's not as heavy as I thought. The tent mode is great too. For example, watching NHL Game Center Live is almost as if I have a portable TV with me.
-Screen is great, however 3200x1800 is overkill. I know some people really like having the highest resolution possible but for a 13" screen I think if they would have made it a 1080p and concentrated on the color calibration instead, it would have been much better. In fact I put it on a 1080p resolution and it works better on some programs and saves some battery life. The yellow color issue is definitely not a deal breaker as I don't notice it when watching videos or looking at pics, but I do notice it when I'm using Excel and some cells are supposed to be highlighted in yellow and they don't appear that way. Hopefully Lenovo will have a fix.
-Battery Life is okay. I'm getting around 5 hrs, but was hoping to get more. Again they could have made the Y2P with a 1080p screen and I think it would have helped with battery life.
-Windows 8.1 will take some getting use too. Coming from Windows 7, this was the biggest adjustment I had to make using this laptop. A lot of things are unintuitive, and i still have not learned how to use platform well. I see the advantages of metro in tablet mode but it's still difficult to close and switch between screens. Also I wish they had more apps, like banking, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, and NHL Gamecenter Live. Then it would almost be an iPad replacement.
Overall I am very happy with this laptop for the price I got. -

I received my i7/8GB/512GB model from Lenovo Friday (several days earlier than predicted, FYI), and so far I love it. Coming from a hefty HP Envy 15, the Y2P feels sleek, but not flimsy. The build quality feels solid, yet incredibly light. The keyboard is a little shallower than expected (vs first gen Yoga), but is still very pleasant to type on. The trackpad is nice, and I appreciate the "grippy" feel it has.
The screen is beautiful. There are some color accuracy issues (especially with yellows), but I probably would not have noticed had I not read the forums here. Some applications do have issues with scaling, but for the most part, things display great. I plan on sitting down for some gaming sessions with a variety of games to see how well they perform and how well touch is supported at some point, I will relay my experiences for any that are interested.
I am a little disappointed in the Windows 8 app selection, though this is neither Lenovo's fault, nor a dealbreaker. It is nice having the extra functionality from touch-optimized apps where supported. Windows 8 does take a little getting used to, and some functionality is not very intuitive. It bothers me that the system options in Metro and Desktop mode are segregated, this does not make much sense.
Overall, I am very happy. I would say that if you are on the fence about this laptop, take the plunge and you will probably be happy. -
I ordered the i5 8g 256gb silver edition a couple of days ago. Afterwards I was stalking this thread to get my expectations in order when i noticed that a lot of people had used the "SCOUTS" discount on the i7 version even after the deal had expired by going through a chat agent on the lenova website. Well, when I tried the to upgrade mine to the i7 using the same techniques I learned from this forum the chat agent I had said it wasn't possible. Just to be sure has anyone had any success getting the lower price point on the i7 version lately ($1200)?
tldr: Has anyone been able to get the "SCOUTS" discount as of lately? if so how and when? -
The AC7260 card is working quite well. I have seen speeds as high 760 Mbps. However that is in the same room as the router. Throughout most of my house, I see speeds of at least 300Mbps. I am pleased with the results as connections are rock solid now. Is it possible to get even more speed by tying in the 2.4g band?
Looking at the partitions on the hard drive, I have 7 in total. That seems like more than I started with. I have restored several times. I am wondering if the failed attempt to do a clean install of Windows left a partition or two. It failed as I could not find the right drivers to get the keyboard to work. Never had to install a driver for the keyboard on any other laptop before so there may have been other issues.
As compared the Sony Vaio Pro, liking this unit more.heisenberg420 and ferrydust like this. -
But I have faith in Microsoft. Windows 8.1 is already a big improvement over 8 just look at the mail app (barely usable in 8). I think they're headed in a good direction. -
Does anyone know here how to adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad on a Y2 pro? I keep zooming Web pages and keep doing other things by mistake. Overall, it's too sensitive. I already got rid of my flickering issue on my screen, through a tip from another forum, so I just need to adjust this last thing so that I can enjoy my Y2 pro. Thanks.
-
So who is thinking about returning their Y2 pro? I'm almost to that point due to QC issues with my case, the so so battery life and the jerky touchpad. If you do, what are you planning on getting?
-
The sensitivity setting is under the Advanced tab of trackpad properties. Btw how did you get rid of the screen flickering? I don't know if it's just me or it really does flicker/increase or decrease brightness just a hair every once in a while.josetheman37 likes this. -
