BTW, it looks like they just pushed out an update that bring it to v5.0.0.1 today. Unfortunately I can't find where it was downloaded to unless it was deleted after being installed.

Would you mind ziping up the Programs Files Transition folder?
You can send a attachment and e-mail it to: [email protected] -
Its on its way..put it under \program files (x86)\lenovo\lenovo transition
-
thank you much ... but no luck, there is prolly ton of registry dependencies, I am waiting for lenovo.support to respond
thanks again though! -
Interesting, I noticed the display will orient to any direction. Putting it into "tent Mode" and standing it up on its side gives you an 1800x3200 9x16 display that rocks for coding. Have to use an external keyboard.

It's not a struggle, but you can't move it around once it's in. It really isn't bad. Plus, amazon's return policy is great if needed.

You need linux kernel 3.11 for the wifi to work. It's an API level thing. Some have backported the wifi to 3.10. You may also need the /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode file, which can be found here. Good luck! : )

Don1, I already have a bootable USB drive that is SUPPOSED to work with EFI......I think.
People have said something about a Novo key or something, is this how I enter the menu? What do I do? -
I saw it referred to in a PDF as novo key, but its a little button next to the power button. When the system is powered down, that button boot into the BIOS. it is where you go to restore the system as well. Is there a key that can get to bios when rebooting (F2, ESC, etc.)?
I have to say, that 48 hours with Win8 has been painful. -
I ended up with the Intel driver off the lenovo site but the bluetooth driver from the intel site that *_e164 is the same one I used - but I'm pretty sure that's only for bluetooth

Hi Everyone. My system is arriving tomorrow. Can't wait! I was wondering why a bunch of owners are upgrading their WiFi cards. What's wrong with the one it comes with? I played around with the model at Best Buy and the wifi seemed fine. Am I missing something?
Also, does anyone know if the ram is upgradable? I got the i3 version from Lenovo using the Scouts coupon, but it only comes with 4MB ram.
Thanks,ferrydust likes this. -
Ram is really not upgradable as it is soldered to the board. I'm upgrading the wifi card so I can get on the 5 Ghz frequency which is a little less congested in my neighborhood and better for HD video streaming. I'm also trying to make use of my new wireless AC ASUS router I bought a few months back. The wifi card is OK but I was having some stuttering with 1080p 60p family videos wirelessly steaming from my home server with the router only 2 rooms away.

Did anyone ever post a list of settings or things that should be done right out of the box to configure a new machine so that the initial user experience would be more enjoyable. There are suggestions for mitigating the 'yellow problem' and trackpad setting recommendations etc. scattered around. Just wondering if the recommendations have been put into one place for the benefit of people like me who will soon need to configure a machine.

The Musemee Notier stylus arrived today and so far I really like it. It lets me do handwriting in OneNote and converts it to text pretty darn well. I need to figure out some settings in OneNote (I've never used it before) to make it work correctly. Lack of palm rejection is the only real problem I've encountered so far. Definitely a good option when you don't want to wait for the Thinkpad Yoga.

They make a lot of money off warranties. There have been stories on NPR and elsewhere about how profitable they are for stores. You are looking at paying over 30% for Best Buy's 2 yr warranty. However, if you use a platinum visa card they double the warranty automatically, up to two years. So I just got that $400 BB warranty for free. But if I didn't get it free I would not even pay $150 for it. I'm sure that some day I'll use one of those but this is a well-built machine and even if it fails I've saved a lot by not buying these in the past.

Is that the mac book sleeve, or the mac book air sleeve?
-
You are not getting accidental damage coverage. While I usually don't insure tech equipment I will with this laptop as the SSD's and Soldered RAM are concerns over 3 years, plus anything else that can go wrong including a drop. I also got an extended warranty for my Plasma for in home service. Not lugging this thing to a service station. I had a hard enough time getting it home.
BB warranties are very expensive, but there are always other option at much cheaper prices including Lenovo.ferrydust likes this. -
Wow, so jealous! I ordered mine online with a rep from Lenovo on 10/19. It was slated to arrive on 11/5.
When I check in on order today, they moved the estimated arrival date back to 11/21 without ever notifying me of the delay!
So annoyed and mad!!! -
I bought the I7 256GB 8GB Lenovo pro2 about 4 days ago and I love it! No wifi issues, but I do have some kind of imperfection on the case behind the screen. It looks like a spec of dust or a tiny hair got stuck when it was painted. I can still return it to BB, but then what would I get? All the other laptops at BB suck, except the Samsung activ 7.
-
I'm glad that you mentioned that the Y2pro is better than the Samsung activ 7 because I was thinking of returning this laptop(I got the I7 256GB) and getting the activ 7 due to a small imperfection on the lid of my Yoga(very tiny spec of dust or something stuck in the paint). I might just live with that, since it's impossible to get another one through BB and I need a PC for college now! I'm not going for the Samsung no more, that's for sure. Thanks.
-
I'm sure glad that they don't put any permanent labels like Samsung does on their activ line of ultrabooks. They even do this on the activ 9 + ! That would annoy the heck out of me.

IE11 (both metro and desktop mode) crashes on Silverlight and Flash videos, anybody else experiencing it? works fine in Chrome.
The lack of silverlight support really amused me at first! -
I have not experienced that, but I did notice an update through windows update today for IE 11 stability issues. Might want to see if you've downloaded the update yet and if it helps.
-
Is there anyway to adjust the touchpad sensitivity? It is a little painful when navigating IE, since one swipe gets so much movement.
-
I ordered mine on the 16th. Maybe they held production after the first patch so that they can fix some issues and make it better.

Oooh, now I am doubly excited to get mine! My i7/8GB/512GB build from Lenovo is scheduled for delivery today. Can anybody comment on the bloatware that comes pre-installed? Anything worth keeping? Any particularly bad offenders that should be removed ASAP? -
An update on running the upgraded Intel 802.11AC card.
As a baseline, I have a usb 3.0 ethernet adapter on this system and it transfers a large iso file at 112 megabytes/sec (MB/s).
I am running a netgear R7000 access point, my speed on the wireless nic fluctuates between 468 and 520 Megabits/sec (Mb/s) and in my transfer window I am seeing 24-25 MB/s. I have read that the access point should be capable of closer to 40 MB/s so I will be curious if anyone else's experience with this wireless card is any better than mine an how you got it done.
From a reliability perspective I have not seen any disconnects or any other problems - it is rock solid so fargilgamesh0 likes this. -
I have my AC card in hand finally. Any tips or pointers for the install? Those antenna connectors look scary small and fragile.
Plan on a clean install of W8.1 this weekend. Did anyone track down the Transitions program? -
Mine should be arriving at home any moment now (!) I can provide feedback on the Lenovo slot-in case then. I'm quite sure the one thing I will most immediately need is a privacy screen/filter.. if anyone has any experience/thoughts as to which one/size/etc., I'll appreciate it. I'll aim to share what I determine as well.
I wish the Y2P had digitizer; the Thinkpad Yoga's very interesting for a few reasons but especially for pen input; however, the extra weight and less battery life, etc. make it less interesting for me. As it is, I'm thinking the 11-inch Yoga (would want Haswell i7 though) would be better for my purposes than 13, but we'll see. Anyway, re: digitizer, I'm considering picking up a small Wacom tablet/pen w/ wireless accessory kit; would I find it convenient enough to additionally carry and take out and use frequently, though? to be decided. -
I got the transitions folder - but its no good, try dumping the relevant registry settings. I had no luck with Lenovo support - they tried telling me the software I am speaking of does not exist
-
Are you looking for the Lenovo Transitions application download? Here is a link to it:
http://driverdl.lenovo.com.cn/lenovo/DriverFilesUploadFloder/36071/Win8_lenovo_transition_x64.exe -
Where are you guys buying the AC card? Wouldn't mind investing in one myself.
-
So, anyone who ordered off Lenovo.com got theirs yet?
-
People have, they are in the lenovo support thread and yes they all have the same problem with yellows.
-
This one is for the old Yoga's - doesn't work on Yoga 2 Pro
-
Suspecting you ordered an orange one? Just a guess, but it seems like it's the orange ones which are being delayed.. I almost went with an orange one before deciding to get the silver 512gb -- I noticed at the time that the shipping estimates seemed further out for the orange models, and since then my shipping date as for many was actually moved up to today, while it seems that everyone who suddenly got a further delayed estimate had gone with the orange. Maybe they're having a supply delay with the orange casings (wouldn't be too surprising if they had more silver casings earlier, since e.g. the BB retail models they supplied are only in silver).
-
468-520 Mbps? Unless I'm misconstruing something, that's fantastic. From my understanding, the 7260 would have a theoretical max of 867 Mbps (with 2 80MHz channels at 433.3 each) -- for real world numbers, Anandtech was seeing around 365 Mbps from a laptop with that card, which was the best performer among the mobile options tested: AnandTech | The Joys of 802.11ac WiFi . (And those were his "easy-case" results at only 5 feet, not sure if you are further out.) Your 468-520 actually matches the Western Digital wireless bridge he has at the top of that test, so that's pretty great. (He was using a different router though, so that could also be a factor.)
Out of curiosity, did you try your new card in regular wireless-n mode on the 2.4 GHz band? (Or maybe also in regular n mode on the 5 GHz band? Not sure if it is possible to configure it and/or the router to not use AC automatically if connecting on the 5 GHz band.. I don't have an AC router, so I'm not sure how that works.) Basically, sounds like the AC numbers are really good compared to what one could expect with current ac mobile cards (two 80 MHz channels), am just curious to know if using a non-AC 2.4 GHz connection with the card seems as good (or better) as the stock 7260 card (and ideally, if an n 5 GHz connection looks good too).
Also, Bluetooth also still working well?
Thanks much for the report above, that's really interesting news. -
Wireless AC card from mfactors.com
Make sure it is the Intel 7260NGW one.
I would also appreciate any install tips with either the back exterior case, the wifi card or antenna's or the drivers.
As for the speed from the other posters test who knows - could be the drivers for the wifi card or the router - pick your poison. Intel sure seems to be struggling with wifi drivers and reliability lately (Sony Vaio Pro 13). I've been getting all kinds of mixed results on my ASUS AC66U router depending on which firmware I'm trying (range vs speed). -
"Opening the bottom is trivial - the only real trick are the plastic tabs on the sides of the base holding it to the keyboard - just a little outward flex pressure on the keyboard plate pops those right off. " Ksdehoff
Keyboard plate? Are you pressing onto the outside edges of that plastic that surrounds the keyboard on the sides while lifting the back off? -
Yep. I did order the orange. Who knew that it would cause such a delay? As someone suggested, perhaps they are delaying the shipment to correct the yellow issue?
-
I'm pretty skeptical of that, partly because it wouldn't explain the apparent discrepancy between those ordering orange vs those ordering silver (the latter of whom, including me, often ordered after the former).
-
I am sure they are not. They already know how to fix it good enough for 99% of the people who might buy it, now all they need to do is keep that hunk of software from losing its settings when you close the lid or power it off and they can push out a software update for that.
-
This is interesting - I actually uninstalled the Transitions utility as one of the first things I did, but my Y2P is still working as intended. I wonder what the difference is? The only Lenovo programs still installed, according to Programs and Features, are Lenovo Dependency Package, Lenovo Experience Improvement, and Lenovo OneKey Recovery. Maybe make sure you have those ones installed and you won't need the Transitions utility?
-
When you say there's a fix for 99% of people - do you mean by turning up the brightness? Sorry, I've only been 1/2 paying attention to that issue, since I'm one of the unlucky (but extremely tasteful!) orange-Y2P orderers. Is that really a solution, though? That's basically only a fix if the user can stay plugged in, which, I hate to say it, is kinda not the point of a laptop.
Did they ever resolve that issue? I thought about getting the Pro 13 many times, but that wifi thing kept dissuading me - that and the price... -
I think yes it is a solution as it makes the yellows yellow again. You don't have to be plugged in for that fix at all.
-
that is very interesting, I will have to dig deeper. I jumped to the conclusion to quickly. Thanks!
Now, do you mind helping me with narrowing it down? Try killing a process one at a time and see which one breaks the keyboard lock in stand mode. Services might be worthwhile checking out too -
I am guessing it might be the dependency package but that will be just as hard to find as the transition program.

From the Lenovo employee/administrator on the lenovo support forum...
All,
I'll check to see if we have progress on Monday.
Realistically, any update (generically speaking) to BIOS or power management is going to take about 2 weeks at minimum. This considers the whole span of validating the symptoms at various levels, making iterative changes, doing regression testing (depending on what changes are made) to ensure other things aren't broken, packaging the release and then publishing to the web.
Thanks for your understanding
Mark
