I Like my Y2P just fine.... and a step back in performance isn't acceptable... Glad didn't wait...

i have the new bios and the new EM but the yellow issue still persists, Am i missing something?
-
You also need to turn the high performance mode on, if you have not already.
-
Yes i did already, but still the yellow is not yellow

When I compare the yellows on my Y2Pro screen to the image cloned to my Sony XBR TV I don't see much difference. There are subtle differences in hue as you would expect from different displays that have not been calibrated, but it's definitely not the mustard yellow we used to see.
My experience is as follows. Early days of Y2Pro - store demo units had a very distinct mustard yellow hue. Was worse on battery power than on AC power, but even on AC it was not yellow.
My Best Buy exclusive model Y2Pro out of the box had good yellows on AC, fair yellows on battery with the screen brightness above 75%, and mustard yellow on battery with screen <75%.
After initial BIOS and graphics driver updates (energy manager was already newer than version on support site) the yellows improved on battery, but were still a little off at low screen brightness.
After updating to the latest Intel graphics driver it seems to be fixed. Yellows look good regardless of power and brightness.
Energy Manager version 1.0.1.51
BIOS version 38
Intel Graphics Driver version 10.18.10.3097
Screen is now as good as can be expected from an LED lit panel that has not been calibrated. Overall I'd say the screen is a touch warm in color balance. One of these days I'll get around to calibrating it. For now it's just not "off" enough to bother. -
I only notice it when using a yellow highlighter is MS word. Photos seem ok for me.

does anyone know if I can use the a wireless keyboard and mouse when the yoga pro 2 is in a non laptop mode? Really only need it for stand mode.
If so any recommendations on wireless keyboard and mouse? As the laptop has bluetooth can I hook up the keyboard/mouse without using the usb plugin? (never used wireless accessories before) Thanks
On the yoga 3 pro, as i got my yoga 2 pro cheap was thinking of maybe switching. But as above after comparing the two processors (i have the i7) I dont want a downgrade in performance. Battery life isnt the best on the 2 but I am mostly near a power source anyways. -

Your Bluetooth keyboard and mouse should work fine if you turn off Bluetooth power management.
Device Manager > Bluetooth > Intel Wireless Blutooth... > Power Management
Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
Works great with my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard and my old MX900 mouse. I typed up this reply in Stand mode. -

May someone post a link to this: Yoga Patch
On here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-W...laptop-mode-of-Yoga-Pro-2/td-p/1504860/page/4
Feel bad for the guy and I wanna help him, however, lenovo banned my account on the premise that I was "not a productive member ". Renewing IP don't work and the proxy route is a pain. So if someone could just let the guy know, thanks.

For those of us that already have one and want more storage, the Crucial M500 480GB mSATA SSD recently dropped to $219.29 on Amazon. That's less than 46 cents/GB! -
Isn't the Crucial M500 series mSATA devices power hungry? Even at idle?

Where'd you hear that?

hello all,
ive had my Y2P for about 6 months and its been great in a lot of ways. though the biggest downfall is Windows 8.
there have been a couple issues that have been nagging me for some time:
* touchpad oversensitivity: i really like the touchpad on the Y2P, but one thing that always bothers me is the oversensitive response it has whenever i click. typically i would position the mouse where i need to click, and then when i click with my right thumb the mouse jumps half an inch from where i position it. i often have to reposition and then very consciously make sure my finger vertically clicks the touchpad in order to prevent the jump from happening again. anyone have any experience with this? i feel like the MBP touchpad (whcih is similarly full-touch) doesnt have this same issue.
* typing lag: this happens almost exclusively when i type in chrome or firefox's address bar. it seems strange since my work computer and other computers i have (which are substantially slower machines) dont have any problem. any idea what this might be? windows 8?
any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
best,

I like the Samsung evo mSATA series just because of the RAPID cache feature: A Look At Samsung Magician's RAPID Feature - Samsung 840 EVO SSD: Tested At 120, 250, 500, And 1000 GB
Samsung acquired Nvelo which produced the software to accelerate the SSD in RAM. -
True about Samsung EVO consuming much less power than Crucial.
I got a Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB a week ago for my Y2P, downloaded the newly released performance restoration software (for read speed degradation of older files in all EVO 840 SSDs) with new firmware, and couldn't be happier.
Together with Magician RAPID feature (extra RAM caching) it really makes the laptop much faster.
One additional thing to have in mind in regard to power consumption is, according to power consumption tests with EVO mSATA models done by Tom's Hardware, EVO 1 TB model consumes considerably more power than 120, 250 and 500 GB models. Just look at the third graph in that article!
And after reading few owners' reviews that their EVO mSATA 1 TB was running quite hot and causing the laptop to get hotter and fan to spin more often, I decided to go for the 500 GB version. It's cool and fast, with lower power consumption. -

Anyone got any suggestions for tweaking the settings for better quality video playback. I watch a lot of movies, and the one thing I have been bugging about on my new Y2Pro is how poor video looks. Photos look great. Windows desktop and applications look great.
Videos, on the other hand, look washed out and bland. Poor contrast and color. Almost non-existent shadow detail.
Odd thing is, when I boot into Linux video looks great at default settings, so it must be a Windows/Intel driver issue.
I've spent quite a lot of time messing with the Intel video driver settings, but I can't seem to find the sweet spot. Tried installing VLC (which is what I use in Linux). Still looks bad. Tried MPC-HC as well.
I noticed that the Intel driver settings for video don't seem to affect VLC at all, so it must use its own internal settings. MPC-HC does use the Intel driver settings.
Any help would be appreciated. Either for the Intel driver, or VLC itself. Thanks! -
Regarding the quality of the videos in Windows, I would argue that the quality is driven by the setting of the video decoders that the application is using.
I have VLC installed, but I mainly use KMPlayer and I have not noticed any bad quality playback/colors.
This is also true when watching YouTuibe 4K videos - they look stunning and the playback speed is solid. -
Is anyone facing glitches with the latest versions of graphics driver?
Nowadays my Firefox keeps getting blacked-out (the entire UI, not just in individual tabs), and my videos (MPC-BE, madVR, LAV Filters) turn black when I try to resume playing once paused... -

How to enter BIOS ? Tried F2, F12, F8, F10. What am I doing wrong?
-
NOVO button
-
Yes, the NOVO button, with the computer turned off.
-
Cellular-Decay Notebook Evangelist
With an SSD hitting the correct hot key in time is quite difficult. It just boots too fast. The hot keys do work if you can get the timing right, but as others have pointed out, the "Novo" button is the simplest way.
Just aft of the power button is a tiny round button, and that is the Novo button. After shutting down the computer, press that and the computer will power on and display a menu of options, including entering the BIOS. -
This doesn't look good for the Y3P:
The first Core M laptop paints a depressing, mediocre picture for Intelâs Broadwell | ExtremeTech
ouch! -
Yes, I read that just yesterday. It confirmed my suspicions that the Y3P is 30% slower than a Y2P with i7.
Either way, the Y3P keyboard, without function keys, is a deal-breaker for me. I certainly like my Y2P even more now...
The only positive I can think of is that the Y3P is not released to the public and there may yet be some software (BIOS) optimization that can be done to optimize performance. -

I started the community to basically spread the best that I've gathered from my own experience, from reading here and similar places so that regular folks who don't spend half their life like I do trailing through forums of every sort can get the basics covered. It's not updated often, but wife will kill me if I spend even more time in front of the computergadgetrants and Szczepanik like this. -
I am gonna be updating my Yoga Patch.... To those who use it, any suggestions?

Who can tell me the name of the Lenovo software that indicates the computer mode (Laptop, Tent, Stand, Tablet) on the screen?
I turned that off a while ago and I can't find which one it is anymore... -
Any ideas why my IE11 Metro would suddenly shrink to the taskbar and kick me back to the desktop whenever I try to launch it?
It just stays there as an open app but minimized. If I click the icon, it briefly goes full screen, with the IE logo showing then again shrinks back down.
I've made sure IE11 is default app and other Metro apps still work fine. -
Hi,
I'm in the same boat for the second time.
Try any of the Metro apps and you'll see that none of them work anymore. It happened to me after a factory reset and everything worked fine until one of the last Windows Update (I think...). After that the Windows store was corrupted.
Google: "metro apps not responding" or "not working" and you'll see you're not alone.
I have tried all the solutions I found, re-register Windows store, clean its cache, sfc scan, etc. etc. but never got it back to work. Now I live with it and would even un-install the Windows store if I could.
I hope you have better luck and if you manage to repair it, please tell me, I could give it a last try.
Good luck! -

ok guys i need your help.. i updated my video drivers today and something happened. everytime i flip my my screen over (to tent mode), my screen flashes for a second before rotating. does this happen to anyone else? anybody have a fix??
i have tried updating, reinstalling original driver, and then updating again, but i can't get it back to the way it was before where it DOESN'T FLASH before rotating. -
Hi all,
Anyone have any info on getting OEM parts? I see the part numbers all in the HMM. I generally just check eBay but there's not a whole lot there. Specifically, I'm going to need the bottom cover and new bottom cover screws. I know any I think 2x5 screw will work but I like to keep it OEM.
Does Lenovo sell direct for less than a whole new machine? -
Wireless product not working properly when also using a USB 3.0 device
http://support.logitech.com/article/38032
"When using a USB 2.0 2.4GHz wireless peripheral device (such as a mouse, keyboard, or headphones) with a PC that also has a USB 3.0 peripheral device plugged in, you may experience erratic operation caused by interference. This interference may result in delayed response to mouse or keyboard inputs missing keyboard characters or mouse commands."
Suggested solution is to move your USB 2.0 wireless receiver to the opposite side of your computer. On the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro the left hand socket (next to the power socket) is USB 3 and has a blue bar. The right hand socket (next to headphone socket) is USB 2 and has a black bar inside.
I do not have any USB 3.0 devices plugged in. My only device is a Logitech V450 Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
https://www.google.com/search?q=Logitech+v450
I prefer to have my wireless receiver plugged in next to power socket i.e. USB 3.0 so I can stand laptop on the other right hand side without wobbling. Moving wireless receiver to right hand USB 2.0 is only partially effective. Can anyone recommend another solution such as a USB 3.0 wireless mouse similar to my V450 that works consistently with Yoga 2 Pro?
Cheers
Tom

For anyone thinking about picking up the Y2P, BestBuy is listing the silver i7/8GB/256GB model for $999 on BF:
Black Friday 2014 Deals - Best Buy
I would guess they'd allow stacking the USPS (10%) mover's coupon -- though on second thought, maybe that expires late November? And don't forget sales tax.

Did anyone else's Yoga 2 Pro physical keyboard stop working after today's Microsoft patches? My keyboard is OK when I type my password to log in, but after that it is non functional. The software keyboard still works fine.
