I've been pretty darn good the last couple of months, so it should carry over to next year. At least I hope so, seeing as I have another 5 years on my contract.

I've been having some of the same issues with the cursor, both with my mouse and the trackpad. I thought maybe my usb port was having some issues, but then it started happening with the trackpad as well. The two-finger scroll on the trackpad also cuts out randomly for me too, and I have to restart the computer to get it to work again. I'm trying to remember, but I think the issues with the cursor freezing have been mostly on MS Edge, but I'm not sure if that was the case every time.

I have the same problems. With Windows 8.1 I didn't have these problems so I suspect it has to do with the W10 drivers. I'm to going to roll back and see what happens.

Update: I uninstalled the windows 10 Bluetooth drivers and installed the Windows 8.1 Bluetooth drivers solving the problem on my Yoga 2 Pro.

I did a clean install of Win10 on my Yoga 2 Pro, and get multiple blue screens every day. I've tried using whocrashed but it just tells me it's a driver that can't be identified.

Anyone have a rock solid Win10 install on their Yoga? If you do, could you run a driverquery and post the results here as a text file?

If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to revert back to Win8.. :(

Here is what I have installed. Everthing is running pretty well (at least as well as 8.1 was). Have had one BSODs soon after upgrading in early August but nothing since.
I used the Nirsoft Installed Driver List app since it also shows the version numbers. Note, that I didn't install any of the Lenovo windows 10 drivers and relied either on the windows update version (which are generally newer) or what was on the machine. Others have had better luck with the Lenovo versions. When you do get a BSOD there should be some indication on the screen of what caused it. If you can get that then post it. In any case, Hope you can get it sorted out.

Since the Kickstarter shows the Yoga 2 Pro as the computer, I'm pretty sure it will fit.

For the prices they're asking, one can get a 512GB SSD...

I like it because it doesn't stick out. I do a lot of traveling and hopefully being able to just put one of these TarDisk's in and forget about it well solve my storage problems, it's kind of like adding 256GB internal, although of course not as fast. Ended up snagging one of the 256GB early birds.

This device, while fitting perfectly in a SD slot that is not full size (like in the Y2P) will not work on a standard length slot. That may be an issue in the future if you want to move that to another computer.

Ugh, yes. I have the exact same issues. I'm getting multiple bugs with Edge on both this machine and my desktop - limited responsiveness to the mouse and keyboard, inability to close the window, but I'm stupid and have continued to use it thus far. I've been waiting for a touchpad driver update but I'm starting to wonder if it may be a Windows issue and not a driver issue. I'm also getting a lot of "you have plugged/unplugged a device from the audio jack" messages with the requisite windows tone and cutting in and out of sound, but that started before the upgrade...

I think the cursor problem lies with the touchpad driver crashing.

I ended up creating this batch file and leaving it on the desktop. Whenever my touchpad stopped working, I'd just hit win+d, and run the bat using the touch screen. The touchpad would start working again..Found it here.

Seems pretty silly. It's some sort of driver conflict.

FWIW, I gave up on my fresh install of win10, and started over with a factory reset to Win 8.1 that I immediately upgraded to Win10. Seems much more stable now.

Here's the batch file if you want it...

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 awhile back. I deleted all partitions and started completely clean. Unfortunately, I can no longer use OneKey but I have the Windows 10 media on a flash drive. Anyway, everything was working great until a few days ago. I noticed that all of the labels on my start screen keep turning black instead of white. I can't read anything. When I login with my wife's account everything is fine. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I used all of the Lenovo drivers so I'm not sure if that could be the issue. It just doesn't make sense since my wife's start screen is prefect. Really frustrating. Any ideas?? Thank you.

Doesn't sound like a driver issue since your wife's account is fine. Is it possible you're signed in on a microsoft account somewhere else, and that the settings might be getting sync'd from there somehow?

One other solution might be to back up your data, delete your account, and create a new one.

so i ended up doing a fresh install and keeping my files because of the the problems i was having. so far they are all fixed. i remember somewhere in this topic it was discussed about a problem with the auto dimming going up and down after upgrade. what was fix to this? I believe i had to go change a setting somewhere in the control panel.

edit: it may have been some battery setting possibly.

    thanks

Anybody having problems with the battery after upgrading to Windows 10? I'm getting really frustrated. One minute the battery level is at 51% and the next it's down to 7%. Any time it drops below 40% or so it shoots right down to 7%. And it's always 7. Never 10 or 6. I can't figure this out. I've tried doing a couple full to empty cycles and that hasn't helped. It can't be the battery because I barely use this machine and when I do I have conservation mode on. Any ideas?

I've seen that exact issue with my Dell M4400 battery, where it would gradually drop to 50 or 60% and then, BAM, 7%, just like you said.

I'm thinking it's more common than we realize, but I'm not sure what's causing that. It does not sound like normal wear.

    Hi everyone,

I'm running Windows 10. Is there any way to combine the partitions into 1 and delete the Lenovo recovery stuff without having to wipe and reinstall the whole operating system? I would like to reclaim that space.

Also, since I only use it in laptop mode, I've found that since disabling Transitions makes the machine run a lot quieter and faster!

    Thanks!

Hit start and type partitions. You should see a disk management app show up from the control panel. You should be able to delete/expand partitions from there.

Do you mean the Lenovo Transition app in the system tray with the orange icon? How did you disable it?

With Windows 10 should I still get notification switching between tent mode, tablet, and laptop mode? Mine no longer tells me and when using tent mode or tablet the keyboard is no longer disabled.

Have you tried resetting your Lenovo laptop? I just reset mine (using the option that preserves all user data) and it seems to be working much better now.

A reset does not preserve any apps that you (or Lenovo) installed; those will need to be reinstalled. I recommend that you only reinstall an app if you really need it (I did not reinstall any Lenovo apps btw).

Here is a link to instructions showing how to reset Windows 10 and preserve your files: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2871133/reset-refresh-windows.html

    Good luck.

Me too. I've tried an upgrade from Win 8, a fresh install of Win10, resetting back to Win 8 and upgrading to Win 10 immediately... The performance was OK, and I prefer the interface of Win10, but the trackpad issue was a drag, and I kept getting random bluescreens. I would assume a driver issue was the culprit. WhoCrashed couldn't find the offender.

Back on Win8.1 for now. At least my desktop runs Win 10 well.

I've got Windows 10 running on my Yoga 2 Pro and it's working well. This is with the newer 1511 build. When I had tried the earlier versions (preview and release) it was not a good experience.

    UPGRADE:
I first tried the upgrade, and that went pretty well. First boot into Windows 10 had it uninstall pretty much all of the Lenovo software and a few other things. Message after message popped up about how Lenovo Transistions was being uninstalled because it was not compatible with Windows 10, then Lenovo Power Management, and so on. I checked out Lenovo's site to see if there were updated versions, but nope.

Other than that, it worked pretty well. Still have the issue of it switching to tablet mode when the lid is closed, which is a big problem when I use my external monitor. Oh, and the fugly yellow color is back.

    CLEAN INSTALL:
Next, I tried a clean install. Wiped the drive completely by creating a new, un-allocated partition table and let Windows do its own partitioning during the install. All went well and Win10 was activated when I checked.

Discovered that I only had a 2 mode computer. Only tablet and laptop modes worked correctly, because the keyboard would not turn off in stand or tent modes. Flogged google and Windows help for while but found no solution, so I tried re-installing Lenovo Transistions. In spite of what Windows 10 told me when it was uninstalling it after the upgrade, it works fine. The keyboard now properly turns off when the screen is folded back a little past 180 degrees.

I've been running 10 for a little over a week now, re-installing and testing things and it's been going well. No stability issues. No blue screens. I installed the following Windows 10 drivers from Lenovo's support site.

    1. Intel Chipset Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit)
    2. Intel Graphics Driver
    3. Intel Management Engine Interface for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit)
    4. Intel Rapid Storage Technology for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 10 (64-bit)
    5. Synaptics touchpad driver

That's all so far. I haven't had the need to install any of the other drivers yet, because it all seems to be working. Wireless and Bluetooth work. USB 2 and 3 ports work. HDMI works. Speakers work. Headphones work. SD card reader works. Haven't tested the camera yet, but I know the microphone is working because I can talk to Cortana (actually, I did test the camera briefly in Skype and got an image).

Haven't done the latest BIOS flash yet. It says it's supposed to "Increase the stability of DRAM" but I haven't had any stability issues.

Still have the fugly yellows, so I may try reinstalling Lenovo Power Management, as I seem to recall that was the fix in Windows 8.1.

Now as for how Windows 10 itself is... I'm still on the fence about it. I mean, speed and stability are great (so far), it's just that the UI is so damn ugly. So flat and colorless. And integrating the Windows 8 "Metro" start screen into the start menu is just weird. I preferred running Classic Shell in Windows 8 and having a real start menu (BTW: Classic Shell was another "incompatible" thing Windows 10 auto-uninstalled after the upgrade - I haven't tried reinstalling it).

So that's my experience. It seems I've had better luck than others here. One thing to note is that I have the "Best Buy" version of the Y2Pro with the i7-4510U processor and wireless AC. Don't think that really matters, because the non-AC wireless didn't work all that well under Windows 8 either, and the CPU is only 0.2GHz faster ( http://ark.intel.com/compare/75460,81015).

Oh, and if you are a fan of Minecraft, it runs phenomenally well under Windows 10. I get higher frames per second under Windows 10 at full 3200x1800 than I got under Windows 8.1 at half resolution (1600x900) using Optifine. Seriously, it's crazy how fast it runs under Windows 10!

On my i7/8GB Yoga 2 Pro It was barely playable under Windows 8.1. I had to run at half resolution and use Optifine to get decent frame rates. Under Win-10 you don't even need Optifine. However, with Optifine I've gotten some strange lag spikes I'm still trying to sort out (seems to be better with the latest release).

    Windows 10 x64 build 1511.

    Jim G.,

I'm still on Win10 and it's still working fine. 10 seems to be better optimized for the newer hardware. Performance is very good on the Haswell powered Yoga 2 pro. I hear it's even better with Skylake, which has got me thinking of trading the Y2P for the new Yoga 900. But at this point if I'm going to spend money on a new computer I'll probably build a high powered desktop or get a custom gaming laptop.

Still digging the Yoga 2 Pro, though. It has performed much better than I expected, and Windows 10 seems to have squeezed a bit more performance out of it.

What is the final consensus on Windows 10 for us Yoga Pro 2 guys??....Only a couple more weeks left for it to be free.

Seems to me not worth the hassle. I boot to desktop on Windows 8 and everything seems to work fine.

Think I am going to pass unless I can be convinced...

I upgraded to Win10 and I like it. You may want to consider upgrading while it's still free. You can always rollback within 30 days if you don't like it. That way you will still have the option of going to Win10 for free in the future.

Just did so a couple weeks ago, and I'll vote in favor as well. A couple settings niggles and driver updates, but nothing too terribly painful for the most part so far. Seems like a better experience on net, though nothing too different as yet. Very much looking forward to using natively supported virtual desktops, however.

(Whether I will upgrade my Win 7 desktop also, well that's another matter.. leaning against there.)

I upgraded a year ago and am very happy. I did a clean install and everything works great. I see no advantage to remaining on Win 8.1 at all IMHO.

Glad I got Win10 while it was free. Win10 v1511 has worked really well for me for the last 8 months, and the upgrade to the 1607 Anniversary Edition seems to be working well also. I'll probably do a clean install to clear up the upgrade leftovers.

BTW: If you missed the free upgrade and are regretting it, you can still get it for free. MS is still giving free upgrades to people who use assistive technologies here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade. But hurry! MS is planning on shutting that page down and requiring you to contact MS support directly to upgrade (and then only if you really require assistive technologies).

I really don't understand why people didn't get it when they could. It was available for an entire year! When I first tried it, it was still pretty buggy and I ended up restoring my Win 8.1 backup. However, since I had activated Win10, I could then install it any later time and it will still activate (even a clean install with no license key). When the 1511 build was released I tried it again, and it's been working great.

I just did a clean install of the Win10 1607 Anniversary Edition on my GF's Sager NP8652 and that went well. 1511 still required a bunch of drivers for the Sager, but the new 1607 version only required the Airplane Mode driver and a quick Windows update. Everything else worked.

I'll probably do my Y2Pro either later today or tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how much better the Yoga 2 Pro hardware is supported now.

Clean install of Windows 10 1607 "Anniversary Edition" went well. No drivers needed (beyond those supplied by Windows update) and the only thing I've found not working is the Airplane mode hotkey. Not a big deal since it's easy to control from the action center. Looks like I need Lenovo Transitions again, since the keyboard only turns off when folded all the way back (same as on previous build of W10). I haven't installed it yet, but it worked before so I don't expect any problems.

I used Microsoft's Media Creation Tool to make a USB boot installer then wiped my SSD and booted from the USB flash drive.

So far it seems like it's just some changes and rearrangement of the start menu and action center and the addition of new apps and services. Not sure I like all the changes as it follows the Windows trend of hiding settings from the user. Guess it's just a matter of learning the new UI and getting used to it.

Performance and stability has been good so far.

Yoga 2 Pro "Best Buy Exclusive" version with wireless AC and the very slightly faster i7-4510U CPU.

Will you please tell us what versions of the Intel graphics driver and synoptics touchpad driver were installed?

Hey, I am new to the Forum and the thread, but have looked through many pages for info, thanks.

I have Trouble with your custom Profile. I did the Lenovo "fix" already and think I set up the Profile correctly, but when I go to use it, the Color changes immediately, but is wayy to much red! All the Whites have an almost pinkish tint, that cant be right? Any ideas as to what I am missing?

It maybe that your panel maybe from a different manufacturer than what the profile was made from.

I dont have another monitor at hand, but could try my tv,would that show the difference? As to the question about the manufacturer, are there actually different y2p generations with different displays? That would be first time I heard about that, when I have read hundreds of posts over the last year or so.
    Thanks for the replies guys
