Thanks for the reply. Do you know of any other tools for measurement of battery life? I have tried to use Battery Eater, but the "Classic" test is too severe and the "Readers Test" doesn't seem to work. The Classic test is so severe that it has no meaning for a typical light duty battery life. The Readers test appears to scroll through the file once and then stops at the bottom of the file. The rest of the test is just on idle.
My laptop got to 12 hours with 3-4 hours left when I shut it down.

    Regards, Jim

Am afraid I don't know any tool, I completely wiped mine and started from scratch, although that was mainly to reclaim as much of the HD space, as I bought the 128GB i5 4GB version. That also seemed to improve the RAM usage down to 1.9GB on initial boot including things like Microsoft Security Essentials virus scanner. The shop one showed it using 2.9GB when I was playing around with it.

I see in another thread, people with the i7 have underclocked and overclocked the processor depending on what it is doing, that may increase the battery life for you. Compared to my old Dell XPS beast with a 9 cell battery that got 2hrs I am happy with the battery life of the Yoga....

I've experienced this problem as well. I've found that using a microfiber cloths returns it to new. It doesn't go away instantly, but after a good minute or so i got the keyboard and touchpad back to new. Hope this helps people.

To clean the trackpad, try out this insane trick.... get the clear wide packing/shipping tape and tape your trackpad well. After 5 min, remove the tape (be sure to make some tabs on the edge for easy removal.

I was skeptical about this but, it works like a charm :).

Hey all, does this laptop still have problems displaying yellow after the November/December BIOS update? Does the PenTile Display cause any blurring/feathering effects like it does on Samsung's phones? Would you recommend it for someone who does some graphics work on the side?

What other problems does it have?

I have not had any issues at all. Yellow is not an issue for me but then again I updated the BIOS before looking into it. Colours seem fine for me including the display.

For graphical work it depends on the screen size, I wouldn't want to do too much work on a 13.3" screen, rather have a nice big 17" laptop so it will vary on your thoughts. Go and have a look instore.

It definitely did for me. They yellow was still very noticeably bad after the "fix". Not to mention that the "fix" affected the power management so you might be sacrificing battery life.

I don't recommend this laptop for anyone even if it's at a comparably cheap price point.

The range of problems I read about on this forum lead me to believe that returning it was a very wise decision I had made.

Also, I own the Yoga 13 and have had to send it into the depot for repair 4 times. Now I'm going to sell it.

I really believe that there is a quality control problem with these Lenovo Yoga laptops.

That sucks, was it for the same problem each time or something different?

I had to send in my Yoga 13 three times for the same problem, but after the third attempt, Lenovo replaced it with a Yoga 2 Pro.

WOAH, that's pretty crazy. I sent my Yoga 13 in three times for the same problem (touch screen stopped working), but the last time was 6 months ago and it's been fine since.

    Different problem each time.

1st problem was the battery stopped charging. The energy manager app still reported it as "Good". The depot sent it back and said they replaced the battery.

2nd time: It still wasn't charging. Had to sent it back again. The depot then said they had to replace something around the AC adapter port.

3rd time. Was freezing up whenever I started it with a USB plugged in. That time the depot said something was wrong with (and replaced) the motherboard.

I can't even remember the other time. (Maybe it was only 3 which is more than enough)

Well, read you comments and here is the input of a YP2 owner. Love the YP2, hate the problems - I'm waiting on my 4th replacement from Lenovo since Dec 2013. For those that don't know -

    1. the 4gb RAM is hard soldered and can not be replaced - same with the 8Gb. I sent the first 4Gb back and waited forever for the 8GB. Had to buy the 512SSD i7 - nothing else available - listening yet Lenovo? -- nah

    2. Bloatware is terrible, and Microsoft Account is a bear to get around on W8.1 models after Jan 2014 - disable all start up options or Microsoft will be diddling in you machine. pay attention Lenovo! Sony offers a bloatware setup option for free.

    3. The new i7 8GB had screen flicker - disabled ALS and spent hours with Lenovo tech Support trying to solve. Reinstall, new drivers, reinstall. Life is too short for these problems. Now the screen brightens incrementally on each window change - Lenovo couldn't fix and sent a new one. But I rec'd a 4GB replacement. Sent that back.

    4. Now waiting for the 8Gb replacement - seems they forgot to order it. oops "sorry" Lenovo says 400+ in the warehouse but none on the way to me. There is a complete breakdown in their order, follow-up and deliver process. Lenovo web status says "Out for Manufacturing" Delivery in June" - but the retail website says ships in 4 days for orange i7 8gb 512SSD. -

Yet, I Still like the YP2 - fast - great screen and useful. Would be nice to have one that works. Lacking Lenovo availability (listening yet Lenovo?) , I purchased the new Sony flip 14. - huge mistake. It's a brick, and broke in 2 weeks. Sony support is terrible - 16 calls - 5 hours on the phone and the best I got was "it's your problem" They finally tool took it for service - charged $80 ( yes - a 2 week old machine) and sent me back a dead machine. Best Buy actually came to the rescue and took it back.

So Lenovo it is.They obviously need to get there supply chain in order. Having the entire country of China on New Year holiday for 3 weeks didn't help. Nothing ships...

Get it together Lenovo - obviously there are consumers that want to purchase your product -- you might want to communicate with them...

I wonder if anyone from Lenovo reads this?

Screen flicker is a pretty common issue. Changing a few settings in Windows and the Intel drivers usually takes care of it for most people (there's still some discussion here of flicker at low brightness levels but it sounds like it's not too pronounced on most machines). If adjusting the settings didn't fix yours, then it was probably worth sending back. And it sucks that Lenovo seems disorganized about getting you a replacement.

Your other points seem like personal preference. Ultrabook RAM is soldered in many machines today - if you don't want that, then maybe the Yoga 2 Pro isn't a good fit for you. If you prefer not to use a Microsoft Account, you can still use a local account. Most of the 'bloatware' seemed to uninstall cleanly for me...certainly the Windows Store Apps have a really nice install/uninstall model, the one I'm not sure about is Mcafee - and you can do a clean install although I think it's a bit tricky to reuse your OEM license key.

    Thanks for your comments.

The Thinkpad has replaceable RAM. Seems to be a point of confusion at Lenovo. Varied responses - "can't remove the cover", "inaccessible" "soldered on the 4GB, replaceable on the 8GB" Finally got referred to engineering who clarified, "it's a popular question, but soldered on both the 4 & 8GB YP2 machines."

Having had three so far, its interesting to see the setup and bloatware changes. It is disappointing to see all the manufacturer's in bed with Microsoft and other software providers. Even Lenovo's pumping their own .pdf reader just to read the owners manual ($40 post trial to purchase).

After some time on the phone with Lenovo, it was clear they are painfully aware of the flicker issue. Turned off the ALS, driver updates, changed the Intel settings etc. Eliminated the constant flicker - but then the problem with the brightness "stepping up" 5-8 times on each window change.

My message on bloatware wasn't very clear. Sony has a purchase option of a "clean" Win 8.1 install - no bloatware, for free. I like the choice.

Tried a clean install on a returned machine - lots of driver issues.

Still, I enjoy the machine and look for to Lenovo solving the hardware/software? bugs. Seems to be a lot of refurbs popping up which concerns me.

Some ThinkPads have soldered RAM, some have replaceable RAM, and some have a combination of both. Are you talking about the ThinkPad Yoga? I don't own one so I haven't researched it a lot, but the reviews I read said it has soldered RAM.

Yes, during my purchase research I called Lenovo. According to Lenovo, the Thinkpad Yoga has replaceable RAM. But I have received information from Lenovo before.

I looked to corroborate this on their website, but didn't find any info.

I researched a bit further and think this is incorrect. There is documentation in Lenovo's service-training materials.

The section titled "ThinkPad Yoga Key Parts - Processor & Memory" states "Memory - Soldered on".

    Great Job -

This is the issue I have with Lenovo; there is no consistency of information, or accurate information. Very challenging for the consumer. Should the consumer have to search out the service manual to find accurate answers?

My current replacement YP2 8GB 512SSD i7 shows on the Lenovo website as shipping in 3 days. I've been waiting a week-and-half, and my Lenovo status page still shows "out for manufacturing" and delivery around May 1. Calls to Lenovo show "432 in the warehouse and 49 orders" I was told I will get a call from the team lead - but never did.

I can understand the frustration of forum users in trying to order or get accurate information - it simply does not exist, online or by phone.

I'm now 22 calls to Lenovo - on on my 5th machine. Almost all the problems are order handling or wrong machines to replace the screen flicker problem. I can only advise buyers to bug them until you get a satisfactory solution. Normally, I'd say shop elsewhere, but I do (still) find the YP2 useful.

In contrast, I ordered a Motorola Moto-X, it was here in 2 days with accurate email followup.

Several years ago I called Dell to ask whether the laptop I wanted to buy had stereo speakers. The salesperson assured me it did and described the location of each of the two speakers. When the laptop arrived it had only one speaker on the bottom.

Luckily, these days there are lots of websites doing thorough video reviews (e.g. MobileTechReview). These obviously help answer questions about external features like speakers, ports, etc. and many times they do comment about expandability of RAM and disk drive.

But I agree it would be good for the manufacturer to just tell us these things clearly up front.

Well, now a month trying to get a replacement YP2 i7 512SSD 8gb laptop that Lenovo repeatedly has advised in in the warehouse and available.

Lenovo claims it will ship this week, a claim I have heard before -- we will see. My order status still shows a shipping date of April 23 with delivery April 30th. Still showing 169 in the warehouse.

Not much confidence in Lenovo, their supply process, or their ability to handle replacements in the future.

Lenovo's audio response preamble “if having your computer up and running is important for productivity..." adds to the frustration.

Ubuntu 12.04-14.04 all work on this machine. Your WiFi card won't work from the start. You can go to terminal and type "sudo rmmod ideapad_laptop" to get your WiFi running. If you don't wanna do that every time you boot, just blacklist the command.

I'm still trying to get #! To work since I'd really rather use that

I have recently bought myself the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro after reading several reviews of this ultrabook. I must say I'm pretty satisfied with it and I didn't expect it to be this "stable" :)

Hi all, just installed Windows 10 build 10041 and the high dpi scalling seems quite ameliorated, anyone try a deep test with it ?
