Blast! All the ones I like are sold out!!!
Anyways the last rep told me that they all come with the default 1 year warranty regardless of what they originally had. I didn't ask if you can upgrade it though.

I've called in to ask about these several times, but since I can't devote more than 30 minutes to a single call before people start wondering why I'm not answering my phone, I never can get through to anyone. Are telephone wait times usually so long with Lenovo?

Anyway, how often is the outlet restocked? I'm sure that website isn't updated all that frequently, but is the actual supply of outlet notebooks constant?

Last two updates were on Tuesdays after noon.
Good luck to the next group, hope you get a better deal than me.
Well, not so much, but a great deal anyway.

OS Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium - US English
    Memory 2x1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory

Thanks for the link. It saved me at least $400,- off EPP pricing and I don't know how much off standard pricing.

Now the hard part is waiting for it to arrive at my door step.

Yep. I finally got someone on the phone and was told the same. They all carry a 1-year depot warranty, and upgrades would have to be handled through the warranty department (post-sale, I assume).

I'll be checking back to see when they next update the list. I've got my eye on a cheap (~$800) T61 to see how it stacks up against the Vostro I'm currently using.

    I'm getting rather jealous now.

Hope someone makes a post documenting their impressions on their depot thinkpads once they got their hands on it. Can't wait to hear all the horror stories...j/k :p

why everybody take 14.1 monitor? 15.4 is much better I think :)
I just choose 16 models, and was calling today. Waiting on the line lasting 25 minutes, than I finally got manager. Almost all of those 16 variants were sold out - probably I had outdated list... But finally we found a good deal for 819$... Shipment by the way cost 10$ - but it was told that it would be free...
Just worried about videocard - Intel GMA X3100 GM965 - can anybody provide info about it? Can I play games using this?

yeah you should be able to play games no prob, albeit not at full graphics but it would definitely kick the ass off the old integrated graphics.

Let me just say this about these warranty claims.
My laptop shows 3yrs on the lenovo website and 3 years on the outlet list and my rash prediction is that I have a three year warranty.

Believe me, I hope you're correct. If it says you have a 3-year warranty on the warranty lookup page, I'd tend to believe it. That doesn't change what the salesperson told me, but it may just mean that he really didn't know the answer to the question. :)

How much quicker are the shipping times from the outlet verses if I order one? I was going to order a new laptop, but my HD in my T40 died today, so time is of the essence.

I can’t stand the 15.4” because it’s too big and heavy to be portable. 14’ is a good compromise between size and portability and easier to use as a true laptop. Also, the 14” seems so much more solid – no flimsy feeling plastic flex on the palmrest.

It just depends on your needs/use, however.

exactly..there's much more 'hollow' space in a 15 in resulting in more flex versus a 14 in....and i believe it's more durable (i have had both..returned the 15") since there is less torque involved when picking it up from any corner..simple physics

Since my 09/25 order that was due to ship today (10/12) was pushed-back to 10/30, I called up and was able to grab a similar set up (with more RAM and larger HDD) for $300 less!

My suggestion is to dump the list in excel and filter it for the things you want. The rep and I went through about 20 part numbers before we found one in stock.

    Good Luck!

I ordered a T61p from the site on 10/10 with an ESD of 10/17... Is there anyone here who has ordered from the lenovo outlet site and has received their laptop by now or has a status other than "In Process"?

I received my T61p today eventhough I never received an email with shipping or tracking infomation and the order status still shows that it is "In Process". It was a very nice surprise to have it arrive today... ordered 10/10, ESD 10/17, received 10/16.

It was kinda weird, but I was thinking that since it since it was shipped and received inside of North Carolina had something to do with it??? When it came I had just got off the phone with Lenovo about my order. Also, I checked the order status site this morning for my order and it still shows "In Process".

man and my C.C. still hasnt been charged yet, its still pending charges. Thats not good :(

Edit: I just got off the phone with my sales rep and they say that these types of orders are all done manually so its not uncommon for the product to be shipped and not be updated on the site. So even if the ESD says something, it doesnt mean that it is going to ship on that day. He says that it usually takes 5 business days after the payment goes through?

I don't know what the deal is with orders made for items in the outlet. I placed an order last Friday (10/12) and I have had charges pending on my card for two days, and still no word if it has shipped or not. What kind of delivery results have others had from outlet items?

yeah...I have had pending charges on my credit card for about a week already. And I have plenty of funds. So yeah...kinda weird.

As for the discrete graphics...it either says integrated or nVidia quadro on it. that would tell you if its discrete or not.

How much is the warranty upgrade and is it possible to get accidental protection on a depot system?

Also, how to tell if there is the finger print option on a depot system?

Finally what about the smart card? How to tell?

Thanks. PS where on the website does it say the systems are new? I dont see that on the outlet site! Thanks in advance!

Interested in a great deal on Lenovo's latest technology? A new, "pre-built" Lenovo notebook or desktop might be exactly what you're looking for. These are new Lenovo PCs that were ordered and then cancelled or returned unopened. These systems carry full warranties.

Has anyone that has ordered during the week ending 10/12 recieved theirs yet?

Ordered mine 10-11. Esd was originally 10-17, then 10-24, now 10-30. I've called twice and am only told "cc hold" They are supposed to return my call but that did not happen. My cc company tells me there have been no attempts by lenovo to charge me. Calling this morning and not getting off the phone until I have an answer, or cancel order.

it can't really be empty..or your comp wouldn't work ..but if they didn't fill it in, it is probably the x3100 since that is the cheaper card. I am sure if it was the upgrade; they would market that so they can sell it for a higher price

No it does not mean its X3100. You can do a parts lookup which was covered in detail on pages 2 and 3 of this thread. With the parts lookup page you can even tell if the system comes with the X3100 or a dedicated Nvidia card. Presumably you can even tell if the Nvidia card is a 140M (which makes it a non-p model) or the 570M (making it a T61p) as the outlet page do not differentiate between 'p' and 'non-p' models. All that info is already covered in this thread.

for example: on this model with the part number 645L3A2860 listed on the outlet page which doesnt have vid card listed, I can tell its a T61 with a Quadro 140M.

yes you have to call that number during bussiness hrs for outlet models. Only custom configured models are done online.

Very nice, but good grief, they're makig us work for it with the crude layout on this page. For those that don't already know -

    1. Go to the page from IE
    2. Right-click, select "Export to Excel"
    3. When the spreadsheet opens, go to Data-> Auto Filter

Now you can quickly and easily sort and filter to your heart's content, and keep your sanity.

I tried to do that but there are no product code on the outlet page and I tried to find information for 645L3A1721 and 645L3A2884 by using L3Axxxx as serial number and try all numbers from 6450 to 6459 as type and nothing shows up.
