The parts lookup page seem to be unavailable atm. Happened shortly after I tested with my example which was fine then. But it stopped working shortly after that. I can't even look up the warranty status or parts of my own system. Hopefully it'll be back.
btw for product code its easier just going to lenovo's online site and pick the system you want, from there you can tell what product code you're looking for , then match it with the ones on the outlet page ie if its 6459 model - you want 645* product numbers on the outlet page.

Anyway, I've been pondering all day and decided I'm not giving them my money. It's my wifes lappy anyway. Bought a sony tonight. Got it from costco with better specs and free 3 year warranty. Best part is she is happy because she thinks she picked it out on her own.
Got to call lenovo back tomorrow and cancel. Just can't deal with a company that has their head shoved that far up their arse. -
Took the liberty of looking up those 2 part numbers you listed ( 645L3A1721 and 645L3A2884 ). They're both LG lcds and both have Quadro 140M (T61). Pretty sure about the LG but as to the vid card that's my best guess. -

Are all the wuxga screen t61 models t61p? With the 570 fx? Is that the only way it was sold?
Id like to add that the advice on the model number of the outlet coinciding with the model number of the regular t61p is incorrect. -
The part numbers shown on the first column of the outlet page is a combination of the model type and the serial #. ie for 645L3A1268, the serial is L3A1268 and the model number is 6459 (since there's only one possiblity with 645*, and other model numbers should share that characteristic also). All wuxga's I've seen on the outlet have part numbers starting with 645... -
look over the list
the model number for t61p is 6459
some models that are t61 start with 645
some models that are t61p start with 646.
all the t61s and t61ps start with those 2 numbers. There is no difference you can tell from the two based on the first 3 numbers. -
i'm hoping this list will be updated... i wanna get in on an x61s deal gah!

The 645 numbers are for T61p and some T61's like you've pointed out. So how can you tell between a 6459 with 140M ( T61) vs a 6459 with 570M(T61p)? That's what my previous posts in this thread were about. Using the parts look up you can tell which quadro card you have and as a result whether the system is a T61 or T61p.
Since I've seen this asked often I'll rewrite everything here again starting from the beginning:
On the outlet page each model is listed by a 10 letter Part Number ie.645L3A3649. The last 7 letters are the Serial Number. The first 3 letters are part of the 4-digit model number and that is enough to determine the actual model number, in this case it's a 6459 model number and L3A3649 Serial number.
With the Model number and Serial Number you can use the Parts Lookup page to look up the FRU #'s. So you can find out if you're looking at a LG or Samsung screen, a chicony or alps or NMB keyboard. To find out which FRU# correspond to which part, that's covered in other threads dedicated for that or just use Google.
One quirk of the outlet page is it doesn't differentiate between T61 and T61p models as they both have 6459 and 8891 model numbers. All 6459 models come with Quadro cards - the Quadro 140M, Quadro 570M(128Mb) or Quadro 570M(256Mb). Only the T61p's come with the 570M(128mb or 256mb depending on the screen size). The T61's that have 646 numbers are all systems with X3100 video immediately ruling those models out as being T61p. The only question here is which of the 6459 models are T61's and which are T61p's? To further complicate matters the 14.1" T61p's and certain T61's both share 8891 model numbers. So how to know which is which?
Luckily the answer may be in the parts lookup page. More specifically the FRU# under ""SYSTEM PLANAR; FRU PLANAR CARD ASM NVIDI". If it says INTEL instead of NVIDIA its a X3100 card, automatically making it a 'non-p' model. It's possible that by looking up the FRU# of that part, one can tell if the system is T61p or T61.
btw all WUXGA's are T61p's by default so this will mainly help those looking for non-WUXGA systems and to determine if the systems on the outlet page are T61p or a T61.
Here're the FRU#'s that correspond to their respective vid cards:
On the 14.1",
FRU 42W7650 = 570M (T61p, model# 8891)
FRU 42W7649 = 140M (T61, model# 8891).
On the 15.4",
FRU 42W7653 = 570M (T61p, model# 6459)
FRU 42W7652 = 140M (T61, model# 6459).
I must state that the above is by no means 100% confirmed but so far from the info I've gathered that seems to be correct. If there are any errors or corrections with any of the info here please post them or PM me. -
Lenovo is lost! Got tired of the waiting/excuses and canceled my order over a week ago for an outlet pc. Today I find a UPS delivery notice on my door. Lenovo shipped my pc anyway. I called my credit card and no charges.
Strange turn of events. I Should I hold onto this pc until they contact me to get it back, much as they do to their customers? -
Just to let you know murphy...Lenovo ships its outlet products manually. The website does not update. I got my laptop from the outlet in 8 days after ordering and i didnt even know it shipped, it just showed up on my door.
-
I knew lenovo was not so good at updating their website. I canceled 10-25, and the pc shipped 10-29.
lenovo outlet just restocked-ymmv
