I've thought long and hard about it. They're so cheap right now. I'd really like to have a card reader and a brighter screen, but I really prefer the SXGA+ screen and a 14" notebook. SXGA+ isn't available on the R series any more and I don't know that the Penryn offers me much performance wise since I'm not a power user.

 

Ordered T61 on 3/19 and just received ship confirmation 3/22! I don't know if to be happy or worried!

 

Everything okay with it? My original ship date was 4/7 but shipped today 3/22. Makes me wonder if they're not tweaking refurbs/open box and shipping them out....

Just for reference, ordered my R61 CTO on 3/7/08, shipped on 3/10, arrived at my door on 3/14. Not bad considering I ordered on Friday, got processed on Monday and received the following Friday.

 

Update: Just got confirmation, my laptop shipped. 3/22/08

 

I don't remember exact dates, but ordered an R61i in December, arrived within 10 days.
Ordered an R61e in late February, arrived within a week.

Ordered mine on February 4th, recieved it that following Monday, February 11th. Pretty fast turn around for a new, custom Penryn build at the time. Penryn had just hit the sheets around that time I believe.

tikijojo.. that is awesome.. mine still hasnt updated and states the same estimate on shipping date.. anyone else in the list chime in.. it looks like its less then a week from order to ship to receive.. give or take a few.. i wonder if options makes a big difference.. i hope mine updates today.. im still waiting to see it shipped..

Ordered on 3/9. Initial estimate of shipping date was 3/27. Now it's 4/14.

 

hah.. i got my 2gb corsair stick from newegg on Monday.. im still waiting for my R61 to ship.. cmon lenovo.. ship my thinkpad..

 

I went back to my apartment for Lunch and my R61 was sitting there b/c it was an Express shipment. My RAM won't come until around 5-6PM when the regular UPS Ground shipments arrive in my area -- but that will be just in time when I get off of work!

By the way, the corner of my case where it says "Thinkpad" rattles when I tap on it or lay my hand down when I am typing....the case appears to be loose. Anyway else have this problem? Not sure if the case is supposed to have some flex, but my T40 at work has no problems with this. I am thinking I might have to send it back as it will begin to annoy me. So much for the Lenovo build quality, or quality assurance that is.

I got paid on Thursday, so I ordered a Advanced Mini Dock at 9am... it posted my ESD as 3/28 which is today... now it is pushed back to 3/31 lol

I think they just give themselves a nice little window... I am hoping it doesn't take 4 days to ship a product they should have sitting in a box on the shelf.

 

DJ... did you get a 14" or 15.4" screen? also how much was the dock station btw

 

I got a 15.4" WSXGA+

The dock was ~$150 after 8% Cash Back from FW

I have got confirmations from FW on both my laptop and dock purchases saving me a total of like $70 off an already cheap, but powerful system.

I think I spent about $900 total, dock included... Couldn't ask for anything better for the price

 

Yeah FW is nice but it takes forever to get that money back.. I just got mine back and I bought my laptop in December.
