nice.. i was thinking of getting one but i got a home HTPC box that i use and then at work i have a dual core server.. so i think i'll hold off.. but its funny how most of us are FW'ers always looking for a good deal.. im usually surprised when i forget what i bought thru fatcash and then check my account months later and im like.. NICE... cant wait.. i'll prob have mine on tuesday..

just tracked my r61 and it says its on the way to louisville, KY from alaska.. but it hasnt updated since saturday.. i called ups they said its held in customs right now but should be delivered by thursday this week.. we shall see

I keep emailing them and they don't respond. I kind of gave up with them.

 

Mine took three weeks March 9 ordered and delivered March 31. Took two weeks to ship and one week to get built.

The only thing I think may be causing the delay is the bluray drive. I also skipped the finger print reader, maybe that has an impact?

 

you are right.. i wonder if it was the blu-ray drive... i bet thats it.. i skipped the fingerprint reader too.. i dont need that and i can get around it anyways.. had a bunch of customers bring in their laptops for us to work on i just disable it anyways

Well, I did not order Blu-ray, yet it still takes over a month. I ordered on 3/9, and the estimated shipping date is 4/14 as of today.

 

I just ordered one R61 for the supervisor lady at my work. It shipped 2 days later, and 3 days later she got it. So it's about a week waiting.
I was impressed.

 

Gah, ordered an R61 15.4" on 3/9 along with a backpack, bluetooth mouse, and LoJack. Original shipping date was set for 4/3 for all 4 things. Just looked again, and now it's at:

Backpack: 4/3
LoJack: 4/9
Mouse: 4/16
R61: 4/21

Hooray for another 3 weeks delay for my laptop.

 

I just ordered mine, which is technically April 3rd.
Hope I'll get it in about a week like everybody here.

from our lil experiment from few weeks ago.. it seems 75% get shipped within a few days.. some however if you change something from default get delayed a lil bit.. i know on mine i chose dvdr burner instead of cdr/dvdrom.. thats probably the delay on mine (maybe)... i know my estimate ship days went from 4/4 to 4/8 but then mine actually shipped on 3/27 and should be delivered today after sitting in customs in louisville.. i just tracked it and it was on the way to the shipping hub that always delivers my ups packages last night.. so hopefully it will update this morn and show out for delivery.. i will add everyone else's info when i get to work today..

 

My laptop finally shipped. Lenovo's site says it shipped 4/2, UPS says 4/3 but there is no tracking info or delivery date yet.

When I ordered the original estimated ship date was 4/3, which was pushed back to 4/10. I'm not sure why the changed it to 4/10 since they met the original date.

I'm guessing it will arrive on Monday.

you are welcome.. i just wanted to try to keep track and see what kind of consistency would show from lenovo's order date to actual shipping date..

which reminds me.. UPS delivered my R61 around 3:30pm today.. of course to my work.. so i just barely got a chance to plug it in and let vista setup.. and i just now got home at 9pm so im just now checking it over.. so far its very fast and i haven't removed anything except windows live toolbar..

so mine finally came in im going to have plenty of time tomorrow to play with it and i will take some good pics and post tomorrow my conclusion on what i think of it.. my initial thoughts.. its pretty awesome.. i just got done installing the 2gb mem i bought from newegg.. rebooted.. no probs.. more to come tomorrow night..

 

My R61 arrived today...

Just a few impressions.
1) This is a very solid machine. Several steps above my HP dv6244. Pretty thick too...
2) I was somewhat concerned about screen quality, but it is outstanding, plenty bright and vibrant.
3) The speakers are horrible.
4) It did not ship with Vista SP1, and was pretty out of date with updates.
5) Machine is quiet, no CPU whine.
6) The touch pad could be larger.


I'll be getting a new HP 6910p at work this week. It will be interesting to compare it to the R61.

 

UPS guy attempted to deliver it today. I missed him. Contacted Lenovo and they arranged for me to pick it up at the UPS store later on this evening.

 

Just received an E-mail update that our Lenovo was shipped tonight (4/16)--2-day. We'll see. Very exciting!

 

I received mine 4/9.

 

I ordered my R61 14.1" on 4/7 and it is due to arrive at my house on 4/18. I guess there is no canceling it now, lol. Wasn't sure if I should replace my dv2000t or not from HP - going to turn it in for warranty service and I don't want to be without a notebook for 1-3 months (motherboard has heat issues and HP sometimes takes 3 months to replace it ;p).

I think it's normal.
Having the status as "In process" is when they build the laptop, I believe. Though, you should probably call to ask what's holding the laptop up (shortage of parts, etc).

I ordered my R61 on 4/13, estimated date of 5/02 and is still "In process."
Lenovo should hurry up and ship all of our laptops already!

i have a question, when i was ordering the laptop, there was two form of shipping available and they were both free, which is actually better? i think the two option was usps and 2 day shipping. i opted for the latter one was i was pretty skeptical when i saw that they were both free.

 

i think if you us usps you have to be there to sign for it or something, thats the catch. more secure, but slower.

I'm waiting until my husband gets home so we can open it together--so I haven't officially opened the package, but I will say this: I chose two-day shipping and it was exactly how it happened, no more; no less. Plus the package is really light...about 5.0 kgs. And the box was not beat up or in bad shape at all. Not bad for being shipped from half way around the world in two days.

My R61 has finally started shipping, except I got an "exception" from UPS, and apparently it was taken off of the export flight . Either way though, I first ordered on 3/9/08, just started shipping on 4/18/08. Anybody know why it the airline offloaded the packages?

By the ultranav, it makes no reference of a fingerprint scanner, yet I remember ordering one. Did it somehow get pushed off, or am I just totally not seeing it?

Edit: Apparently they were having some really bad weather in Hong Kong or something, though it took about 14 hours for UPS to show that :| . Either way though, hopefully it arrives soon!
