The Lenovo reseller (in India) from who I bought my R400 very recently told me that a 3-year onsite international warranty is standard on all 'business class' machines. When I asked him what he/Lenovo considered 'business class' machines, he said, the entire ThinkPad line.

When I checked on the Lenovo website (in India) with my machine's model number, I found that at least in my case what the reseller said was true. I should also add that a helpful member of NBR kindly explained to me how to go about checking this info.

    Cheers!

You might wanna check the IBM order status database

My shipping date is also blank on the Lenovo Order status, but shipping is scheduled for March 22nd on IBM.

Wow I just checked the IBM order status database instead of the lenovo one and it seems to have more information. Like everyone else the lenovo check has a blank estimate shipping and status: in process. However with the IBM order status the status says scheduled to ship! Is that for everyone though? Can someone check the ibm order status and see if theirs says the same?

i was thinking the same thing b4 made my order, cuz i never used the card reader or the modem. but it's not an option to make a change on that...
i'll dismantle the machine and unplug that module, throw it away...
maybe you can ask the sales rep, doesn't hurt to ask.

from IBM database, i got a result. the estimated ship date is the same as b4: 03/17/2010

and the status "Scheduled to ship" really made me happy for a while, i figured my machine is ready to ship.....
but then i checked the status explanation:

    In process
Your order for this item has been received in our system and is being processed.

    Scheduled to ship
The entire quantity of the item has been scheduled to ship.

    Accepted by source of supply
The entire quantity of the item has been accepted by the source of supply and has been placed in the build queue of a specific plant.

    In manufacturing
The entire quantity of the item is being built.

    Shipped
The entire quantity of the item has shipped from the plant.

just realized that my laptop hasn't been manufactured yet...the order just went through 2 of 5 steps b4 leaving their factory....it's been 6 days since i made the payment, but they haven't put my order in the build queue, what the heck....

don't be happy until you see the status "in manufacturing"..i guess it'll only take 2 or 3 days to manufacture, at that point your machine will be very close to ship...but i dont understand why these people waste so long time before they send the order to the factory!

I've ordered mine using myus.com, they received the money and now they are processing the order. I believe Lenovo has to use a US credit card so I am not able to supply and have to pay their 5% services for personal shopper. Cross the finger I hope they are doing the right thing.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone know how to carry over the win 7 lenovo theme to a new clean install of win 7? I've copied the theme over from c:\windows\resources...searched the web and even used something called a "patcher" and still no go..

Crumbled and got bored of waiting for Arrandale Macs to come out, and the 10% off from Lenovo was too much to resist.

Just ordered an i5-540m, 2Gb (will upgrade to 8Gb when 4Gig sticks drop a bit), 320Gb 7200 (to be replaced with an SSD when they reach 3rd gen), 9 cell, 3G WWAN, touchpad and fingerprint.

Looking forward to using a Thinkpad as my main personal machine, only thing i think i'll miss about my Mac is the trackpad size.

As has been said many times already, there is a shortage of the low voltage core i 7's right now, so any notebook that has that has been temporarily pulled from Lenovo's site. :)

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snotty, but it has been mentioned quite a bit here already. ^^ :) Some have speculated that it could be 4 or more weeks until supply is replenished, we don't really know right now. :)

No worries -- I usually check before I post, but not this time for some reason... Anyway, that's a shame. I was going to propose a computer upgrade to a X201t to my bosses, but if there's nothing to buy, there's nothing to propose.

A little bit off topic: Since the X201t probably won't be available for a while, are there any other tablets (or even just notebooks) with good quality 8-bit screens that maintain color accuracy across wide viewing angles? That was the biggest selling point for me with the X201t. To be honest, I'm not even sure I want a tablet -- I just want the high quality display!

I honestly don't know if the screen is 8 bit (I'm sure others could say), but I'd suggest the X200T, it's still available. You can read the review here if you like. It got high marks for it's screen quality and is apparently an IPS screen.

To those who are thinking of getting a x201T, don't get the multitouch screen, if you want better viewing angle.
