Just received my case from Meritline for $5.99 shipped.

12'' Black/Red Laptop Notebook Reversible Sleeve

Pretty good fit. The case isn't designed really for the X220, the bulge downward from the 6 cell and the little rubber fit on battery provide some friction when sliding it into the case, but nothing that's really a big deal.

I was just looking for something when I take the X220 out of the house, and this will work perfect for occasional use. If I were to look for something that I'd use daily and want better quality, I would look elsewhere, but for $6 you really can't go wrong.

I've been searching a long time too. At this point, I think I might just purchase the WF sleeve. I'll let you guys know how it fits if I end up getting it.

You know it's funny, I swear they had separate 6- and 9-cell ones last time I checked. It might be worth calling them about it since they seem so proud of their custom fits.

Just got a response back from WF.

On your x220: unlike any other device, this one has bedeviled me. Specs we've received from customers differ from the mfr specs, so if you would (once again) haul out that tape and let me know your measurements, I can better guide you. If you happen to have a soft tape measure (like the ones Ikea gives out), knowing the horizontal and vertical circumferences is also a help. (We can infer them from h x l x d, if needed.)

Just received the sleeve and it fits PERFECTLY, just like it was meant for the 6cell version of the x220. Highly recommended, get it if you want the perfect sleeve! I ordered the Blue/Black btw.

Just as good as any of the other sleeves you can get at staples, bestbuy, etc... highly recommended! The black blue above is reversible, the blue is actually darker than the picture shown.

I am out for the whole day so won't be able to get it till tomorrow, but as i said it fits PERFECTLY. Completely conforms to the entire X220 without any wasted space and without being too tight. Doesn't take much effort to put it on either (was scared of it being too small). As i said if you want a sleeve that was practically made for the 6-cell version of the x220, this is the one to get.

    Hi all,

Just want to share the sleeve that I bought. http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160612616516&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT.

This was suggested by one of the forummers over here but there was no feedback as to if this sleeve fits or not. Well, I jumped at getting it and finally received it after 2+ weeks.

It fits the X220 really well as it is snug and tight. Photos are below:

As you can see, I am using the 6-cell and I just have to pull the top flap tighter and it is a snug fit. If I had the 9-cell, it would fit nicely as well.

    Cheers!

I have a Lenovo backpack that just fits the X220. The backpack is too slim for me and is now stuffed somewhere in my storeroom. :)

If you want, I can take some photos of it.

Mine arrived and I definitely agree that there is no wasted space whatsoever. Not sure about being loose enough though but maybe that's just my tastes.

    Anyone else received one? Lol

For those looking for snug-fitting sleeves, two more choices with free shipping around the world:

Stylish Protective Soft Bag for 12" Laptop Notebook - Black - Free Shipping - DealExtreme (also available via Amazon US, though not in black: Amazon.com: Cosmos Gray Neoprene/Cotton 12.1" 12" inch Laptop notebook computer case/bag/sleeve for other laptop brand - Samsung DELL HP TOSHIBA SONY ASUS ACER LENOVO GATEWAY Samsung+ Cosmos cable tie: Electronics)

13.3" Sleeves/Bags for Mac Book and Other Laptops Notebook with Flap, Neoprene Material.

I bought both sleeves and they are quite different, but either is fine. They are both pretty tight: you definitely need both hands to put the laptop in, though I'm pretty sure that with enough use they will stretch.

The first one is thicker (made of 6mm/0.25" neoprene), but pretty "foamy", i.e., it compresses easily. It won't fit x220 with a 9-cell battery; I use it with 4-cell, but 6-cell should fit too. The laptop sticks out a little (1cm/0.4"), but closing the flap secures it. There is a larger (13.3") version of this bag, but it's 3.5cm/1.4" longer so I fear it would be too large.

The second sleeve is half as thick as the first one, but made of a firmer material. It's similar to the one from post 64, but without a Thinkpad logo and, judging by the pictures, possibly a little smaller still (and, importantly, much cheaper :D). It is suitable for either of the three batteries. It had a bit of a "tire shop" smell when new, but it mostly dissipated by now (the first bag had hardly any smell).

Well, I bought one of the above-mentioned ones (photos post 65) and it's so tight I cannot even fit the X220 into it! It's back to the drawing board for me. Looking for one a bit looser...

Yup, pretty happy with my sleeve that I posted up (#64). The only small niggles that I have with it are:

    1. It STINKS when new!
    2. The stitching along the sides of the sleeve can be better.

    Cheerio!

The regular sleeve, unfortunately, sucks. The width is reasonably OK, but it's way too deep, even with the 9-cell battery.

Don't feel too bad about it, though. A number of us fell for it too.

My 13" zeroshock III case from my old laptop fits the x220 w/ 9-cell almost perfectly. It has a little wiggle room, but due to the properties of the case (hard memory foam) it doesn't slide around.

I use a Timbuktu messenger bag and am contemplating sleeves / envelopes for my (hopefully) soon to arrive X220.

    In the running:

    Goldschlagers Carpet

    Cache

    Aerostitch

Which ever I end up with will be better than the piece of closed cell foam I currently have stuffed into the bottom of my bag, "protecting" my T42...and of course, I'll post for 'ya-all to see my awesomeness.

Could you please post some pictures. The ones on Amazon website make it look extremely cheap, thin and bad quality. Is it really that bad? It looks like there is no padding at all, and with it being 13.5", there could be an in inch of space on one side and it can move around.

Do you have one of them, can you post a picture, I could only find pictures of 17" model and it is pretty thick. And if they really cost +$100, forget about it.

    --
This topic seem to be an excellent resource for someone who is looking for a sleeve, but is there another one that covers the bags? I need something with at least one pocket or a little bit space where I can store a 5-10 pages of documents, short USB cord and pair of pens and few business cards. It should have an handle so I can carry it with me and should be waterproof or resistant in case it rains.

Another question, what do you guys do with these sleevs/cases? Do you just keep your laptop in it and throw it in another bag? Or carry it around like a folder? I might have another solution, I have this: Samsonite Underarm Portfolio with Retractable Handles and X220 fits perfectly in it, like a glove, but when I put a few extras in the front, it pushes against the lid and it gets a bit tight in there. If I use a sleeve, it will be even tighter, and with handles pushed it, it will not be safe for the screen. However, it works well for temporary solution for the time being. I can post a few pictures if anyone is interested.

    Edit:
While searching for a link of what I have above, I found this:
Samsonite Aramon NXT 13" MacBook Shuttle - eBags.com If I can find a retail location with these, it can be the perfect fit. Although hard to tell how much space is in those front zipper compartment.

One of the big Victorinox bag was stolen along with my X301 + MBP 13 inch laptop. I still have another one that is smaller and have two pockets, i will post the picture next week. But i don't think you would find even the cheapest one below $100 dollars, they are quality stuffs and i guess they have a price to match its quality reputation.

Resurrecting an older thread, but thought I'd share because it is really hard to find a good sleeve for the X220.

Yesterday, I picked up the following:

    Prostyle Sleeve I - Black/Copper | Brenthaven.com

Got it at Best Buy in Canada. Seems to be a close-to-perfect fit for 6-cell equipped X220. The battery depth bulges just a bit. Internal depth of the sleeve is listed as 1.25" and if it was 1.5", this would be perfect.

But I'm neurotic about this sort of stuff. Wife tells me it is a perfect fit. Anyway, figure I'd share for those still looking.

For anyone looking for a simple, yet great fitting case for the x220, this one that was previously recommended in post 78, is perfect. It fits snug with my 6-cell battery and X220. The only downsides were that it took 4 weeks to arrive, and when they packaged it, it was folded in half and then quarters. So it'll probably get to you with some crease lines, but that's not really a big deal IMO. I ordered mine in black and love it. Plus, it's only $7.10!!!

I got this case which is the same as the one recommended in #94
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058N5TD2/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details

and I can say you have to stretch it real well for the velcro to close. Annoys me big time.. BTW I too have x220 with 6 cell. Read feedback on Amazon and you will see others are having the same issue.

Is there another decent case out there that fits snug and is not too expensive?

Can highly recommend the fit and construction of this small Case Logic case if you want carry power supply, battery, etc.
Case Logic VNA214 14.1-Inch Laptop Attache The price has been reduced to $18!

A number of people have mentioned the Waterfield bags from sfbags.com. I have one, that fits well, that I had originally bought for another laptop. I have the "13-2 SleeveCase" model. While this case, first picture attached, is a good fit, provides good protection, is easy to use and has a pocket, I cannot recommend it. The reason is shown in the second picture; after a flight to London where it was in a backpack's laptop pocket (i.e. nylon), it got covered with these little burrs. I was easily able to remove them with a lint remover but that seemed weird to me. People kept on commenting negatively on my case. I suppose these "burrs" or "furriness" really shouldn't happen too often though.

Another hit and miss.. tried "rooCASE Neoprene Sleeve Case Cover for Lenovo Thinkpad X220" sold on Amazon. The sleeve is very thin and, no, it is not made for x220... too big. I read some good things about Targus A7 12 inch sleeves.. Per reviews, it should be a perfect fit for X220.

Received the Targus A7 12 inch case from J&R today. Very happy, great snug fit for x220 with a 6 cell. Just like the reviews say, it's so snug that the battery end has to go in first, otherwise you won't be able to close the zipper. Even if the zipper goes bad, it comes with a lifetime warranty, so I am not too worried.

I just use the old Case Logic sleeve that I used for an old Mac that is now collecting dust. Throw it in the sleeve and then in the padded laptop compartment of my backpack or just throw in my leather briefcase, and I find that it is more than enough protection for travelling around and about. I don't try to baby my TP like I did with my Macs. I found that it has made me less OCD and more calm. :)

I picked up the Victorinox Wainwright 13 Architecture 3.0 bag. Expensive, but fits my X220t with the 9 cell and 19+ battery just fine (plus I feel it be safe in there in case of a fall). Plenty of room.

As for a sleeve, I am using a Speck PixelSleeve 15 which also has plenty of room for the 9 cell (although it's not a snug fit)

Highly recommend the Wainwright 13, kinda recommend the PixelSleeve
