    Positive.

Please note I have a different BIOS version to the one you mention in post #26.

In any case I thought Vista should intercept the BIOS call and show me the full drive size ?

    Any ideas anyone ?

    Hi guys,

I have a LG S1 Express dual (s1-mduoz). It cames with an HDD of 100gb.
I bought one HDD of 120Gb but I can't boot using it. The laptop enter in a endless loop. (Temporally I made an external case with it)

Does if an updated my BIOS I can use my new HDD?

Can anyone send me the newer version of LG BIOS for this laptop?!

    Thanks a lot
    Marcos

    Hello there ...

I have a P1 as well and was quite unhappy that there was no Bios upgrade available. (I bought a WD-320GB and had nothing but trouble)

I have DL the Bios Disk (huge thanks to the poster!!!!) after disappointing talks with the LG-Support (basically a waste of time)

So here is my question to you and anyone else reading this:

    1. How do I flash the Bios to a higher version (I have RKYWSF0B) with the boot disk?

There is an option where you have to enter the serial number or model, but I can't figure out what I have to type in)
(the program rejects my input) :(

    Cheers from London,

    Andrew

    Hello!

I have updated the bios on three P1 (two different models) and one F1 following this procedure. I have used the model name format P1-XXXX and 13 digit serial number as in the procedure.

    BIOS/EC Flash Process
    1. Insert Bootable CD in PC, and Turn it on, then PC will boot by DOS mode as below
(If the EC is not correct or old version, then automatically update EC first and reboot again)
    2. Type in Mode Name at the “WIP ID :” then press Enter key (You must use Capital Letter)
(You can see the Model Name in ID Label at the bottom Case of PC: “M/N: LMXX-XXXX”)
    3. Type in Serial No at the “WIP ID :” then press Enter key (You must use Capital Letter)
(You can see the Serial No in ID Label at the bottom Case of PC: “S/N: 412KIXXXXXXXX”(13digits))
    4. You can see the BIOS flash process
    5. After flashing is completed, you can see the “PASS” on your screen, and reboot your PC

    Hi!

I've tried to update my BIOS version of my LG P1-J273B from (current version number: RKYWSF10).

The problem is that the letters of the label on the back of my laptop are erased. I've found the serial number on one side of the original box, but it is longer than MAX72 shows in his post. The other problem is that the serial number written on the box is not finished by a sequence of 13 digits, but by a mixture of digits and letters.

    Can you help me, please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

I also had the same problem with the erased serial number on the sticker on one of the laptops. I simply used the last 13 characters from my reciept.
The serial "number" can contain both digits and letters.

I'm having trouble getting this to run on my LG C1. I give it the "LG" code, then the model number, then the serial number, and then it just gives me an
    ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR
SERIAL or PART NUMBER or SLP is blank

Then it dumps me to a DOS prompt. Everything had gone well up until that point. Is there something I should be doing differently, or any way to coax it into continuing from the prompt?

So long time of my troubles with Win7 platformes installation have ended (with the new BIOS from your disc)! Thank you very much. And absolutely NO THANX for LG support (as bad as I've seen).

First to say many thanks to LG BIOS links post on this thread. It was helpful to get proper HDD support for mine LG P1, over 137GB.

Anyway to be a bit helpful for others I will try to summurize what u need to get your LG Laptop updated regarding RAM memory and HDD capacity.

    1. Memory

As LG Support practicaly dont exist atm, best u can do to check if and how much u can do about memory upgrade is to go to Kingston official page and check there. For Instance LG P1 infos are available here.

Anyway via Kingston search u can get infos about how many slots available and how much memory u can fit in your Laptop, PC or even server regarding any brand. And Kingston will propose also their type of memory for upgrades. Not that u need to buy Kingston brand but it is nice to have reference and infos.
Another problem regarding WinXP 32bit not seeing full 4GB memory if u install 2x2GB modules is not real problem but rather limitation which some already mentioned before. With LG P1 u will see max 3,2GB of memory available for WinXP but thats OK, memory is cheap nowdays.

    2. HDD

You must update your BIOS anyway to have access of HDDs over 137GB in capacity. Another problem can be that your LG locked capacity of your HDD to max 137GB if tried installation of HDDs with capacity more then 137GB (like i had with WD Scorpio 500GB). Anyway there is easy solution for unlocking this LG crap. Check MHDD tool at http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/ make bootable CD or Floppy, use another PC desktop connect "problematic" HDD, using ATAPI commands NHPA uncut (unlock) your HDD size to native capacity, Power Down System, Disconnect drive, put back to LG with updated BIOS, and enjoy full HDD Capacity.

Thos MHDD uncut procedure is not intrusive so u will probably not lose any data from your locked/cut HDDs but to be shure, do backup/clone of mentioned HDD to some secure place/another HDD.

MHDD Uncut procedure will probably work with ANY HDD today available.

    Enjoy.

P.S. If anybody has available any newer BIOS for LG Laptops it would be nice to meke it available for us others. Thanks in adavanced.

Well if your using 32bit Windows it can only use 3.25 GB memory because it can only address 3.25GB of memory as it is using all 32 (bit) address lines.

The original bios was LHOSSF0C with EC 17.1D can anyone please provide me this bios or an other except the LHOSSF13 EC 17.23 ? Before the upgrade my laptop worked fine and I want to upgrade the bios in order to change CPU on the future. Thank you very much.

Thanks to all for the above.

I have updated the Bios on my older LG LS50 to address the 137Gb issue. I discovered I have a 250Gb drive installed but found I only had access to 137Gb. The Bios update didn't fix the issue and after checking other comments above, it seems that the drive LBA has been cut back and is showing 268,435,455

Question - Can I safely reset the LBA back to its full size without corrupting any data on the drive ?

    thanks in advance.

Hello. I tried the BIOS cd in my LG P1 J555P but I need the WIP ID stuff. Unfortunately, like some guys here, it got erased over the time.. I don't have it's box or receipt.. i bought it a long time ago.. Is there any way of finding this in the notebook?

Also, the first time I chose install without the SN and it PASSED, there was in fact another BIOS revision number but the available partition space upon WINXP format screen remains on 137Gb. Is it possible that I'll be able to change it after with the seagate tool?

    Thanks all

Sorry about the late answer. Sure I can help you but it should not be that difficult. You will need the model number and the serial number. The just follow the instructions:

    Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my own experience about upgrading the BIOS on my LG LW20.
First of all, I bought a 1.8'' SSD (KingSpec from the bay) to boost the laptop, since a 1.8'' HDD (4200RPM, the same as in old iPods) is verrrry slow (CrystalDiskMark says ~15MB/s for R and W). The performances of the SSD I bought were supposed to be 66MB/s for R and 50MB/s for W, said the vendor.
When I installed it, the BIOS recognized it, but it was impossible to boot on it because the laptop entered in an endless loop (as estag08 mentionned on the post #53, always rebooting after the end of the BIOS loading).
Then I found this thread, burnt the ISO and tried to flash the BIOS; my next problem was that the serial number of my laptop was fully erased...
But the "Flash only from IDE CDROM" option saved my life since it flashed the BIOS automatically, without asking anything. It replaced the WINRSF03 by the WINRSF06.
Then what? Then it worked! I did a fresh install of WinXP, and launched CrystalDiskMark: 89MB/s for R, and 81MB/s for W, quite good for a 7 year old laptop...
    So I wanted to thank y'all !

I've updated all the LG BIOS CD links in the other thread that's stickied in the LG section.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/new-lg-bios-update-for-all-models.429201/

Walter, it sounds like you're running a 32-bit OS. Thus updating the BIOS will not solve the issue of you seeing 3.2GB out of a possible 4GB. Installing a 64-bit version of Windows will fix the issue and then you'll be able to use all of the 4GB of memory.
