I got my P310 a few days ago and I'M LOVIN' IT :D

I bought it in a local shop in Poland. The full spec is:

    P310-S.CPRAY:
    P8400
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    GF 9600M GT 512MB DDR3
    320GB 5400RPM FUJITSU HDD
    and the outher usual stuff.

It cost 4800PLN (~1100EUR). After a few days with my new baby I have some thoughts I'd like to share with you:

First, answering some quetions posted before:

    1. Even though they say the Polish version ships with Polish Vista, you are free to choose the language version of Windows on your first boot.
    2. The power cable is not a problem. As was already stated, the ac adapter accepts 110V input, so all you have to do is switch the cable.
    3. About the build quality - it's very, and I mean very good. As someone already written, the top of the chassis (around the keyboard) is in fact aluminium imitating plastic. The bottom, however, is real metal (probably magnesium?). I should know, because I spent some time trying to figure out how to swap the HDD :)
    4. Changing the HDD shouldn't void your warranty. To be on the safe side it's best to keep the original disk and put it back inside in case of a service need.
I replaced mine with a 500GB 7200 Seagate and am going to use the original 320GB as a remote storage. Unfortunately there's no ESATA port in the computer, but I already ordered a express card with two esata ports.
    5. The battery life is indeed very impressive. I didn't do the exact measurements yet, because I'm still in the process of formatting my battery. Note that the nvidia software has a default power saving mode when running on a battery. It's great when you want to work long without power. Not so great if you want to play a little without cables... It significantly decreases performance. It's sort of a software hybrid alternative :) Thankfully you can order the GPU to use full power even while running on the battery.

My first observations (apart from the fact, that the P310 is awesome):

It can run a little hot while gaming, but only on the bottom. The keyboard and its surroundings are not going to endanger your hands with boiling hot temperature. You have to watch out not to obstruct the airflow out of the chassis if you want to keep it that way.

Someone wrote, that LG Intelligent Update is not available for WindowsXP - not true. I downloaded a copy from LG Canada (together with all the other required XP stuff). I am currently using XP and Win7 Beta. The Beta used the usual drivers for Vista. I only had some problems with the Battery Miser program, which wouldn't start complaining that it needs a windows vista os.

LG Intelligent Update is a great piece of software by the way. It can automatically install all the drivers and windows patches for you. I sincerely recommend it!

One more super cool and useful feature - the sound volume regulation is not done by Fn+functional keys. There is a mini joystick on the right-hand side of the laptop which allows you to do it quickly and with one hand only :) It's so simple, but yet extremely useful.

The LCD is really bright, as some of you already noticed. When I switch to my old laptop I instinctively try to increase the brightness only to discover that it is already on the maximum level :)

The external DVDRW is great, and works on every other computer I have, even though the instruction manual states that it's only compatible with LG computers. I think it's a great move from LG to provide an external drive, as nowadays I only use the DVD to install my OS. For other purposes I use the Internet or pendrives. And one more thing - the external DVD might just come in handy when I will need to install a new OS on a netbook :D

Sorry, but I don't have a camera (apart from the mobile phone one, which is really crappy) so don't have any pictures at the moment.

Feel fry to ask anything you might want to know before buying. I will be glad to help.

PS. I also chose this over XPS 1340. It's way faster and you don't have to wait 2 months to get it :)

    EDIT
Forgot to write about the warranty. Both LG Poland and Germany state, that there's two year warranty, out of which the first year it's international warranty. So if you're buying from abroad it shouldn't be that bad.

So, the notebook P310-S.CPRAY comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM not 3GB like the distributor (ABCData) states?

And another question, does it come with dual license on OS: Vista and Windows XP - like in Germany?

Niceee, Thanks a lot for sharing! Few questions:

    1. How is gaming so far? :) Does P8400 CPU hadles everything as It should ? Or should I wait for more expensive version with P9500?

    2. Do you use your P310 for work/Uni or as a desktop replacement or you use your netbook for that? (btw I have NC10 netbook ;) )

    3. about ESATA yeah that was a bit of an issue for me at first but knowing that I will put Seagate 500gb 7200 into P310 will give me enough storage and speed that I will still use USB 1TB drive. (express slot ESATA add on will probably be sticking out of your lappie)

    4. How do you like overall looks ? :) Satisfied of choosing it over 1340?
For me 1340 looks like the poshest lappie ever but glossy design attracts endless fingerprints.

    5. Ultra bright display doesn't mean its a bad display does it? If you turn brightness down everything is ok ? Whats the quality like when you watch HD movies and stuff.

BTW what do you do ? I mean like a job or student :).

    Again thanks for the inside.

    Yes, 4GB RAM.

No, It ships with Vista Home Premium so downgrade to XP is not possible.

    1. Gaming is cool, however I haven't yet installed any of the top games at the moment (like Crysis or Far Cry 2). Of the most demanding a played NFS Undercover, TR Underworld, Prince of Persia (the new one), Assassin's Creed, The Witcher and Mirror's Edge. Everything runs great in native resolution with Medium/High details.

    2. Well, I use it for both ;) I carry it to work and school and use it at home to play games and watch movies, as I don't own a desktop. I dont have a netbook yet, but am seriously considering a 10 inch EEE.

    3. Yeah, it will stick out, but I will use it only in DTR mode. On the go I may use the USB connection. I already bought a nice USB/ESATA HDD case :)

    4. The looks are great, but I must admit I like the Dell even more in that respect. , I'd like this glowing keyboard ;). LG catches each and every fingerprint but after a few days you stop noticing that. I like the aluminium styled touchpad a lot.

    5. You just have to turn it down, or your eyes will hurt. At least indoors. To me the display is perfect. I usually use brightness levels 3-5 out of 8. I watch a lot of TV series on it and so far I didn't spot any problems with the display, at least comparing to my old CCFL ASUS.

What do I do? I work :) - mainly web programming (Java, ASP.NET). I am also about to finish my studies (Computer Science).

Just 2 questions(take your time though):

    1) First off how is the battery life(when you find out let us know)

    2) You mention LG Canada, so you bought it in Poland but you live in Canada?

So far this is the only model available in Poland. Unfortunately, out of the dozen shops I contacted only the two I mentioned before replied saying that they will ship abroad. It's strange that they do not respond now...

The OS is a Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Someone help me out here... :( First I had studio 1340 on mind but decided not to go for it as of the fingerprint magnet, now VAIO Z which I can get for a little bit more than P310, GPU seems to be just ok to play BF2, BF2142 and low settings on COD4 which are the games I pretty much play.. rest of it goes for my PS3. So should I go for P310 or ultra awesome build design no fingerprint magnet Vaio Z ?

I was in the same boat. Was waiting for the studio for along time. But now things are different and It apears to be a digital hotplate. Thoughjt about the sony but I would much rather have the 9600gt under the hood just incase there are pc games i want to play. Like L4D

I just got my LG p310, here are my first impressions:
    • it came with 7 cds
    • it feels very light
    • the lid is very thin, probably because of the LED screen
    • when you use the joystick for sound volume you also get a nice OSD display with the sound volume, just like on TVs
    • The display is good, the notebookjournal.de review said it had low contrast, but you probably wont notice it unless you will compare it to a better contrast screen side by side. I have no complaints right now about the screen!
    • when you start it the first time you are asked the language you want vista to be in and how you would like the HDD to be partitioned

Im just wondering how hard putting vista ultimate 64 is going to be on this thing ,as the german site wants 259 euros for doing it and providing uk vista.i have never installed andything on a laptop as this will be my first. If it is not going to be a hastle i will just get 64 from the uk as its about £195 which meanis its roughly £35 for the install, is that worth the hastle?

I've checked Polish site of LG in order to find drivers for P310 notebook, and I've found that LG offers x86 and X64 drivers for that notebook. Below printscreens from Polish LGE site.

Lord Turel it means that you have support for x64 operating system. once you install it (which shouldn't be that difficult) you can download 64bit drivers (which are many times different than 32bit drivers) from LG's website and install them if Vista x64 doesn't find them automatically.

Alien Code I'm from Romania - Bucharest also and I want to purchase the P310 this week. I tried to PM you but the forum doesn't let me :)

Thanks, Im not that good with stuff like that :) , Is it just stick the disk in the drive and be promted by windows and sort my partisions etc? and then I need to go to the LG site and download the drivers?

And is it posible that somebody could post a directl ink on this thread so anybody who wants to upgrade can get the drivers?

    Thanks again guys

About gpu downclocking on battery... I have tried the high performance profile without luck. Also googled around and found that it may have something to do with powermizer in vista. tried disabeling it in the regestry, no luck. Tried dffrent drivers drivers and using ntune but no luck. Anybody got this to work? Thinking about changing to xp, anyone running xp on thisone without problems? (Sorry about spelling, not english speaking and in a hurry).

OK, I got a bit nervous and just called the LG Germany Service (Local number is +49 2154-492-0 btw). They told me that they are still producing the P310 but the demand is very high. Of course he couldn't give me any information about a new model.

I share the same problem as a few of you here - the AC supply to the power brick!

I suppose the one from notebook.de is a type F plug (2 pins). The one my country uses is a type G plug. Now I'd like not to have to stick an adapter in; can someone tell me how the power brick's AC input looks like? If, as someone said here that the brick is the same old 100-240V, I can try using my old Dell Inspiron's AC input cable for the LG.

Yea, if I order this laptop for the US, will an adapter be sufficient enough? Or do I have to worry about the voltages, etc?

Someone with more experience on this, could you explain?

The power brick on the p310 supports an input of 100-240v. Us uses 110v, EU uses 220v lines so a socket adator will work just fine!

About the battery gaming, i have tried nearly everything and i think the gpu downclock is hardcoded in the bios or something. This would make sense if for exemple the battery just couldn t supply enough power.

I´ve received my LG P310 'Camini' yesterday. It´s an awesome notebook in all facts.

I had changed Vista for XP x86. Of course I´ve eliminated all stuf about Vista on laptop, also the EISA LG utilities, that´s garbage...

About gaming...Crysis Warhead in medium-high runs smoothly. Later I´ll try other games, like COD4 or The Witcher.

    cheers!

    hi,
    I want to buy LG P310 Tarsia(P9500,Geforce9600MGT).
Could you teach the net shop that sends it out to Japan?

Sending out to Japan was only UPS in notebook.de, and 275euro was
said that it would need it.
    This is very high.

computeruniverse.net seems not to have the stock now.

Is cyberport.de sent out to Japan?

It is a German keyboard and there is no problem.

Please teach if it sends out to Japan, and there is a shop that can be trust that it is
cheap, and the carriage is cheap it.

    My best regards.
