To make fast a kind of network to another PC over an USB Port. Driver install then auto. on the other PC.

Did some game benchmarking on my P310 (T9400). Using Left 4 Dead benchmarking by guru3d (as described here:
http://www.guru3d.com/article/left-4-dead-pc--23-vga-card-graphics-performance/9), I got the following results:

    1280x800x32 - 8MSAA 16AF = 25fps
    1280x800x32 - 4MSAA 16AF = 32fps
    1280x800x32 - 2MSAA 16AF = 36fps
    1280x800x32 - 0MSAA Bi/Tri = 42fps

Somehow AF doesn't have any impact on avg. frame rates...

I have been looking at this one for awhile too. I phoned LG's london office and they confirmed they do not sell laptops in the Uk.

Looks like we would need to buy from europe.

Delivery from notebook.de is about £30

Bought mine from notebook.de. Fortunately prepaid in euros way back in around early November before the UK pound dropped in value. Last time I checked, they dont offer an automated way to select a keyboard layout so you'll need to immediately reply back to notebook.de with an email stating that you wish to have the invoice changed to include a UK/US keyboard.

Do you know if they charge extra for installing a US keyboard? I believe there was a reply on this thread to that effect.

Yes, extra was charged for the new keyboard. Cant remember the exact price offhand but I think it was 80 euros extra. Wish now they give me the old german keyboard as a backup as well since I remember thinking that the price was quite expensive.

Still using stock drivers for everything running under Windows Vista Business. Has anyone had any luck with the latest laptoptogo video drivers? I'm tempted to try them myself but the laptop has been performing brillantly anyway and so have decided to take the stance of 'if it ain't broke then dont touch it'.

What about overclocking the video card ( I know it might not be the smart thing, but just wondering) if someone with the laptop can see if they can overclock through Ntune, or if its bios locked. If so, can someone try and see if the laptop bios file can be extracted with GPU-Z?

    thanks

Thanks but already tried that without success. The installation halts with "could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware".

Vista 32 bit (Business version). Also comes with an XP disc so that you can downgrade if you want. I noticed that the stock setup for the vista business allows you to partition 2 sizes from your harddrive. I'd imagine this would make it easier to dual boot if you wish.

Ah thanks, would it be possible to try driver/software overclocking through Ntune as well? I know that 185.20 lets you overclock, but maybe see if you can do it with other drivers like 184.70 instead (which some manufacturers lock in the BIOS). If its not blocked, that would be awesome.

When you move the slider up in Ntune, it will either let you do it, or give you an error and say invalid settings.

I finally got mine after a lot of problems with cyberport.de (one of the other posters recommended them, but I have to warn you).
I have installed the default drivers, 185.20 doesnt work for me.
I can overclock with rivatuner, up to 750 core 1040 mem, and I get 6900 3Dmark at 1280x1024 (default).
However it seems I have to check the option "3D clocks always on" to get the overclocking working, don t know why.

EDIT: are the previous 3Dmark scores in 1280x800? because I do not get 6000points stock at 10280x1024

Could someone check wether they can overclock without using the rivatuner "always 3D perf" option on? I did some more tests, and this is definitely the option allowing me to do it.
Also, when I do this, the card report very low default clocks (300-400 core mem) whereas I get normal ones if this option is not checked.
Has anyone else overclocked their card?

Also, is there any possibility to get a silent mode without having the cpu at it's lowest speed?

Rivatuner doesnt work well with some of the newer hardware like the 9600gt.

Most people are now using Nvidia's Ntune to see the proper core, shader, and memory speeds, as well as overclocking.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.03.html

download that and install Ntune, then go to the performance tab and see if it lets you raise the core/memory values or if it tells you that the settings made are invalid. Make sure to disable any changes you may have done with rivatuner.

Ah nice, that must mean that the laptop is not bios locked from software overclocking. Would it be possible for you to test out other drivers from laptopvideo2go.com and see if they also work through Ntune whenever you have the chance?

As I said the 185 drivers do not seem to work, but on the forums at laptopvideo2go it seems i am not the only one with problems concerning the 180x.
I downloaded the "mobile" drivers from nvidia website and it refuses to install saying that my card is not supported.

Ah ok, thats strange that the mobile drivers dont work. You have been downloading the modded INF files from laptopvideo2go to add support to your card, i'm assuming. Otherwise, no drivers work by default for laptops.

yes, i ve already used those drivers.
and just to clarify when i am talking about mobile drivers from nvidia , it seems they now offer a version of their drivers for mobile cards which i downloaded but does not work either.
I ll test the 179 modded inf drivers one of these days

Yea i'm aware of those drivers, being released by Nvidia every 3 months or so. When you say they dont work, do you mean they dont install, or they install but they're not 'active' (no control panel, low resolution, etc)?

the nvidia driver refuses to install claiming my card is not supported.
I didnt try to "force" them by using the windows "have disk" etc.. or by using a modded inf.

Hi, I hope you check back again and see this :) I am trying to get some confirmation from notebook.de that they can get an US layout keyboard but they are still insisting on an UK layout and how it is different from an US layout. Could you possibly provide me with your order number so I can go to them and say: Look, this is what the guy ordered, and that is what the guy got. And I want want he got.

I really do not want to plunk down $1600+ without knowing what keyboard I'm getting. Any help greatly appreciated.

Yup, can confirm that the US layout posted by lunatek (image under "For Comparison: US keyboard") is the layout I received. I wouldnt advise using my order number as it may confuse the issue; simply because they got mine wrong and then they might think you actually want a UK keyboard because my invoice shows a UK keyboard (UK keyboard was what I orginally wanted and I ended up with a US keyboard).

For those interested, i installed the 181.20 drivers from laptopvideo2go,it works, i don t know if there is any real difference except farcry stopped complaining the drivers were too old.

ON the harddrive thing. I did put a 7200rpm drive in the pc. I like having the fastest hdd possible since this is the main bottleneck. However dismantling the pc to get to the hdd is a real pain i warn you.

On another note, qwertz keyboard is not difficult to get used to when you come from an american keyboard. When I moved to germany for a few years it really didn t bother me much. The only reason it would be a problem is if you really need to type fast but in this case you know the keyboard by heart and you can just tell windows to use the keyboard as a US one (which is what I do).

Hello, I am interested in this laptop and I've been watching this thread for a while!

I understand the screen has rather low viewing angles (as in not too great), and high brightness, but how are the colors and contrast?!

One more question about the P310: does it seem like a good machine to carry all day? I know the weight, but I'd like to know if people who have it feel that the dimensions of the laptop and the build quality are such that one can take it around for a day.

I've switched over to a UK locale layout on a US keyboard and am pretty much happy with it; except from the few occasions when I hit the key above "ENTER" accidently (so used to a bigger enter key)

The colours and contracts are not bad, though i'd say I'd get better colours and contracts off my other moniter LCD screen and can instantly tell the difference when comparing the two. I tend to reduce the brightness two notches from full when connected to a plug as well since I tend to find the full brightness too much of a glare (though may be handy if using in bright sunshine outside to see the screen).Screens fine overall.

I take it to work every day and commute on bus. At 1.66kg, the thing hardly weighs and takes up any space in my laptop bag. It feels solid and robust enough for everyday travelling. Actually, the size and weight combined with the great GPU for gaming was the primary factor why I purchased this. Its great, I'm having a blast playing Sacred 2 (at work :D )

I ask because they are insisting to me that they only have a UK keyboard and do not have US keyboard option. But it seems to me that they have it reversed and really only have a US keyboard option and do not have a UK keyboard. I keep inquiring about a US keyboard and they keep telling me that it is not that different from the UK keyboard that they can get, but I do not want a UK keyboard.

It is not a huge deal if it is the only computer/keyboard you type on. But I already type on 5 different keyboards, and adding one with different keys into the mix is NOT a good idea. The different key spacings already throw me off more than I'd like.

I'd advise emailing those layout pics and then asking them to confirm which one they'll be putting on to your laptop.

Thanks for that update. I've installed as well myself and it's all looking good so far.

They have emailed me a pic of the UK layout staying, "This is the UK layout." And they continue to imply that they only have the UK layout. But the fact that you got an US layout proves otherwise. It seems short of finding other people who asked for a UK layout (right now it seems like they ONLY have US layout and do not have UK layout), the only other option is to get one and see.

I don't think the guy answering the emails knows actually what is being installed, he has just been told that it is an UK layout. Could you take a picture of a your laptop keyboard and let me send that to them? I will tell them it came from their shop and that is what I want.

The Euro/USD conversion is looking a little favorable right now an I am getting tempted to jump the gun.

I've attached a screenshot of my keyboard. Hope it helps.

On a different note, I've started using RMclock in a bid to reduce the overall temperature. Have'nt fine tuned the settings, but fnd that the following has been stable during longish gaming sessions :
    6x 0.925
    7x 1.000
    8x 1.025
    9x 1.0375

Overall, saving of around 2c off the GPU (avg. 67c) and around 4c off from the CPU during heavy load (gaming). The CPU has never been really hot even before the changes.

    [edit]
Just a quick update to let you know that RMclock will effectively downclock your CPU to 2.4GHz due to not having the options for half multipliers. IMO it perceivably makes no difference in my day to day use of the laptop and may even allow further undervolting (havent tried less than 1.0375 for 9x)

I've ran 3D marks 06 with res 1280x800 and get a final figure of 5593 - thats with RMclock enabled + Forceware 181.20.

I usually use the mains and havent really used the battery all that much. From those times I've disconnected it off the mains, the meter reads around 3hrs usage - I'm sure someone else will have a better reading with their P310.
