No, i have to check the sum of the file with md5. Then i burn.
-
The checksums match. Now i'm burning with the prog scoober told me to use...
-
Just a trick for anybody else that may want to nab Mint. Grab it via torrent, so you can save them bandwidth (Helps keep costs down), plus I had mint downloading at a constant 900KB/s stream that way and had it in less than 20 minutes.
If you're in windows and need to burn the .ISO, use IMGBurn (never failed for me to create discs from .ISO files), or in Mac OS X, use Disc Utility. You can be installing linux in less than an hour... -
I'm using the prog that scoober gave me.
-
DO NOT USE ImgBurn! It stealthy modifies keys in your registry, file associations...
Just use the one I recommended, BurnCDCC, it's safe and efficient. -
Wise choice!
-
Thanks. Am i glad i used the one you recommended. I don't want any problems. O.O
-
Hi, scoober -
Many folks recommend ImgBurn. Never heard anyone say it's intrusive. I've recommended it myself, based on its apparent popularity. Could you please expand on this? I'll stop recommending it if what you say is true..
Thanks!
Is BurnCDCC easy to use? The NTI burn utility that came with my optical drive makes it incredibly simple to burn .iso's. You just double-click on the download and the program knows what to do. Only thing I have to do is slow it down, then stand back. Other popular burners, like Nero, make you jump thru a few steps. Most Windows users have never burned an .iso and many get tripped up. -
BurnCDCC is very easy to use. You just set it how you like with a click or two then you pop in your cd and burn. Pretty easy unless there are easier ways if i do say so myself.
-
Seems like linux isn't my cup of tea. I'm too attached to the windows GUI, that's my main complaint, besides that, i'd probably be fine running linux.
-
Well, i must say that even though linux isn't really my thing, it sure is zippy and fast for running on my cd drive. Although i am well equipped if i do say so myself.
-
lmao, don't know why, but that screenshot just cracked me up.
"obey me!!" -
So change the UI. It's your fault if your UI sucks.
-
I agree with the fact that it's 100% customizable (why wouldn't you like something 100% customized by you?)
Also, if it's what you really want, there are some Windows-like themes. -
So, are you keeping it Calvin?
I might try Mint out as well... -
Even though i'm fine with windows i think i might install linux for a while to get some experience. You never know when you're gonna need linux....
-
Thats what i do. I use linux just to get used on it and to learn how to solve or avoid its differences (most of them shouldn't actually be called problems). I think that the ones that know how to work with linux do have a plus, so i considered it worth. It's free anyway
Dualboot it with windows so if anything goes wrong or you dont have time to google an answer, you always go there and solve it. -
Calvin: I've customized that in 10 minutes (you can get even better results with more work)
-
Are there any dock apps for Linux?
-
aw cmon, enjoy ur linux trip with linux itself
theres no fun and no reason like this!
-
Yeah, that'd be pretty cool if there were.
-
Cool. Everyone needs a good dock.
-
It was only to show that it's possible to customize Linux that way.
-
Hey Calvin,
Found a great guide to change mint to OS X if you'd like(none on Mint to XP though)
http://www.howtoforge.com/mac4lin_make_linux_look_like_a_mac -
That made my jaw drop how sexy that screenshot looked, but i still want it to look like vista.
-
O.K. then.
I'm 99.9% sure this will work with mint(as it's about like Ubuntu). -
Not vista enough. Me wants better clone. I would try vixta but it looks pretty shady...
-
What do you mean?
You can download Vista icons as well.
The 2nd post here shows some sidebar like apps. -
I mean that i would want to have it look more like vista, and that vixta looks really shady.
-
I can't tell the differnce.
But, then again I'm not a Vista user. -
Shame on your chickens for not using vista.
-
Sorry, but isn't a BSOD a feature of Vista?
J/K
I just don't want to, OK? -
No, not ok!!! J/K Use whatever floats your boat.
-
Lets get back on topic.
-
It's related to linux so it's still on topic. Anyway, have any more questions?
-
Any comments on your end?
-
Don't burn it wrong and you're pretty much fine.
-
OK Thanks!
What'd you use to burn it.
I already have the .iso file. -
Burn CDCC. A prog that scoober recommended. Check around page 5 or 6.
-
Thanks.
What version do you have? -
You mean the BURNCDCC version right?
-
No, Linux Mint.
-
I used 4.0 main.
-
OK thats what I downloaded then.
-
The others besides main and light are betas so i wouldn't recommend downloading them.
-
I did it via torrent.
& Thanks. -
Whatever works for you, and no problem dude.
-
Spyware Terminator caught ImgBurn stealthily, and of course without permission or consent from me, changing file associations to itself. This is totally offensive and unethical. It really screwed up my registry because of this.
BurnCDCC is as easy as it gets, and it doesn't pollute your system at all, unlike ImgBurn. -
Yup. I recommend you use this program if you wanna burn .iso's.
Interested in linux but not too sure
