    There is no way I will install Ubuntu to kill my hard disk. LinuxMint is based on Ubuntu, so no way, too ;).

    Are you affected? If so, there is a fix. Vista will give your HD much more of workout than Ubuntu/Kubuntu with all those daemons running all the time that involve the HD>

    I was browsing over the build your own desktop thread and i got a little worried when i read the part about having to install motherboard drivers. Linux has the mobo drivers in the kernel right? There shouldn't be a problem at all right?

    Ya, you just install GPU and Wireless drivers, and if this is a desktop, only the GPU.

    I am waiting on the Kubuntu Final 8.10 release. The RC fixed my wireless, but hosed my bluetooth...which was strange given past history :D
