There is no way I will install Ubuntu to kill my hard disk. LinuxMint is based on Ubuntu, so no way, too.
See my new thread:

Are you affected? If so, there is a fix. Vista will give your HD much more of workout than Ubuntu/Kubuntu with all those daemons running all the time that involve the HD>
-
Seriously, Ubuntu is a lot better at it then Vista.
-
Oh, good. I just saw that thread too.
-
I switched to Ubuntu! I'm loving it so far, i'll post up my review soon.
-
Post it on up Amigo....I've gone full circle back to Ubuntu and from there to Kubuntu.....and I'm *home*
-
Of course you are, Zoid, until the next nifty distro of . . . well, probably anything, comes out! LOL
-
Well, I didn't say I would _stay_ home....lol Wait a minute, are you calling me a linux gigolo? Of course you are....LOL
-
I sure do love gnome-look. I found an awesome blue theme i love. I'll make sure i include this info in my Ubuntu review.
-
LOL
I'm saying that you definitely like to distro hop, and are a bad influence on many of the rest of us innocent bystanders who have been drawn into following in your footsteps. And thank you for that! -
Aint nothin' but a blank disc, right? lol
-
Please, when you order, I prefer a turkey and swiss on a dutch crunch. Thank you.
-
Worked perfectly!
-
Nice job, but where's my sammich??
-
Isn't happening. That guy installed a terminal hack for sure.
-
Showing off my <fake> new kernel.
-
I was browsing over the build your own desktop thread and i got a little worried when i read the part about having to install motherboard drivers. Linux has the mobo drivers in the kernel right? There shouldn't be a problem at all right?
-
Ya, you just install GPU and Wireless drivers, and if this is a desktop, only the GPU.
-
I'd like to join the Linux team, solely b/c I'm in love with Compiz-fusion!
P.S. Your order for a Sammich isn't working b/c it's properly spelled "sammach" =D -
I'd say it requires at least being in possession of a live-cd
-
Copy that, I've got Live-CD, SystemRescue CD, & Ubuntu 8.04 installed
-
In that case you are fully entitled to cary the honorary 'NBR Linux Team' pic in your signature.
Welcome!
Would you like a hand-written confirmation etched in marble?
-
Let's just say joining the NBR Linux Team involves a bucket of water....Baserk has anecdotal evidence of this....
-
Yes of course.
Thanks John for reminding me!. One most surely uphold certain age old traditions.

Just installed Linux today, after watching that video on you tube "Here comes the hottstepper". This really makes windows and all others look like babies
.
Any guides to getting that cube and all the other fun stuff? -

Anything mention to stay on-topic?

I am waiting on the Kubuntu Final 8.10 release. The RC fixed my wireless, but hosed my bluetooth...which was strange given past history
-
Bluetooth is usually attached to the USB bus... any other issues with USB devices?
