QFT I like it.

I do now, thanks for bringing that up...it's in a different place in KDE....
PS, need my bifocals changed too, I'm a coot remember, but still a gaming on from the day....LOL PS: anyone have any cool fonts they've found since we're talking about them? I can't find 'Dungeon' fonts, not the one's that look like 'bricks' if you know what I mean.
-
Thanks...that page is taking forever to load...I'll keep checking...
-

These fonts are beautiful
Myriad Pro
UnBatang
Fudd
Il add more and links to them when I find the links. However Myriad is a commercial font.
Man my fonts in Arch look way better than the fonts n XP or Vista, also has anyone noticed that video quality be it dvd or any other video is MUCH better in linux as compared to windows ?? -
Did a quick switch out to FUDD:

Better, but still horrible.

Yeah...they be gone....lol I'm on a 'fonts' hunt now...any more links...I'm looking too btw...
-
LOL, fonts do make a difference.
Hows Kubuntu 8.04 been? No bugs I hope. -
Thomas....no, not at all...completely reliable....I'm a gnome convert, so still finding things out about KDE.
-
Fudd looks much better ey theZoid
Also if you can get a hold of it somehow, use Segoe UI -
thanks, I'm on a mission lol....back later, packing up the laptop now to move slightly to the north of here for weekend...
-
Nice, I'm really considering it.
Also, we need a general linux discussion thread, this thread is way to off topic. -
-
No probs.
Just some better fonts, change that Gnome foot icon in the panel to Arch logo, change some of those taskbar icons and your set.
BTW, just my opinion but that graph thing in the top panel looks weird.
Besides that, how are you finding Arch? Tried yaourt yet ? -
I've been using Arch for a few weeks and I have everything perfectly setup with yaourt, wine, CS:S and all I need. I'm just fixing the eyecandy.
I got rid of the panel after I got conky, but not before the screenshot.
BTW, can I get some help changing the gnome foot on the panel to the Arch logo? I can't seem to find how. -
Thanks...let me check my font collection....
EDIT: with Segoe UI:Attached Files:

With Conky autostarting (finally)!

Zoid, where can i get Segoe UI fonts in linux?
-
From your vista installation or some shady ways
-
http://rapidshare.de/files/39268200/VistaXP_VS_v2_0.zip.html
VistaXP_VS_v2_0.zip is the file you want. -
How do I use that file?
Also BTW, anyone seen DTR?
You log in with your NBR Username and pasword too.
-
So, i can just copy the font file from my vista install and put it on my usb and install it in linux?
-
Yes, in Kubuntu you would go to 'system settings', then font installer...browse to the font and install it.
-
Neeeeeever heard of it
I don't do desktops, but cool, I have now....I'm a member and didn't know it...
-
Quick question, do i have to stick the font file in my system somewhere so it can have constant access or does it automatically load it into the library?
-
In Kubuntu, the font installer in system settings will put it in the library for permanent use for you.
-
I'll see if it does the same thing in Xubuntu, while i test out wine and stuff.
-
The manual way to install fonts is this (works on my Arch setup)
Extract the fonts to say /home/yourname/Desktop/fonts/
open up the terminal and type this
sudo mv /home/yourname/Desktop/fonts/* /usr/share/fonts/TTF/
enter your admin password and your done. -
To keep this wonderful time-waster alive, added some linked partitions/icons to the desktop and changed out to the KDE4 platinum kicker panel (on my 3.5.9) to see how it looked with wood:

Here's my new Linux desktop. Complete with custom Compiz settings and a nice theme.
-
Hmmm. I've been disappointed with Compiz in 8.04, because it randomly decorates my windows with different variations of drop shadow. Colors, radii, opacity, etc. And yet the settings remain the same.
Well, I'll reinstall CCSM when I get time, and see if it makes a difference. -
Here's one to muse....creepy, keeps making me think I'm in Vista!

Cool ...
-
Why does that make you think you're in Vista?
I like the wallpaper, btw.
-
Used it for months in Vista....eeery.....LOL
-
it happens to me also. everytime i reboot the computer, the object shadows are a different color. i thought it was a problem of emerald, though, and not Compiz.
also, i lost control over media keys. they dont work anymore. -
That's lame. I'm sorry you're having problems.
-
Cool....sawfish....from 'the day'

This is my Dell E1505 desktop. My Ubuntu runs on 8G USB flash drive.

-
