    Arch Linux with Awesome window manager. I used Openbox as my window manager until recently, but then I started trying tiling WMs. It was a little awkward at first, but I definitely prefer them now.

    It's "awesome" a tiling window manager. It's pretty neat, note that you don't have to have all the terminals running, you can run gui apps just fine.

    Nice, the theme coexists peacefully with the wallpaper (didn't know any other way to say it lol and was watching Bush's coexisting fish speech so yea). The wallpaper is really nice

    It's unclear what you're asking for. Is it this? The first part of the blog describes how to create a KDE Desktop Launcher for launching programs, (like Konsole).

    Cool, transparent conky....does your conky use much in the way of resources?....I cut my displayed items down because I thought it was running up the cpu a little....I'm down to this now and it is autostarting.

    Well, I can certainly find Windows for near the price of OSuX, and since I can hack it, run software galore, and play DOS games on it, it's the obvious choice for me. ;)

    @ Thomas, you need to patch gtk with gtk mac, then install the mac menu applet. This will give you a mac menu type tool bar on the top

    ==========================================================

    Is it me or just my eyes, the fonts on KDE look crap compared to Gnome, no matter how much attention you give to configuration, I just dont think the subpixel thing works in KDE even after activating it.

    One of the reasons I switched back to gnome

    KDE doesnt have a lot of choice in terms of good themes
    KDE is clunky and gets in the way
    Most apps I use are GTK based; pidgin, firefox, gimp, openoffice.
    KDE fonts are absolute ****e no matter how much you mess with them.
    Gnome is much more stable and most apps are now gtk based.

    Is that a theme....I take it you've been to KDE-look.org? I'm gonna have to part ways with my friend blackbird....I've got this KDE environment looking better than any gnome environment I've ever had, fonts included, in terms of pure usability. I also find it faster, which is odd, because I'd always though gnome was faster going way back.....this is Ubuntu/Kubuntu I'm comparing here. Apps launch faster, don't turn dark and 'think', very snappy....maybe it's more agreeable with my hardware. I run Evolution as my main PIM, it's gtk.....Karamba is cool, it's a K app.....underlying engine really doesn't matter IMO.....they're all meeting certain standards per freedesktop.org to be interoperable.

    Elegant brit/mine are not available for kde, the default kdemod theme is pretty ugly ey?

    theZoid, what theme you using, post a pic plz lol, I found it incredibly hard to find decent themes (for default window manager, not compiz)

    Also there are other reasons I dont like KDE that much;

    -when you rename a file it highlights the whole name and the extension where as in gnome it highlights the name by default, you can change the extension too if you want to.

    -when you hover over music files in gnome it plays them, in kde it doesnt.

    blackbird...don't have theme per se, I've changed everything individually including the Kmenu....there are lots of themes, but they're not drag and drop installable like in gnome. The desktop I'm using is this one right now: think I've posted it....I'm going to try some themes later, and play around with compiz/ccsm....it's not on right now....quirky with KDE methinks. EDIT: I am using the snowish icon theme, that's it.
