Tell me when you find it and post a link to the thread, it shouldn't be harder than changing a color value as far as i know.
-
That's exactly what it is....I'll post the link when I find it...
EDIT: Here is how.... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=651389&highlight=brown+login
EDIT2: That first page of that link hosed my X....had to undo it....I'll check the link in the link
-
Tell me what works, i'd hate to hose my xorg file, i did it once but i had a backup, i don't feel like going through that again.
-
I had to login in with gnome failsafe, uncommented the lines, restarted and all is well....I'll be looking...0_o I also posted on Ubuntu forums that procedure will hose a Hardy Ubuntu X....I'll find something more up to date
-
Hey Zoid, i was wondering if a network manager could affect network speed. Or is that just the actual drivers and wifi dongle? I am thinking about using WICD but I'm still unsure.
-
I'm not really sure. Wicd, just follow their instructions for Ubuntu on their website....when you install it from Synaptic, it will automatically remove network manager for wirless...you'll still have your network settings in gnome. I found it must faster to get connected, and snappier all around. It's a great piece of software. Now that you mention it, I still need to do that. It's easy to reverse, just reinstall network manager from Synaptic, and it will uninstall Wicd. You can't screw anything up. Some distro's use Wicd for a default.
EDIT: I think it's more important for some to replace Knetworkmanager than GnomeNetworkManager....the gnome version is faster at hooking up, but you still may see an improvement. -
Alright, I'll go for it. If anything goes wrong I'll come after you!
-
o
Give me a head start....
No, nothing will go wrong...tell me what you think...I like because I change wireless environments 2 to 3 times per week and it's fast at connecting and doesn't sit there and resolve, resolve, resolve....
EDIT: while you're here, I found a cool MPlayer skin on Freshmeat... .(Ater) -
Thanks for the skin but i dunno how to use it...O_O
-
download tar file....
in terminal:
sudo file-roller
extract it to /usr/share/mplayer/skins
Open MPlayer and select the gui....
you're welcome
-
Thanks, the theme doesn't work however....
-
No kidding....came right up here when I selected it.....you mean it doesn't show up in GUI options?
-
When i try to apply it it just resets to default, no problem though, i'm fine with the default.
-
Did I mention that looks really classy?
-
Still play with KDE4....seems stable believe it or not

Find your gui.conf file in your home directory .mplayer. Look for GUI = "Ater" (in this case). Change to A to a. It's the case sensitive demon, happened to me. Now "ater" comes up as the GUI every time like it should.
-
looks nice...but god do i hate that plasma thing on the top right corner of the desktop...is there no way to turn that thing off?
-
-
I can see you're obsessed with purple and Lucky Star.
I used to have an awesome Konata wallpaper but i lost it when i reformatted and the website took it down.
-
Looks nice, i was thinking about making my panel transparent, i just might.
-
i really like the transparency with the darker themes. i was stuck on blue for awhile but really like the red. i'm hoping the rgba/murrine stuff kicks off in time for the 8.10 release. then we'll have real transparency. of course you can compile the theme engine now and patch rgba which i may test out on my other laptop. some of the examples look really good.
http://www.cimitan.com/blog/2007/12/12/gtk-rgba-transparent-widgets-with-the-murrine-engine/ -
Yeah, i've seen that before. It's pretty nice but if it gets in my way (like how Compiz takes up too much CPU power) then i'll turn it off. Compiz is working on GPU support but until then it has to stay off.
-
actually the engine is supposed to be very efficient. so you could just use compiz for plugins and gtk for real transparency and have the best of both worlds. we'll see.
-
-
Unless you really like orange you should change the theme and icon pack, even the sounds too. I changed all of those, including my GDM theme and my usplash, i love Ubuntu when it's customized.
-
I don't
But I've been busy reinstalling several times because of the intel graphics
Didn't have much time for customizing
But yeah I might do that..it's stable now(finally!). -
Cool. Are you the Sawfish girl?
EDIT: great this thread is still alive...it's the best time waster on the planet....
-

Hmmm, what icon pack is that?
-
That is CrashBit....but the "home" folder on the desktop is an icon that I had in my collection that happened to go along with the rest. The default was a blue home folder and it didn't match so I replace that ONE.
-
Oh, I thought it looked like Crashbit. I use that too. I love it.
-
Yep, I never can find one I like better.....need to replace my gnome panel images....
-
What window manager is that, Thomas?
-
here is mine on my laptop
