Kind of goofy, but I like it.

    Excellence, as usual.

Nice theming/wallpaper. So how's Maverick? I could use a change from Mint. :D

Speaking of which, here's my desk ATM:

Here's mine. Fedora 13. 22" LCD as my main monitor + my Latitude on a docking station as my secondary. I like to keep things simple (I don't even run Compiz), sleek & fast.

Is it only me or does someone else find it strange when Ubuntu users just throw in release numbers or names without any context and without mentioning the distribution name - just like Windows users automatically assume that everyone knows that they're talking about Windows?

No..? because each distro has their own release numbers/names.. if you have paid attention each distro's release numbers aren't similiar..for example..Ubuntu is at 10.10.. opensuse is at 11.3..Mint is at 10..Fedora is at 13..you get the idea..though this is also coming from someone who distro hops and looks at distrowatch every other day.. :) Ubuntu is also a very well known linux distro..most of us here using it will apply that concept when looking at the release number

btw..some very nice desktops so far :)

I'm aware of that. But does that mean that everyone has to know alle the versioning/naming conventions of all distributions?

    That's not true.
My statement: I'm running 13. Your task: Tell me what I'm running! Is it Fedora or Slackware?
Another Example: I run 5.4. Is it Gentoo, CentOS, an old Zenwalk...?
Or tell me what I'm talking about when I say I run "Dresden" - without looking it up of course.

And that means that there are no Fedora 10 out there anymore? I know people who still run version 8.
btw: Mint is still at 9.
And that means that everybody has to recognize it only by its release number?

i was saying as a general rule for the more widely used ones (sry should have been more specific) ..mint is at 10.its an RC..some could be running that.. but let's stay on topic....we are here to show off our linux desktops..not talk about version numbers and such

Yes! Pretty nice. But I'm not really a fan of "uniforms". I remember a situation from a Debian user meeting:
A: "I've lost my shirt! Has somebody seen it?"
B: "How does it look like?"
A: "It sports a Debian swirl."
