Okay, anybody know where or how I can get the system monitor shown in this desktop so that I can install in Ubuntu 11.04? Its got everything I need. If there is one similar that would be okay, but I am using gkrellm monitor now and its okay but not what I am used to.

I believe that is conky. It's highly configurable, but you really have to design it yourself.

Okay, have downloaded Conky -all and Transitional from Ubuntu site, but its not showing up as app. How do I execute and setup, through scripts in terminal?

**EDIT** Okay, found its executed in terminal.

I too like conky a lot - but the update of top, CPU usage interval should be higher otherwise you start seeing a lag.

Sorry, this is my second post to a forum using Picasa... I used to use TinyPic to upload pictures for sharing in a forum, but have been having intermittent problems uploading pics which have become more frequent. Went to Picase and shared the album publicly... did this fix the problem.

    TIA.

Have you done any of the gconf-editor options to unlock eOS yet? If not I would, it makes it much more customizable.

Actually your desktop really isn't that ugly -- i like it :p

Although the 'save' in the middle of it piques my interest

Hehe... well I love the wallpaper, but I don't like the limited gtk themes that I have. The taskbar and windows don't look that great.

Oh and the save is because it's running off of a live USB instead of a hard disk. Basically, I can turn on my laptop and it only saves changes if I want it to. So let's say I download a picture... if I don't save, it won't be there the next time it boots. It also asks if I want to save upon shutdown. I really like this feature. :D

This is on my desktop. I'm running Linux Mint 10 because the last Ubuntu release was working improperly on my computer. It would freeze and lock up. Someone thought it might be a kernel issue... and I think it probably is too because I'm having similar problems on this.

I'm going to install the latest release of Xubuntu soon because I really don't want to move away from Debian-based (more specifically, Ubuntu-based) distros.

    Simply because I don't know how. :)

Anyway, I gave my wireless card to my little brother, so the PC isn't of much use to me right now. Perhaps I'll put OpenSUSE on it or something and see if it is able to run, but it's not my biggest concern. Puppy Linux is working just fine on my laptop.

Also I'm getting back into Linux after a few years hiatus. What's the bottom OS X like dock that everyone is using? Not sure if I will use it, but it's nice to have options.
