Okay, anybody know where or how I can get the system monitor shown in this desktop so that I can install in Ubuntu 11.04? Its got everything I need. If there is one similar that would be okay, but I am using gkrellm monitor now and its okay but not what I am used to. -
I believe that is conky. It's highly configurable, but you really have to design it yourself.

I just started using auto-hidden panels for my app shortcuts and I'm loving it
EDIT: heh sorry about messing up the first pic in the upload

Okay, have downloaded Conky -all and Transitional from Ubuntu site, but its not showing up as app. How do I execute and setup, through scripts in terminal?
**EDIT** Okay, found its executed in terminal. -

I wonder if there is any noticeable difference between Funduntu and Ubuntu Netbook Remix though...

I too like conky a lot - but the update of top, CPU usage interval should be higher otherwise you start seeing a lag.

Basic Fedora install. Surprisingly efficient on system resources.
Adding Dropbox to start-up brings me to 208MB or so.![[IMG]](images/storyImages/Fed-SRStart.png)

@ral - that is cool
- btw I'm unable to view the higher res pic in picasa - either no permission or file removed

Sorry, this is my second post to a forum using Picasa... I used to use TinyPic to upload pictures for sharing in a forum, but have been having intermittent problems uploading pics which have become more frequent. Went to Picase and shared the album publicly... did this fix the problem.
TIA. -
imgur: the simple image sharer is a really good image host provider. I use it always.

Thanks, trying it out now.
Picture removed. Too big. -

Have you done any of the gconf-editor options to unlock eOS yet? If not I would, it makes it much more customizable.

you should give us a mini-review on it.

Is the background one of the photos taken along the Big Sur coastline ?

I have no idea, I found the image on interfacelift.com.

I'm well aware of that, but I have few issues with the default, thanks.
Perhaps, but Jupiter(0.1) is a bit old. Luna(0.2) should be coming in a few months. -
this is Navaggio Bay on Zakynthos island in greece. I was there on my honeymoon - great place

Actually your desktop really isn't that ugly -- i like it
Although the 'save' in the middle of it piques my interest -
Hehe... well I love the wallpaper, but I don't like the limited gtk themes that I have. The taskbar and windows don't look that great.
Oh and the save is because it's running off of a live USB instead of a hard disk. Basically, I can turn on my laptop and it only saves changes if I want it to. So let's say I download a picture... if I don't save, it won't be there the next time it boots. It also asks if I want to save upon shutdown. I really like this feature.

This is on my desktop. I'm running Linux Mint 10 because the last Ubuntu release was working improperly on my computer. It would freeze and lock up. Someone thought it might be a kernel issue... and I think it probably is too because I'm having similar problems on this.
I'm going to install the latest release of Xubuntu soon because I really don't want to move away from Debian-based (more specifically, Ubuntu-based) distros.
-
Crunchbang 10 here! So much better than Ubuntu/Mint...
Yeah I know my conky is lame but I didn't put much effort into it.
-
Why don't you just recompile your kernel?
-
Simply because I don't know how.
Anyway, I gave my wireless card to my little brother, so the PC isn't of much use to me right now. Perhaps I'll put OpenSUSE on it or something and see if it is able to run, but it's not my biggest concern. Puppy Linux is working just fine on my laptop. -

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Using Ubuntu to imitate Mac OS looks is just weak...
-
I personally think OSX is overrated. I prefer the openSUSE or Mint themes.

Where can I haz this picture?
Love the desktop. Also where did you acquire the date "widget"?
Good Stuff -
I have the same questions.
Also I'm getting back into Linux after a few years hiatus. What's the bottom OS X like dock that everyone is using? Not sure if I will use it, but it's nice to have options. -
Date widget is a minimalist .conkyrc I acquired... I'll post it up when I'm booted into linux.
